Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 257: Feeling Great
Audrey Sutton had never seen Phoebe King driving this car, but there weren’t many people driving sports cars on the street, and Phoebe liked eye-catching cars like this.
So when the sports car slowly rolled to a stop, Audrey guessed it was probably Phoebe.
Sure enough, as the car door opened, Phoebe stepped out from the driver’s seat.
Phoebe was wearing a burgundy floral dress and black flat ankle boots, looking very casual.
"Audrey, you came so early?"
"I had a meal with my sister-in-law outside, and after we finished, I came straight over." Audrey walked forward and asked Phoebe, "How’s your tooth?"
Phoebe sighed, "Don’t even mention it, had to be on an IV drip for two days just to get the inflammation down. I’m here to get it pulled out. Have you ever had a tooth pulled? Does it hurt?"
Audrey shook her head; she hadn’t been tormented by wisdom teeth yet.
The two walked arm in arm into the hospital, a private one, not very large, with just one doctor and two assistants.
The doctor was a young lady who wore a mask, so her features weren’t clear. However, she seemed particularly gentle, both in her tone and actions, making people feel especially at ease.
The usually fearless Phoebe was now both timid and nervous, lying on the chair, watching the young lady doctor picking up the tooth extraction tools. She asked, "Will it hurt?"
The doctor smiled and said, "It’ll hurt a bit when the anesthesia is injected, and it will hurt after the anesthesia wears off."
As she spoke, she took the anesthetic needle handed to her by the assistant, saying, "Better short-term pain than long-term pain."
Phoebe agreed, "That’s true."
Audrey sat on the side, feeling a chill in her heart just looking at the tooth extraction tools, an inexplicable fear of hospitals.
Seeing Phoebe open her mouth and the anesthesia needle go in...
Audrey didn’t dare to keep watching, frowning tightly as if the needle had pierced her own body, just looking at it felt painful.
They had to wait for the anesthesia to take effect, so the doctor went to see other patients.
Phoebe lay on the chair, turning her head to chat with Audrey, and asked, "Is your big brother still staying at school recently?"
Audrey replied, "Yeah, but he went out of town for an exam the day before yesterday; he might not be back until the day after tomorrow."
"No wonder when I went to find him yesterday, I knocked on the door till it nearly broke, but no one answered."
"Why didn’t you call first to ask? If my brother ignores you, you can call me; I’ll ask and then get back to you."
Hearing this, Phoebe looked at her with gratitude, "You’re great, Audrey."
Audrey laughed and said, "I have some good news for you. My big brother’s matchmaking with Ms. Sherman fell through. When Auntie Sherman came to my house to see my mom that day, I heard it with my own ears. My mom said she would love Rosalind Sherman to marry into the family, but my brother sees her as a sister. Since it’s their lives to live as young people, they should respect my brother’s feelings, so it’s put on hold for now."
Phoebe’s lips curled up in satisfaction, but then she thought of something, and the smile faded as she asked Audrey, "So is your brother going to be matched with another girl soon?"
Audrey nodded with a smile, "Yeah, guess who my mom’s planning to match him with?"
Phoebe frowned, seriously thinking for two seconds, "Who else? Another wealthy family’s daughter? Is she pretty? Go get some intel for me."
Audrey stopped teasing her, "It’s you, the pretty young lady."
"What?!"
"My mom particularly likes you and wants to match you with my third brother. I was afraid this would mess things up, so I told her about you liking my big brother. She even said you should have told her earlier, so she wouldn’t have set up the matchmaking with Rosalind Sherman." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Phoebe asked incredulously, "Did Auntie really say that?"
"Would I lie to you, Sister Phoebe? Besides, my mom likes you, so you’re halfway there with my brother."
Phoebe let out a slight scoff; after being coldly treated by Stephen Sutton, she wasn’t very confident, "But even if your mom likes me, it doesn’t help if your brother ignores me."
"My mom will think of a way to help you; my brother will still respect my mom."
Phoebe pondered and a smile appeared on her face. Although the hope was still slim, it was good news after all.
The doctor returned, and the assistant stood nearby handing over tools.
Audrey scrunched up her features again, too nervous to watch, she looked down, reached into her bag, and took out her phone to distract herself.
She originally thought the tooth extraction would take a long time, but after chatting in the dorm group for only a couple of minutes, the doctor said, "All done."
Audrey looked up and saw a bloody tooth fall into the metal tray, and the doctor cleaned the wound with a cotton ball, seriously asking Phoebe, "Do you want to take the tooth home?"
Phoebe, with a cotton ball in her mouth, couldn’t speak, but shook her head without hesitation.
What would she do with that thing?
"Bite down on the cotton ball. Spit it out in forty minutes. Don’t brush your teeth for twenty-four hours. When eating, avoid this side and eat lightly."
Phoebe nodded, the inability to speak was probably quite tough for her.
"These are painkillers. The pain will be quite noticeable today and tomorrow, take one when it hurts."
The doctor explained some aftercare instructions and scheduled an appointment to pull the other wisdom tooth.
The whole process took less than half an hour, much quicker than expected.
Phoebe couldn’t talk or eat for a while, so she didn’t hang out with Audrey outside for long and directly drove her home.
When she arrived home, it was almost three in the afternoon. Audrey opened the door and heard the sound of the television inside.
Standing at the entrance, she peeked into the living room and saw Shane Warner in a bathrobe watching TV on the sofa. Audrey was a little surprised, "Didn’t you go to work today?"
Shane turned to look at her and replied, "No work today."
Audrey chuckled and bent over to change her shoes, "You, the big busy person, actually have no work today? Are you feeling unwell?"
"Feeling great."
Audrey looked at him and didn’t think he seemed sick, but his sarcastic tone made it seem like he had a bit of an attitude.
After hanging her coat and bag on the coat rack by the door, she picked up Pea, who was wrapping around her feet, and walked towards the sofa, asking Shane, "What’s up? Who upset you?"
Shane just glanced at her and then turned back to the TV, "Nothing’s up."
Audrey pouted at him, clearly, he was upset about something, but she couldn’t figure out what.
She thought hard; she’d been busy rushing out her drafts recently and hadn’t done anything to annoy him.
A grown man, why is he acting like a little girl?
