Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 647: I’m Your Father
Audrey Sutton put on a stern face: "You scoundrel! I’m hanging up!"
Even though she said that, she couldn’t really bring herself to hang up just like that.
Shane Warner originally wanted to ask about that benefit picture in the group chat, but after pondering, he didn’t know how to phrase it; asking would reveal he had secretly joined her readers’ group, right?
So he decided to let it go since it wasn’t the first time he’d found out she drew explicit pictures.
The only thing that bothered him was that the hand in the drawing was his!
He swore there wouldn’t be a next time!
"Finish up your shower and go to bed. I’ve already mentioned your situation to Faye Xavier, just call him when you go out tomorrow, and he’ll drive over to pick you up."
Audrey Sutton nodded and asked, "Things must be lively over there today, right? Didn’t you go out to have some fun?"
Shane Warner: "What’s fun about being alone?"
Audrey Sutton purposely said, "You could find someone to accompany you; I’ve heard ladies in Serephina are elegant and beautiful, and they also..."
Before she finished her sentence, Shane Warner coldly interrupted the hole she was digging: "Phoebe King grew up in Serephina; do you think she’s elegant?"
Audrey Sutton glared at him: "You’re not allowed to talk about my sister-in-law!"
Shane Warner rolled his eyes at Audrey Sutton: "Alright, finish your shower and go to sleep quickly; I should be back in a couple of days."
Audrey Sutton: "Okay, if you get really bored, go hang out with Mor, take some nice pictures and send them to me."
Shane Warner: "Do I need your arrangements? Just behave yourself tomorrow."
Audrey Sutton: "I suspect you asked Brother Xavier and the others to follow me just to spy on me."
Shane Warner candidly admitted: "That’s one way to understand it, killing two birds with one stone."
"Hmph, no trust between people at all."
"Alright, quickly finish your shower, the water’s getting cold."
"Okay then, bye-bye, I miss you a lot."
Shane Warner chuckled, but he didn’t echo Audrey Sutton with an "I miss you too," instead urging her to tidy up and go to bed.
After hanging up, Shane Warner sat by the bed, watching the bustling scene below, feeling a bit lonely instead.
Even though he knew Audrey Sutton wasn’t lacking company at home, he still wanted to return to her side as soon as possible because he missed her too, and daily chats and video calls over the phone weren’t nearly enough.
He only hoped the snowstorm would stop soon.
Back at home.
Past one o’clock in the morning, on a night snack street along the river, the barbecue stall business was at its peak of the day.
The cold night didn’t change these young people’s nightlife.
"Jasmine, you need to practice your drinking, all of us are still drinking and you’ve only had a few glasses, your face is all red."
"Jaz is naturally not good at drinking, but she can still handle the tasks given by clients, that’s her skill."
Jasmine Lucas grabbed another bunch of skewers from the grill, munching while saying: "Drinking just makes my stomach bloated, and it doesn’t taste good; eating meat is much more satisfying."
"I think Jaz just came here for a free meal, look at all those skewers by her side, the rest of us together don’t have as many as she does."
"And she never gets fat no matter how much she eats; isn’t that annoying?"
"What’s there to be annoyed about? She doesn’t get fatter, but she doesn’t grow taller either." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Saying this, the other girls at the table burst into laughter, and Jasmine just glared at them, not for the first time being teased about her height, she couldn’t be bothered to react.
After finishing the skewers in her hand, she burped and stood up, saying: "I’m full, got a headache, not staying here freezing with you, I’m heading back."
"Pay the bill before you leave!"
Jasmine shamelessly grinned and said, "I’m as broke as a joke, not paying this bill, ask Miss Jennings to reimburse it."
Saying that, Jasmine picked up her bag and left briskly.
The headache wasn’t an excuse; wandering out today, the snowy wind made her ears ache.
She flagged a cab by the roadside, feeling dizzy on the ride, not wanting to think about anything but to take a hot shower and dive into a warm bed to sleep.
Jasmine asked the driver to stop by the 24-hour pharmacy at the intersection, went in and bought some cold medicine.
She always valued her life, considering she had no one taking care of her since childhood; she had to take care of herself to not let herself down.
The pharmacy was right across from her place, just a street crossing away.
When Jasmine entered the building, she noticed a black car parked by the roadside but didn’t give it any thought, yawning as she walked inside.
The elevator was on the eleventh floor, while waiting for it to come down, Jasmine tiredly stepped inside, pressed the button for her floor, and then the close door button.
As the elevator doors were about to close, an arm suddenly extended through the gap, instantly reopening the doors, giving Jasmine a scare that jolted her wide awake.
Seeing the person who stopped the elevator, Jasmine was even more terrified.
"You... you!" she stammered, so frightened and nervous that she couldn’t speak properly.
Faye Xavier curled his mouth into a mischievous smile: "What’s wrong, girl? Surprised to see your father?"
Jasmine swallowed, instinctively wanting to get out, but Faye, as if predicting her move, blocked her with one hand and pressed the close door button with the other.
Once the elevator doors fully closed and the numbers began to ascend, Faye removed his hand and smiled, saying: "Your dad’s been waiting all night, where’d you go? Coming back just now."
Jasmine frowned and questioned him: "How do you know I live here?!"
Faye: "I’m your dad, of course I’ve got to find out where my precious daughter lives."
Displeased, Jasmine retorted: "Old man, I’m your father! You mongrel!"
Just as the words left her mouth, Faye gripped Jasmine’s cheeks hard: "Still acting tough with me? Know your current situation?"
"I’m telling you, there are cameras in this elevator! If you dare act up, I assure you won’t get away with it!" she said this while discreetly rummaging through her bag for her phone, planning to call the cops.
But before she could even light up the screen, the phone fell into Faye’s hand and was directly pocketed by him.
"I was all set to let it go, but you brought this on yourself, so let’s settle the score tonight!"
Seeing her only escape route blocked, Jasmine’s tone softened: "Do you have to be so petty, big guy? It’s just a couple of harsh words, no pain, no itch, and no blood, why are you being so persistent?"
"You think I’m a fool? You were smug when you ran off; thought I couldn’t catch you?"
"Bro, I was wrong, I apologize, I repent, do you believe me if I say I was drunk and mistook you for someone else?"
"If I believed that, I really would be your dad!"
Jasmine: "To be honest, if I didn’t look closely, you do look like my dad, so I mistook you, it was all a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding. If you really feel I owe you, how about you call me ’mom’, then it’s settled, okay?"
Listening to this, Faye got even angrier. The elevator dinged open, and Faye forcefully pulled Jasmine out, looking around the corridor, asking her: "Which one?"
Jasmine: "Weren’t you so capable you investigated it?"
Faye snickered, "I gave you a chance, and you wasted it."
Saying this, Faye took a look at the room number sequence, grabbed Jasmine towards her place...
