Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 223: Do You Like This Gift?
Shane snorted coldly, "Watching some improper stuff every day."
"What do you mean by improper stuff? It’s just regular men’s fashion magazines, alright? I need to collect material for my drawings!"
Shane draped his bathrobe over himself, his long, slender fingers leisurely tying the robe’s belt as he walked toward Audrey Sutton, both his expression and tone equally tempting, "You don’t collect the available material?"
Audrey’s face flushed slightly, a mischievous smile tugging at her lips as she teased Shane, "Are you collecting for me?"
Shane put away all expressions and glared at her coldly, "I see your waist doesn’t hurt anymore."
Audrey was startled, knowing she couldn’t continue teasing, or she’d end up suffering through another night of his antics—her delicate waist couldn’t withstand such torment.
"Enough teasing. I’m here to give you a gift."
Shane raised an eyebrow playfully, looking at her, "Where’s the gift?"
Audrey reached out for the box hidden behind her, smiling as she handed it to him, "I had this specially customized for you; open it and see if you like it!"
Shane reached out to accept it, sitting sideways on the sofa and placing the box on the small table in front of him, gently pulling apart the ribbon wrapped around the box and slowly opening the lid.
In the center of the black foam inside the box was an exquisite perfume bottle.
"The scent is not quite like what you used before; it’s fresh and woodsy, and I think it smells quite nice, really suits you. Take a sniff and see if you like it?"
Audrey finished speaking, her gaze still a bit anxious.
She was particularly worried that he’d be too used to his usual brand and scent, unwilling to accept a new one quickly.
While opening the perfume bottle cap, Shane said, "As long as you like smelling it, it’s you who’ll be smelling it anyway."
Audrey always thought his words were quite ambiguous, but he usually loved teasing her with such remarks, so she dared not take his bait.
Watching him aim the spray head at his left wrist and gently mist it, then flick his hand to hasten the evaporation of alcohol before sniffing from a dozen or twenty centimeters away...
"So, do you like it?"
Shane paused for two seconds, as if seriously analyzing the scent, then said to Audrey, "It’s alright."
Coming from him, "It’s alright" meant he somewhat liked it; at least he didn’t immediately criticize after smelling the scent.
Even though she knew he usually had a sharp tongue, hearing it still wasn’t comfortable.
So Audrey felt that "it’s alright" was alright.
Watching him gently close the bottle cap, Audrey pursed her lips and asked him, "...Do you have anything for me?"
Shane lazily raised his eyes to glance at her, using his chin to point at a cabinet against the wall, "Third drawer from the bottom, go get it yourself."
Audrey instantly ran over.
Though she already knew what the gift was, remembering the effort Shane put into getting it made her especially happy.
Opening the drawer, she saw the box containing the figurine and carefully took it out, deliberately asking him, "Didn’t you say you couldn’t find it?"
Shane snorted coldly, "Is there anything I can’t buy?"
Seeing him speaking so boastfully, Audrey knew he’d probably spent a whole day touring the streets to secure the figurine.
"Thank you." Audrey held the box, somewhat shyly speaking to him.
Shane curled his lips into a smile, capping the perfume box and standing up from the sofa, walking to her with a slightly flirtatious gaze that made Audrey’s face red and brought his words, "I’ve prepared another gift for you."
"Really?" Her eyes instantly filled with anticipation.
Shane stared at her, not speaking, his smile tinged with amusement.
Realizing he seemed to be just teasing her, Audrey’s eyes dimmed and she said, "I knew it was a trick."
"When have I ever lied?" Shane’s eyes retained their amusement as he stepped closer, forcing Audrey to instinctively take a slight step back.
They locked eyes, seeing their reflections mirrored in each other’s eyes. Audrey involuntarily swallowed, thinking he might do something to her, instinctively preparing to close her eyes, when his voice reached her ears, "I’ll close my eyes for ten seconds, and during these ten seconds you can do anything you want. Do you like this gift?" 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
Audrey felt that at this moment he was like a mesmerizing fairy, making her unable to carefully think whether this was a trap.
He straightened up, closed his eyes, and his lips parted to begin the countdown, "Ten, nine, eight..."
Audrey suddenly reacted, her gaze falling on his lips moving with each count, and like a kid sneaking snacks at night, nervous and excited.
With his countdown urging her, she tiptoed and quickly brushed his lips.
The countdown ceased at "three," his voice stopping abruptly, a satisfied smile curling his lips.
But the brief kiss felt a bit unreal to him, and he furrowed his brow, asking her, "That’s it?"
Audrey only looked at him, blushing, her gaze holding delight more than the shy innocence of a young girl.
Shane reminisced about the fleeting touch, clearly unsatisfied.
He reached to hold Audrey’s waist, pulling her into his embrace, the other hand threading through her slightly damp hair, cupping her head to deepen the brief, almost nonexistent kiss.
Already teased till her mind was muddled, Audrey was now even more disoriented, intoxicated within his embrace and the passionate kiss.
When Shane released her, she was breathless, giving him only a hurried glance before daring not to look again.
"Are you satisfied with this gift?" Shane asked, seeing her shy demeanor.
Audrey felt overwhelmingly shy, clutching the figurine box and not daring to give him a glance, hurriedly heading towards the door, "...I’m going to sleep."
She’s afraid if she stays longer, she’ll be led into more trouble by him.
Watching her flee, Shane laughed, "Remember to dry your hair."
Audrey’s step paused, giving an obedient "oh" with her back to him, then she quickly slipped out and closed the door for him.
Back in her room, Audrey quickly locked the door, leaned on it, covering her mouth with her hand, stunned for two seconds as she recalled the kiss; then turned into a giggling fit...
