Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 723: He’s Been Unlikeable Since Childhood
Phoebe King knew exactly what Norman Sutton was contemplating and deliberately teased him, saying, "You might not trust others, but my cousin is genuinely a good man. Just ask your brother-in-law; he’s absolutely reliable."
Without hesitating, Norman Sutton replied, "My brother-in-law isn’t reliable either; asking him is pointless."
Audrey Sutton lifted her hand, tossed the freshly peeled orange peel at Norman Sutton, and protectively said, "You’re the unreliable one!"
Norman Sutton tucked Lana Holloway’s phone into his pocket, forcibly preventing Phoebe King’s cousin from marrying Lana Holloway.
Not long after, Hazel Yates returned with Samuel Sutton, and as the family gathered to eat, Phoebe King pulled Lana Holloway to sit beside her and deliberately discussed the earlier matter with Hazel Yates right in front of Norman Sutton.
Hazel Yates listened and agreed, saying, "That’s a good idea! I’m worried Lana might be coaxed away by some mischievous guy in the future; since your cousin is considered family, if it works out, it would be great. But ultimately, it depends on whether Lana likes him."
Upon hearing Hazel Yates’ remarks, Norman Sutton said, "Her cousin is settled in France; if you send your little apprentice abroad, I’m afraid your Yates Couture might need a new successor."
Hazel Yates replied, "That would be good too. Lana promoting us abroad is also a form of inheritance."
Phoebe King fueled the conversation, adding, "Moreover, my cousin could develop his career here. He’s been eyeing a venue in the country for a long time; if he marries here, he’ll definitely stay."
Norman Sutton glanced at the silent Lana Holloway and felt her lack of opposition seemed like genuine consent to the marriage, so he sarcastically remarked, "If she can marry, let it be; after all, not many men fancy her. If someone wants to marry her, she certainly won’t be picky."
Though Lana Holloway felt discontented with Norman Sutton’s comments, she chose not to argue directly with him in front of everyone, instead bowing her head and taking a bite of rice.
Hazel Yates defended Lana Holloway, giving Norman Sutton a glare and saying, "I doubt anyone would marry you in the future!"
Audrey Sutton whispered to Lana Holloway, "Ignore him. He’s been annoying since he was a kid." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Laura Yates humorously added, "Probably just sour grapes!"
Six overheard this and exclaimed angrily, "I don’t like grapes."
Audrey Sutton and her sisters-in-law immediately burst into laughter, while Samuel Sutton glared at Norman Sutton, saying, "Who are you calling an old man?"
Hazel Yates laughed and mediated, "Alright, alright, just hurry up and eat. Audrey, once you’ve finished, quickly deliver the chicken soup to Shane; it’s chilly today, and it’ll cool quickly."
After the meal, Samuel Sutton instructed Six to deliver documents to their third brother, while Audrey Sutton took advantage of the ride with Anna, asking Norman Sutton to drop them at Shane’s company.
The car stopped at the company entrance, light snow falling outside. Audrey Sutton and Anna, dressed warmly, clumsily got out of the car.
As Audrey Sutton carried Anna off the car, Norman Sutton handed Audrey Sutton the insulated box containing the chicken soup.
Audrey Sutton, holding Anna, didn’t find it difficult initially, but with Norman Sutton forcing the box onto her, she worried about the soup spilling, needing to free one hand to hold the box.
Standing by the car door, she discontentedly looked at Norman Sutton and said, "Aren’t you coming up with me? I can’t carry it like this."
Norman Sutton stayed in the car and grumpily replied, "Ask your husband to come down and get it himself!"
He left right after speaking.
Audrey Sutton cursed at the car, feeling her arm weaken while holding Anna with one hand, hurriedly heading toward the company to seek help from the security guard at the door.
Unexpectedly, she ran into Vincent Warner walking over from the side of the lobby.
Seeing Audrey Sutton struggling, Vincent Warner ignored his speaking assistant and quickly approached, taking Anna into his arms. Anna, unfazed, curiously glanced at Vincent Warner and obediently nestled in his arm, looking at Audrey Sutton.
"Bringing food for Shane?"
Audrey Sutton shyly smiled and said, "Yes, he didn’t come home today, and my mom’s worried he won’t eat well outside."
Vincent Warner gently pointed towards the elevator with his chin, saying, "Come on, I’ll take you up."
Audrey Sutton hesitated for half a second, saying, "Mr. Warner, if you’re busy, I can ask a staff member to accompany me up."
Vincent Warner smiled, saying, "It’s fine; I need to head to the office. The child has been born for so long, and as his uncle, I haven’t properly held him yet."
Audrey Sutton chuckled and walked with Vincent Warner towards the elevator door.
She knew that Shane’s attitude towards Vincent Warner had improved over time; although there wasn’t much personal interaction, they had started consulting each other on work matters.
Once inside the elevator, Audrey Sutton reached out to press the floor button while Vincent Warner looked down at Anna, wide-eyed and curiously gazing around in his arms, saying, "This child looks so much like Shane did as a kid."
Audrey Sutton laughed and said, "Everyone says that, but I hope he won’t grow up to be as mature-looking as his dad."
Vincent Warner said, "Shane was quite mischievous as a child, but later..."
Vincent Warner paused, his expression darkening, saying, "After his brother passed away, he changed a lot."
Understanding this topic touched Vincent Warner’s pain, Audrey Sutton shifted the conversation, saying, "It’s no wonder he insists on me having a second child; I do think it’s nice to have siblings."
"Indeed, having more children is good," Vincent Warner said, his eyes deepening as if recalling someone.
Audrey Sutton was curious and wanted to ask Vincent Warner about whether he still had contact with Chloe Swift, but refrained, sensing their relationship wasn’t close enough for gossip.
Exiting the elevator, Mor appeared, prompting Vincent Warner to discreetly leave Anna with Mor, concerned Shane might be displeased seeing him with Audrey Sutton, then returned to his office.
Watching Vincent Warner walk away alone, it felt like he carried many burdens.
Pushing open Shane’s office door, Shane sat at his desk, gently tapping the keyboard.
Despite his young age, Anna recognized the father he often saw, babbling upon seeing Shane, catching Shane’s attention.
Looking up to see his wife and child, Shane paused his work, got up, and walked over. Anna’s tiny hands instantly reached out to Shane, who naturally took him into his arms.
Holding Anna with one hand and picking up Audrey Sutton’s cold hand with the other, Shane worriedly said, "Why come over in such cold weather? I told you I’d eat at the company."
