Munitions Empire-Chapter 1994 - 1868: Taking Matters into Her Own Hands
"Madam, be careful below." The old butler got out of the car, walked around the hood, and opened the door for the lady. He slightly bowed and softly reminded, "Be cautious, there are steps ahead."
"Thank you!" A black-haired woman emerged from the car, wearing a black woolen coat today, her hair elegantly pinned up, exuding both grace and competence. Upon seeing the old butler’s respectful demeanor, the woman offered him a faint smile which seemed to bring forth the spring, gracing one with a gentle breeze of comfort.
The old butler remained in his crisp black suit, slightly bowed, making way for the lady to clearly view the towering building behind him.
This is the place in Brunas City specializing in selling ship tickets. Although the war has ended not long ago, it’s still somewhat chaotic, crowded with queues of people, yet it has indeed resumed its function of selling tickets to the Western Continent.
Ever since the Great Tang Empire declared war on the Western Continent, due to the risks of war, flights to the Western Continent were all suspended, leaving many stranded in the Eastern Continent. Now with the war over, everyone is eager to return to the Western Continent, naturally, this ticket office is packed.
To support the war, the Empire organized a large number of merchant ships to transport supplies to the Eastern Continent. Now that the war is over, it’s certainly impossible to send all ships back to the Western Continent empty, one must maximize profits.
"Hello, could you please give me three ship tickets to Linshui." Entering the bustling hall, the old butler assisted the lady to the end of the queue, patiently waiting in line. The queue moved at a decent pace, and soon it was their turn. The old butler courteously spoke to the ticket seller, wearing a well-timed smile that made him seem friendly yet respectful.
"VIP tickets." He added, hoping for a more comfortable journey.
The ticket seller was a young man, he raised his head, his gaze lingering on the old butler for a moment. The butler’s refined attire and impeccable hairstyle emphasized his remarkable status. The ticket seller didn’t say much, only professionally stating, "Sir, please show your identification and special passes."
Though the war has just ended, Brunas City, shaken by its scenes of widespread conflict, still feels the aftermath of war. Soldiers patrolling the streets, and military trucks laden with supplies, moving to and fro, seemingly reminding people of the brutal nature of war.
In order to support the war in the Eastern Continent, Tang Country mobilized a vast amount of resources and personnel from the Western Continent. Now, with the war nearing its conclusion, many related resources and personnel are returning to the Western Continent, causing the port of Brunas City to become exceedingly busy.
To maintain post-war order and prevent some lawbreakers from sneaking into the Western Continent amidst the chaos, the Tang Country government, while restoring navigation, also strengthened control over the movement of personnel. Anyone wishing to go to the Western Continent needs to obtain a special pass, with approval required to gain access.
Of course, such a pass isn’t difficult to acquire, as long as one’s identity is clean and without a criminal record, it can generally be processed smoothly. The intention of Tang Country’s government is quite apparent; they just want to eliminate potential risks as much as possible, avoiding unnecessary trouble. Yet, it merely constitutes the first layer of screening, and is by no means stringent.
"Oh, here they are." The old butler responded, slowly taking out three documents from his pocket and handed them to the other party: "We prefer tickets on the next departing ship, preferably leaving today..."
The ticket seller accepted the documents, lowered his head, and inspected them carefully one by one. He first picked up the old butler’s document, glanced at the photo, then looked up to compare it again with the butler himself, verified the photo and the person matched, and then checked the identity information and issuing date on the document, ensuring its authenticity and validity. At last, he picked up the stamp, sealing the butler’s pass, having completed this procedure, he picked up a second document, meticulously repeating the verification process.
This document belonged to the lady standing behind the butler. The ticket seller glanced at the photo, immediately captivated by the woman’s beauty shown in the picture, he couldn’t help but raise his head to look at her several times. The woman’s skin was fair and delicate, like porcelain, her large expressive eyes seemingly talking, her charming little nose and cherry lips, adding an extra pinch of allure and radiance.
The ticket seller, despite seeing countless beauties, had never seen someone as elegant in demeanor and striking in looks as the woman before him, he couldn’t help but secretly marvel, "What a peerless beauty!"
The ticket seller quickly sealed the document, fearing his improper behavior might attract her attention. The last document belonged to the tall man standing behind the lady, the ticket seller glanced at the photo and looked up at the man, noting his rugged physique and sharp eyes, appearing to be expertly trained.
It was obvious that the woman was the leading figure among the three, the tall man behind was evidently the bodyguard, and the old man resembling a butler before him was responsible for handling matters. Such a combination typically implies wealth and high societal status, so the ticket seller dared not slack off, promptly stamped them, and neatly placed the three documents aside.
