Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 546: Prejudiced Against Dou Dizhu
Shane placed a rib from the soup into Audrey’s bowl and replied casually, "Not going out, just staying home with you."
Audrey said, "Actually, I’m not trying to keep you tied to me. If you have things to do, just go ahead. I just hope when I go to the hospital for check-ups, you can accompany me. Since you’re the child’s father, I think you should be involved in these things. Plus, at the hospital, seeing others with their husbands along makes me feel lonely if I go alone."
Shane nodded, "We’ll go together from now on. Are you feeling any different now?"
Audrey shook her head, "I’ve just had a poor appetite during that period, but now I don’t feel anything special. I just feel my stomach is a bit full. I think I’ve gained weight. I read online it’s usually around three months when you start to show."
Shane said, "Gaining a bit of weight is good."
As he spoke, he placed another rib into her bowl, "Eat whatever you want, don’t worry about gaining weight. I won’t mind."
Audrey pouted and said, "You say you won’t mind now, but if I really become a big fatty, you’ll definitely run off with another woman."
"Then you can eat and try getting fat."
Audrey, savoring the rib, said, "If you and I both get fat, then neither of us can complain."
Shane said, "I don’t eat as much as you."
Audrey retorted confidently, "Right now, I can eat for two with one mouth, what’s wrong with eating more?"
Shane smiled indulgently and continued placing a few more ribs into her bowl, "Eat as much as you want; your husband can afford to feed you."
Audrey lowered her head, contentedly eating the ribs, and then heard Shane ask, "With this big matter settled, are you planning to continue working?"
"Do you want me to?"
Shane answered without hesitation, "No."
Audrey smiled, "Then I won’t go."
Shane looked at her with some curiosity, "When did you become so obedient?"
Audrey pouted, "Work isn’t fun, and if I’m not working with you, we hardly see each other during the day."
Shane said, "What’s this? You mean you want to be my personal secretary?"
Audrey said, "I’d like to, but I know it’s not my thing. I’d just be causing trouble, so I’ll stick to meeting up with Sister Phoebe for card games."
Shane glared at her, "I told you to stop hanging around with her."
Audrey said, "Sister Phoebe is different now. She’s being kept in line by my brother. Don’t be so biased against her."
Shane said with irritation, "Someone who takes you to play cards can’t be that proper. A decent person would take you to the theater to watch plays and listen to music."
Audrey said, "Has my mom brainwashed you? She followed my grandma, loving music and plays, but I’d get sleepy listening as a kid."
Shane said, "Cultivating one’s taste is good; it’s far better than playing cards."
Audrey said, "You’re just biased against card games, or maybe just against Sister Phoebe. If it were my brother taking me to play cards, you probably wouldn’t think so."
Shane said, "Your brother wouldn’t do such a thing. See, that’s the difference between people. With Phoebe you’re bound to turn frivolous eventually."
Audrey sighed lightly, reached out to ladle another bowl of soup, and muttered, "No point talking about it. I’ll just do whatever I enjoy."
In the afternoon, Shane returned to work at the office, and Audrey started preparing for the second season of her comic. As for Barry Barrett, he was still working in the finance department to fulfill school requirements.
With her bubbly personality, she easily mingled with others, so Audrey wasn’t worried about her adjusting there.
Now that both Barry Barrett and Flora Lane were at work, Seraphina Vaughn seemed a bit bored on her own.
Apart from traveling and having fun, she had no particular hobbies. Even when their family ran a casino, she didn’t enjoy gambling herself, only playing when friends were around.
Unlike Flora Lane and Barry Barrett, she didn’t have a romantic heart, so without friends around, she’d just stay in her dorm watching shows.
She was watching Clarissa Morgan’s latest work, not as a fan, but was being a keyboard warrior in the comments, criticizing Clarissa’s stiff acting and mismatched timing with the dubbing actors.
While watching, she complained in their dorm chat group. Flora Lane, who knew quite a bit about dubbing, said the actor’s basic skills were lacking, the dialogue timing was off, making it hard for dubbing actors.
Most were watching the show for Simon Sue, and maybe because Clarissa Morgan was known for her positive persona, combined with previous collaborations with Simon Sue, his fans were familiar with her and quite forgiving, saying things like: "She never studied acting, being this good is already impressive. Believe she’ll improve with time."
Seraphina Vaughn exclaimed she wanted to debut, saying money in the film industry seemed too easy to earn.
Flora Lane couldn’t help but reply, saying: having a wealthy husband is the prerequisite.
Even Barry Barrett chimed in during work hours, saying: Brother Seraphina, I think they’re just mocking us for being single. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
The next second, Seraphina Vaughn changed the group name to "Single Aristocrats Alliance" and followed up with: You two can leave the group; you’re not welcome here.
Barry Barrett joined in, saying: Exactly, always flaunting their relationships, been annoyed for a while now, especially with Sutton!
Audrey laughed while looking at her phone and teasingly turned her nose up at them, scooped a spoonful of plum soup Shane had made, snapped a photo and sent it over, saying: "My husband made this plum soup, it’s especially fragrant and delicious. Come try it some other day."
Seraphina Vaughn said: Flora, kick her out!
Flora Lane replied: I wouldn’t dare; if she cries to Third Young Master, I can’t outfight her husband.
Barry Barrett asked: Wouldn’t your boyfriend help you? Hey, who do you think would win in a fight between Third Young Master and Mor?
Audrey joked about her husband, saying: They’d probably just chat over tea; no fight would actually break out.
All jokes aside, no one was really serious about it.
As the conversation went on, they started talking about tomorrow’s comic exhibition. Barry Barrett was definitely attending, Audrey had already arranged time with Shane, and Flora and Seraphina, being free, also said they’d tag along for the fun.
Once they finished discussing, Audrey received a call from the delivery service, letting her know her online-order clothes had arrived, so she immediately went out to pick up the package.
Recommended by Barry Barrett, the store’s clothing was more expensive compared to others, but the style and quality were impeccable, with the fabric feeling especially comfortable.
The newly delivered clothes had some creases, so Audrey carefully hand-washed them, and as the afternoon sun dried them halfway, she used the iron to smooth them out diligently.
