Mushroom Lord in the Underground City-Chapter 330 - 322: Help
It’s not some play about "the head of the household just died, and outsiders came to seize the property".
The Magic Potion Shop left by the Old Elf really isn’t considered a valuable asset in the materially abundant, worry-free Elf Society.
The Elf messenger who came to deliver the message didn’t even know the Old Elf had passed away. His purpose was merely to deliver a notice to the shop owner personally.
Upon learning of the elder’s passing, he left the notice with Riel.
In simple terms, as the situation on the Continent grows increasingly perilous, the Elves have decided to plan ahead and further strengthen urban defense forces, thus needing to redevelop parts of the city.
Unfortunately, this Magic Potion Shop happens to be located in the area designated for redevelopment.
Of course, that’s one way of putting it. When human nobles want to expand their mansions, they use all sorts of grandiose reasons as well.
For the Elves in the area, it’s really not bad luck either. Elves needing to relocate will receive corresponding compensation.
But for Riel, this shop brimming with memories of her and her grandfather is simply irreplaceable.
After delivering the message, the messenger hurriedly left, carrying several similar notices in his arms, clearly needing to deliver them to several other nearby households.
Riel clutched the notice, curling up on the wicker chair behind the counter, dazed and staring, her previously mustered Spirit now depleted, not even noticing Puki wandering around the shop.
Scout Puki casually flipped through the manuscripts left by the Old Elf, densely filled with Elf Language records of various potion formulas.
Unfortunately, with Lin Jun’s current level of Elf Language, he could only understand a bit. If Riel were there demonstrating, he would learn much faster.
As for the Magic Potion Shop’s demolition, Lin Jun himself naturally didn’t care at all. He had no sentimental memories here; learning potion formulas elsewhere wasn’t a problem.
However...
The Old Elf treated Puki really well in life.
Because the frequent visits and roaming around of Pukis easily distracted people, many other potion shops either refused to open windows for Pukis or only allowed them in the front counter area, strictly forbidding entry into the inner alchemy rooms.
Only the Old Elf’s place always had windows open for Pukis, never shying away from them even during alchemy. Even if Riel and Puki’s antics occasionally affected the alchemy process, he never truly got angry.
Not to mention, just recently, the Old Elf helped Lin Jun raise his [Elf Language] to Level 6.
In short, Lin Jun’s heart softened, and he planned to help the little one a bit.
As for how to help?
Eliminate all the relevant Elves, send an army of Pukis to occupy the place, and destroy anyone who causes trouble — of course, that’s not feasible.
[Magic Perception Level 8]
The Elf messenger hadn’t gone far; he was now on the opposite tree corridor, seemingly having just completed a delivery, preparing to leave.
Puki took flight, following behind the messenger from a distance with its strong perception advantage.
...
Feeling relaxed after completing the task, the messenger walked back along the wooden bridge between the tree corridors.
Passing a larger platform, an Elf delivering a somewhat impassioned speech from a high place caught his attention and made him stop.
The Elf stood atop a simple wooden box, waving his arms at a sparse audience, his voice filled with urgent passion.
Puki landed on a tree branch a little way off, listening in on the gist.
He seemed to be urging other Elves to pay attention to the mist and respond actively.
To be honest, Elves are quite far from the mist-ravaged Western Islands; it felt like reminding mainland residents about tsunamis, making Lin Jun suspect that he misinterpreted the meaning due to insufficient language level.
Unfortunately, Lin Jun couldn’t continue listening.
Just as the speaker’s emotions grew more intense, two Elven Rangers dressed in Light Armor approached, and without saying much, efficiently escorted the speaker away.
"You can’t do this! Elves need to know the truth! We must..." The well-trained Elven Rangers quickly took the speaker away, the whole process swift and quiet, like an inconsequential episode.
People dispersed, the messenger had no reason to linger further, continued on his way, and eventually reached the Forester’s wooden office.
Passing a colleague responsible for another area, the messenger entered the office, briefly reported the delivery of the notice to the Forester, and casually mentioned the Old Elf’s death.
The Forester nodded, indicating he understood, and allowed him to leave.
Once the door closed, only the Forester remained in the room.
He sighed tiredly, leaned back, and vigorously massaged his aching temples, complaining softly, "With the Surveillance Array being used, those radicals... isn’t life good now? Can’t they just settle down a bit?"
The Forester didn’t notice that there was an invisible Puki in the corner of the room.
That night, the Forester had a bizarre dream.
In the dream, he returned to his childhood, witnessing his over seven-hundred-year-old father, in his prime, perish in an unexpected fire.
The raging flames devoured the treehouse, all mementos reduced to ash, leaving him with endless regret.
Upon waking, the Forester found this dream absurd and full of holes.
His father was one of the Imperial Guards, alive and skilled, how could he perish in a sea of flames?
However, just as he received a petition, signed by residents, requesting to preserve the Old Elf’s Magic Potion Shop, his gaze fell on the detailed description of young Riel’s situation.
The deep emotional bond between the girl and the shop mentioned in the petition unwittingly resonated with the Forester, echoing the regret in his dream of "not being able to keep mementos".
This petition was naturally prompted by Riel’s neighbors, nudged to submit it under Lin Jun’s dream suggestions.
For this task, in one night’s time, he got beaten in Inanna’s dream while also planting seeds of suggestion in the dreams of the Forester and those neighbors, exhausting even Lin Jun.
Thankfully, it wasn’t in vain.
The Forester gathered several Elf Mages responsible for planning the "Surveillance Array", consulting whether the array’s position could be slightly adjusted.
Upon receiving confirmation of "a small range adjustment", he personally went to inspect the site and eventually relocated the new spot to a group of trees not far from the Magic Potion Shop.
Throughout the process, the Forester never met Riel directly. Two days later, Riel received an official notice: her Magic Potion Shop would not have to move.
Overjoyed, Riel went door to door to thank her neighbors, even wanting to give some potions as a token of gratitude, only to be kindly declined each time.
When she returned to the Magic Potion Shop, she found the familiar Scout Puki already waiting inside, seemingly preparing to watch her perform alchemy.
"Flying Mushroom! I don’t have to move! This is wonderful!" Immersed in joy, Riel didn’t even think, opening her arms and rushing toward Puki, wanting to give it a hug.
Then, as usual, she was politely held back by the several tough and flexible fungal tendrils, unable to succeed.
