Multiple Personalities-Chapter 457: Vines and the Giant
The three stood back-to-back together and dashed towards the open area. The vampiric bats chased relentlessly behind them, their cries growing sharper as if celebrating victory. Lin Yu felt his stamina draining quickly, each step becoming increasingly difficult. But he gritted his teeth, holding on with only one belief in his heart: they must break through.
Just as they were about to reach the open area, several gigantic vines suddenly emerged from the ground. The vines were as agile as snakes and quickly ensnared their feet. The three lost their balance and fell to the ground. The vampiric bats took the opportunity to swarm them, launching an attack.
"We're finished, we're definitely dead this time." Lin Yu closed his eyes in despair, as if he could already see himself drained of blood by the vampiric bats. His heart was full of regret, remorseful for coming to this dangerous forest and being entangled in this unknown conspiracy.
Shen Jingqi struggled to break free from the vines' grip, but the vines tightened more, leaving him unable to move. His eyes showed anger and unwillingness; he refused to die here like this. He still had unfinished missions and needed to stop the black-clothed men and the mysterious organization's conspiracies.
Li Baiyu closed her eyes, concentrated, and tried to control the vines with her power. Her forehead veins bulged, and a painful expression showed on her face. After a while, the vines finally loosened slightly. She opened her eyes and shouted, "Everyone, break free from the vines and run over there!"
The three used all their strength and finally freed themselves from the vines' grip. Ignoring the pain on their bodies, they sprinted towards the open area. The vampiric bats pursued closely, but their speed was so fast that the distance gradually widened.
As they reached the open area, they collapsed exhausted to the ground. Panting heavily, they watched the vampiric bats retreating into the distance, hearts filled with the relief of surviving the ordeal.
"How many more dangers are waiting for us in this forest?" Lin Yu said weakly, his eyes revealing a trace of fear and confusion. He didn't know how to proceed nor if he had the courage to continue.
Shen Jingqi sat up and gazed into the distance, saying, "No matter how much danger there is, we cannot give up. The mysterious organization's conspiracy continues; we must stop them." His eyes showed firmness and determination, as if a flame was burning.
Li Baiyu stood and dusted off her clothes, saying, "That's right, we can't let these difficulties defeat us. We must continue forward, find the Crystal Ball, and uncover the mysterious organization's conspiracy." Her eyes revealed a resilience and wisdom; she knew only by finding the Crystal Ball could they take control and halt the organization's evil plans.
After resting for a while, the three continued deeper into the forest. They didn't know what awaited them, but they knew to preserve world peace and tranquility, they'd spare no cost.
As they delved deeper, the scenery grew increasingly bizarre. Trees took twisted shapes, some resembling distorted human bodies, others like clawed monsters. Enormous footprints covered the ground, their origin unknown. An acrid smell permeated the air, making one's stomach churn.
"This place is getting stranger; I feel eyes watching us in the shadows." Lin Yu spoke softly, his body trembling involuntarily. His intuition told him even greater dangers lurked here, and those hidden eyes could launch an attack at any moment.
Shen Jingqi gripped the dagger tightly, vigilantly scanning around, saying, "Be careful, everyone; this place is no ordinary site." His nerves were on edge, walking with utmost caution for fear of triggering a lethal trap.
Li Baiyu closed her eyes again to sense the surroundings. After a while, she opened her eyes, her face paling. "I sense a tremendously powerful evil aura nearby, and it seems to have noticed us." Her words sank Lin Yu and Shen Jingqi's hearts; they knew this was possibly their strongest foe yet.
At that moment, the ground suddenly shook violently. The three hurriedly steadied themselves, looking around in terror. Ahead, a small hill slowly cracked open as a gigantic figure emerged from within. It was a giant several meters tall, its body made of stone and earth, with eyes glowing red and emitting low roars. It held a massive stone pillar, ready to smash it down at any moment.
"What...what is this monster?" Lin Yu exclaimed in horror, his voice trembling with fear. He'd never seen such a colossal monster, feeling like a small ant about to be crushed.
Shen Jingqi took a deep breath, saying, "No matter what it is, we have to fight." His eyes showed resolve; despite the fear within, he knew they had no path to retreat.
Li Baiyu swiftly formed seals with her hands, preparing to attack. "Be cautious; this giant won't be easy to handle." Though her voice remained calm, tension was apparent. She could feel the giant's energy was stronger than any monster they'd previously encountered.
The giant gazed at the three, let out a roar, and lifted the stone pillar, smashing it down. The pillar carried immense power, seemingly capable of shattering the whole world. The three hurriedly dodged to the sides; the pillar hit the ground, raising dust and forming a huge pit.
Lin Yu seized the chance to move behind the giant, timing his swing with a longsword at the giant's leg. But the sword only sparked against the giant's leg, causing no harm. The giant noticed Lin Yu's attack, turned around, and stomped at Lin Yu. Lin Yu backed away quickly but was grazed by the giant's foot, thrown aside and landing heavily.
Shen Jingqi aimed and threw his dagger at the giant's eye. But the giant sensed his attack and closed its eye; the dagger struck its eyelid, causing no damage. The giant opened its eyes, glaring angrily at Shen Jingqi, wielding the stone pillar to smash him. Shen Jingqi rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the blow.
Li Baiyu attacked, shooting a ray of light at the giant. The giant extended a hand blocking the light, and while the light burst on its hand, the giant only staggered, unharmed.
"This won't work; we need a way to defeat it." Lin Yu struggled to his feet, his body aching, knowing they had to quickly find a method to defeat the giant.
