Mushroom Lord in the Underground City-Chapter 378 - 370: At Their Wits’ End
"Did Ilo really say that?" Eco stared intently at Salian in front of him, disbelief filling his voice.
After their encounter, confronting the Captain of the Guard, Salian held nothing back, revealing everything he had seen and heard before, including conversations with his teacher and the horrifying content of those information blocks.
"So you’re saying that this spreading madness is also his doing?" Eco’s voice trembled slightly with anger.
"I’m afraid... yes." Salian nodded with difficulty, hoping deeply that none of this was true.
"Is he insane?!" Eco’s low growl echoed in the vast darkness. "Going out now? Going out now is to plunge into the continent’s conflicts, fighting to the death with those forces, and in the end, just like last time, let uncontrollable human Heroes be the ultimate winners?"
"Is he willing to destroy the entire Underground City for such a reason, causing the death of over forty elite Ranger comrades under my command? And now he plans to sacrifice more Elves?!"
"I must kill him myself!" Eco grew more and more furious as he spoke, murderous intent boiling in his chest, eager to plunge his twin blades into Ilo’s heart and ask what’s going on.
Yet, trapped in this bizarre invisible cage, he bore immense power with nowhere to vent, only managing to clench his fist till it cracked audibly.
"Salian," Eco suppressed his rage and pinned his hopes on this young Mage, his gaze urgent with expectation. "Did you find a way to make the black wall blocking us disappear? Do you have any means to figure out how to completely leave here?"
Salian could only shake his head helplessly, "It wasn’t me. I don’t know what happened."
"Then maybe someone else found a way. The urgent task is to see if we can gather everyone together!" Eco quickly calmed down and made a decision.
Salian expanded the light from the Lighting Technique to its limit, its soft glow dispelling the darkness as he began searching for his companions in this void.
Eventually, they found another student of Ilo.
Unfortunately, the disappearance of the black wall was unrelated to him, and Ilo hadn’t even attempted to recruit him.
Yet they couldn’t find Seldan, the last person.
Part of the black wall surrounding the Divine Wood Area was still standing.
To them, perhaps Seldan had dispelled most of the black wall, but was still trapped in that last area.
Or maybe Seldan had chosen to side with Ilo and left early, while the disappearance of the black wall had other reasons.
Regardless of the truth, they were at a loss.
Helpless, they could only focus on the motionless black information blocks in space, hoping to find clues among them.
This was undoubtedly a painful method. Not all information blocks were as simple as those three diary blocks, which contained only a few lines of information.
The size of these blocks varied, and the one that initially tormented Salian was relatively small among them.
Each time they touched and received the information, it was mental torture and an ordeal.
Even though the three of them tried choosing the smallest blocks and took turns enduring, they were still overwhelmed by the vast amount of information.
Before long, they had to stop this almost suicidal act.
Salian felt dizzy, his mind cluttered with various chaotic images and disjointed sounds, unable to focus his Spirit, and even attempts to use the Awakening Technique had little effect.
The other Mage’s situation was worse, as he had fainted directly.
Even though Eco had gritted his teeth silently throughout, his paper-white complexion and slightly trembling hands showed he too had reached his limit.
And after such immense torture, their gain was zero!
They saw more horrific scenes under a world shrouded in mist but found no trace of information on how to escape this place.
Salian felt a wave of despair.
The teacher obviously didn’t intend to let him starve here, which meant that before he starved, the teacher’s plan was likely already completed.
If they considered that after escaping, they would still need time to stop the teacher, then time for action was even more pressing.
Now, it seemed, it was unlikely they could find a way out within this limited time.
Salian could only lie powerlessly on the cold ground, silently praying in his heart.
Hoping that his sister would be clever enough to sense the danger and smartly stay far away...
...
In the only corner still isolated by the black wall, countless massive information blocks floated in the void.
Puki was in this corner as well.
The black wall isolating those Elves was essentially information, allowing Puki to pass through directly.
This last corner held many information blocks dozens or even hundreds of times larger than the one Salian initially saw regarding the mist scene.
Even if they saw such information blocks, they could only choose to bypass them, interpreting them directly was no different from courting death.
The Scout Puki fluttered its wings within, flying from one block to another without pause.
Instead of analyzing each block in detail, Lin Jun chose to first receive them, and after a brief glance, if it wasn’t what he sought, he tossed it into a corner for later interpretation.
Only when encountering something that might relate to controlling the Underground City did he take a closer look.
A vast amount of information was accumulated, but fortunately, it hadn’t reached the point of overwhelming Lin Jun.
Compared to the empty void that time, this information collection was virtually risk-free.
And though Lin Jun discarded most information in the corner like trash after a glance,
the reality was that the ratio of useful information in this space far exceeded that time in the void.
Even insignificant images and fragmented phrases were infinitely more meaningful than the sheer gibberish of rolling-face-on-keyboard-like junk in the normal Abyss.
Through Lin Jun’s quick discernment, he indeed managed to understand Ilo’s method of controlling Teleportation.
Due to the Divine Wood being rooted in this static Abyssal Space, any Abyssal Ceremony within the Divine Wood’s range would inevitably be disrupted from its original purpose and instead link the Divine Wood and this space.
It was evident that part of the control of the Underground City was found within the Divine Wood.
Therefore, Lin Jun could invade the Divine Wood himself by simply performing an Abyssal Ceremony.
Of course, success would not be so simple, but this was the first step toward seeing the next step.
...
In the Elf Camp, a pile of materials was handed to Peragel by Seldan.
"Is this for setting up some kind of Array? But what can you set up? Did the teacher actually entrust such a task to you..."
Seldan was speechless, not underestimating his best friend, but as a Ranger, his Casting Level wasn’t absent, but barely reaching the second or third tier.
He could add a bit of Magic Power to an arrow, but setting up even the lowest level of Magic Array would be a strain.
Peragel merely smiled, "You’ll see soon enough. I assure you, it’ll be beyond your expectations!"
When Peragel began drawing the Array with those materials in front of the Divine Tree Seedling, using the quiver as a prop, it indeed caught Seldan completely off guard!
He was horrified to discover that the quiver wasn’t what it appeared to be but rather a disguised Puki!
Before he could recover from the shock, Peragel, holding an arrow, pierced it through his abdomen...
