Chapter 67: Chapter 67: The Foolish Daughter of the Landlord’s Family

Shane put away the gauze on the table, got up, took Audrey Sutton’s hand, and walked into his resting area. He pointed to the bathroom in the corner and said, "There’s hot water inside, take a shower."

Even if your hair gets dry after being in the rain, it still feels uncomfortable. Audrey Sutton was thinking about washing up.

Shane stepped back to the door and said to her, "There’s a computer in the room. After you’re done, stay inside. If you’re tired, you can sleep for a while. I’ll call you when I get off work, so don’t wander around."

"Oh... and remember to eat your meal."

Shane didn’t respond, closed the door behind him, and went outside. He held a lunch box and chatted with Julian Bishop while eating.

Julian Bishop is thirty-two this year and could be considered Shane’s mentor when he first entered the jewelry design industry.

At that time, Julian Bishop had his own small jewelry company abroad. He admired Shane and offered him a high salary to work as a designer at his company.

Over years of collaboration, they became good friends. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

Due to some family issues, Julian Bishop’s own company closed a year ago.

So, when both companies were understaffed, Shane thought of him immediately.

He trusted Julian Bishop’s skills and character, which is why he felt confident handing over his own company to Julian Bishop to manage.

It was Audrey Sutton’s first time having an opportunity to explore his private space. After showering, she looked around everywhere.

Apart from some personal clothing and daily necessities, there weren’t many things related to his personal privacy.

But the thought of having such a resting room in the office made Audrey Sutton’s mind wander to some impure images.

She immediately lifted the light gray blanket spread on the bed, bent over to check the two pillows at the head of the bed, turned the pillows over and over, and searched carefully on the bedsheet, even the carpet wasn’t spared.

Thankfully, she didn’t find any suspicious hair strands.

It seems he is quite honest; that duplicitous Secretary Irving hasn’t climbed into his bed yet.

After the meeting ended at around eight, Shane took Julian Bishop around to familiarize himself with the company and briefed him on the recent projects and progress.

Finally, he had Faye Xavier personally escort Julian Bishop to the accommodations Shane had arranged for him, officially wrapping up everything.

By the time he finished all of that, it was nearly eleven.

Shane immediately went upstairs to find Audrey Sutton.

At this hour, the company was practically deserted.

Shane exited the elevator and walked down the corridor toward his office. Suddenly, Lan Irving came out from the assistant’s office with a stack of files, looked at Shane and paused, then asked, "President Warner, still not off work?"

"I’ll leave in a bit."

Lan Irving nodded, locked the office door, and asked Shane, "... Are you going to come to the company less often in the future?"

Shane paused and looked at her, saying, "Mm, in the future, directly find President Bishop if there’s anything. I’ve already briefed him."

Lan Irving pursed her lips and softly asked him with a frown, "President Warner, can you let it go? This is the company you founded from scratch. Are you really going to leave everything here behind?"

Lan Irving had been by Shane’s side since the company’s inception, and she knew how difficult the journey had been.

Others only saw his rapid success, but only those who walked with him this entire way knew that he put in more energy and time than most people behind the scenes.

Shane had thought Lan Irving’s emotions had been a bit off lately but only said, "I’m merely handing it over for him to manage; I didn’t say I’m giving up Starfield. You don’t have to worry too much. Just continue doing your previous work well."

"Honey~" A sweet and tender voice echoed through the empty corridor.

It was so melodious that it made Shane’s heart flutter. He turned his head and saw Audrey Sutton wearing one of his white shirts, standing by his office door, peeking half of her body to look at him.

He knew that this tender "Honey" was called out for Lan Irving to hear, yet he still felt quite satisfied.

"It’s late. Let’s go back." After saying that, Shane started walking toward Audrey Sutton.

His shirt looked a bit loose on her, the long hem more than sufficient as a dress, and her bare feet stepped into his large men’s slippers, her dark eyes carrying a dreamy sleepiness, as if she had just woken up.

Perhaps it was the enchantment of that "Honey," but Shane found her particularly charming at that moment.

Lan Irving only saw Shane walk to the door and whisper something to Audrey Sutton before the two went back inside the office and closed the door.

Pondering deeply, she turned to enter the elevator, raised her eyes to the tightly closed office door, watching as the elevator doors slowly shut, severing her line of sight, but not the restraint and reluctance in Lan Irving’s eyes.

"What were you two talking about just now?" Audrey Sutton asked casually as she emerged from the rest area, having changed her clothes, and looking at Shane arranging files on the desk.

Shane glanced at her and softly explained, "I’m preparing to hand Starfield over to that Mr. Bishop you saw today, so we discussed the handover tasks."

"Are you selling Starfield?" Audrey Sutton didn’t even care about what he and Lan Irving were discussing earlier and instead captured this even more shocking news.

Shane smiled, holding the arranged files, and as he headed toward the office door, he said to Audrey Sutton, who was following him, "Not selling, to be accurate, I’ll be a hands-off owner. Starting tomorrow, I’ll officially manage The Warner’s affairs."

Only then did Audrey Sutton nod in understanding, almost forgetting that he’s still The Warner’s heir.

Going back to The Warner is good; at least she won’t have to worry about that Secretary Irving causing trouble every day.

The rain was still falling at this time, but not as heavily as it was at dusk.

As they walked to the porch, the driver had already parked the car at the entrance, waiting for them.

Shane held the umbrella for Audrey Sutton, opened the car door for her, and protected her as she got into the car, then turned to walk to the other side and take his seat.

The car slowly started, and Shane glanced at her bandaged right hand, asking, "Will it affect your drawing?"

Audrey Sutton, following his gaze, realized he was asking about her hand injury. She smiled, raised her hand, waved it in front of him, even made a few fist-tightening movements to show her hand was very flexible: "It won’t. As long as I can hold a pen, it’s fine."

"Today, you were lucky; otherwise, you might be lying in a hospital now."

"That’s because I’m blessed with great fortune. Haven’t you heard that the great calamity brings great fortune?"

Seeing her optimistic demeanor, Shane couldn’t help but chuckle, "Has anyone ever told you that you’re just like..."

Audrey Sutton curiously hurried to ask, "Like what?"

"The silly daughter of a rich landlord."
