Chapter 277: Chapter 269: The Sword Saint’s Mouth

The Royal Palace of Elves - the heart of Ishildorin.

The entire Elf City surrounds it like stars around the moon, and the Elf King resides deep within this majestic structure bathed in magical glow.

Though addressed as "King," the elves’ succession of power is not hereditary but closer to a "wise person ascends" system.

A successor must be appointed by the previous Elf King and then approved by the Elder Council before they can take the throne.

Thus, the Elf Race has only "king" or "queen," with no titles like "prince" or "princess."

If a hereditary system were in place, we might witness the bizarre scene of a "thousand-year prince."

The Elf Forest does not welcome outsiders, much less the Elf Palace, but except for a diplomatic mission.

At this time,

In one of the side halls of the Royal Palace, a group of humans was packing their gear, the atmosphere tense, with the Sword Saint Elvyn muttering, but clearly expressing curses echoing in the corridor.

Stuff like "untrustworthy," "scheming villains," and the like.

His voice carried far down the corridor, with several elves not far away hearing each word clearly.

Amid the unfriendly stares around, his disciple Shi Wu beside him lowered his voice pleading, "Master! Please! Say less, won’t you! At least... keep it down!"

Unfortunately, the Sword Saint did not heed him.

"He’s doing it on purpose, isn’t he?" Salian White Stone, responsible for greeting the human envoy, looked somewhat helplessly at Elvyn ranting with a constant mouth not far away.

The human envoy not only requested food but also demanded that the Elf Race, according to the alliance, send top warriors to support the front lines.

The Elf King refused outright, and Salian’s mission was to ’see them out’ with dignity.

Diplomatic occasions require tact, hiding needles in silk, stopping when necessary.

Yet, humans sent Elvyn, this "cannon"!

Upon refusal, this Sword Saint unleashed indiscriminate mockery, using words so crude it left the elves dumbfounded.

He even insulted the Elf King as a "shameless person" directly, almost turning the negotiation table into a fist fight.

Luckily, no fight broke out. Salian had no desire to follow in the footsteps of the Captain of the Guard, who taunted Elvyn and ended up beaten, unable to get out of bed to this day...

Ultimately, the elves only agreed to provide half the food quantity requested by humans, and aid in troops was not to be discussed. Though the Elf King did propose to send elite rangers to assist in capturing Demon Race spies, humans promptly refused.

The so-called spy hunt was more about finding the "Hero" mentioned in intelligence. Even without speaking of the Hero, humans would not let various information about the rear fall into others’ hands, so failing to reach an agreement seemed normal.

Elvyn’s mocking waves grew higher. Beside Salian, the sound of gritting teeth was clearly audible.

Alongside him handling the reception was the Elf King’s daughter, Galadriel Dusk Song, whose beautiful face was now tense, with a gaze able to drip water, her ice-blue eyes fiercely focused on the noisy middle-aged man afar.

"That... old scoundrel!"

Salian actually wanted to remind her that they both were much older than that human afar.

But noticing Galadriel’s eyes seething with anger, and certain "past events" between her and the human Sword Saint that were best not shared, Salian wisely swallowed his words back.

After months of what was supposed to be a solemn diplomatic negotiation, it ended with a very ungraceful exchange of passionate words between the Elf King’s daughter and the human Sword Saint.

Salian finally breathed a sigh of relief, as he no longer had to listen to Elvyn’s trash talk, nor stay constantly within this Royal Palace anymore.

Though the palace was grand and exquisite, and young elves who had never entered might long for it.

But really, to elves naturally close to nature, the tree houses symbiotic with giant trees in the outskirts of the forest offer a more soothing and free living environment, at least Salian thought so.

His home was on a giant tree at the forest’s edge.

In reality, the tree houses surrounding the palace were mostly residences of elves like him working inside the palace.

But Salian did not directly step onto the spiral ladder going home, instead turning and walking into the deep woods below, as he needed to check if his bothersome sister had returned before going home.

The more he walked, the more remote it became, until that familiar lonely cabin appeared before his eyes.

Before he pushed the door, a series of ’thud, thud, thud’ sounds came from within.

Salian frowned and opened the door—

Whoosh!

A blue shadow shot towards his face like an arrow off the string!

Salian’s lips moved silently and swiftly, and a semi-transparent, elastic Magic Bubble instantly formed in front of him.

The blue projectile hit the bubble, powerless, falling to be caught by Salian.

It was the parrot Feifei, one of his sister’s pets, naturally recognizable.

His gaze swept the interior, even though it was not his own residence, Salian couldn’t help but have veins standing out on his forehead.

In the compartment, Earth Bear Douding lay on the ground, only leaving a silly upside-down head showing its tongue with white eyes; Hairball curled under the bed trembling; the Shadow Swamp Python named Bubble was limp on the ground, obviously unconscious, while a greenish-blue Puki was occasionally kicking its head but stopped once it saw him enter.

As for the room, it looked as if ravaged by a storm, furniture toppled and wrecked, chaos everywhere, and most absurdly, a striking large hole was opened in the wall!

Facing Elvyn’s foul mouth earlier, Salian didn’t have his blood pressure rise as much as this moment!

Taking three deep breaths consecutively, he calmed his emotions.

"That fool, what ’treasure’ did she bring back this time?" Salian’s gaze locked onto the Puki, magical light glinted in his palm.

Scout Puki was instantly bound by an invisible Magic Force Field, struggling in vain, lifted across the air before Salian’s eyes.

He examined the peculiar demon closely: "Puki? It mutated way too ridiculously... Where did that girl pick it from?"

Salian became slightly interested, his fingertips shining as he slowly approached the immobile Puki, intending to check its internal structure.

Of course he wouldn’t kill it, fixing it after examining would suffice.

"What are you doing!!" A furious scream accompanied by a figure surged in!

The just-returned Elarwen charged in like an angry little lion, kicking at her brother!

Magic Bubble appeared again, easily blocking the sister’s attack.

"Just checking if this demon’s dangerous." Salian stated blandly.

"Xiao Ji saved my life! You can’t bully it!" Elarwen shoved the Puki aside, shouting loudly.

"Saved your life?!" Salian’s face darkened instantly.

Elarwen realized she had let it slip and turned to escape, but it was too late.

Salian grabbed her arm firmly, tone stern: "Explain clearly! The whole story! Don’t skip a single detail!"

Though he was the elder brother, he was actually over a hundred years older than Elarwen, and due to family reasons, it was fair to say he primarily raised his sister.

Hearing that Elarwen had encountered danger to her life, he naturally demanded clarification!

Seizing the moment Salian’s focus was fully on his sister, Scout Puki fled without hesitation, first diving back into the chaotic room, then darting out through the hole in the back wall!

Encountered a big shot, couldn’t afford to provoke! Couldn’t afford to provoke! 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
