Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 210: An Important Decision
Audrey Sutton was thinking that after finishing the comic in her hands, she might create another based on her and Shane Warner’s story.
She had envisioned a perfect ending for the comic, but she wasn’t sure if reality would be as beautiful as she imagined.
After all, she couldn’t even find a trace of Shane Warner now.
This made her even more uncertain about their future.
She felt like the marriage was fragile, easily shattered at the slightest touch.
Audrey spent an entire afternoon at the salon, getting a wavy perm. She thought it looked nice, but she wasn’t in the mood to take a photo.
Because all she wanted to do was share it with Shane Warner, even though she knew he wouldn’t respond.
Yesterday, she sent so many messages, saying all the nice things, but he remained unmoved and still hadn’t replied.
"Is Shane not coming for dinner today?"
Audrey paused, then casually made up an excuse, "Well... He’s on a business trip, not sure when he’ll be back."
"It’s New Year’s Eve the day after tomorrow, isn’t he coming back for the reunion dinner?"
"... He should be back, I’ll ask him again by then."
That night, Audrey got a ride home with her fourth brother to pack a few changes of clothes, then took General and Pea back to her parents’ home.
She didn’t know when Shane Warner would return, and she didn’t want to stay home alone anymore.
If he cooled down and wanted to see her, he would probably come to the Suttons to find her, right?
The next day, the house was abuzz with activity, preparing for the New Year. They had already bought a lot of supplies, happily waiting for the holiday, but Audrey could only force a smile with her family, afraid they would notice something wrong.
After lunch, lacking the mood to play with everyone, she used the excuse of taking a nap to return to her room.
Curled up in bed, she flipped through the chat history on her phone, seeing all the messages she had sent him without a single reply.
In two days without contact, Audrey felt like time was dragging on.
Tomorrow was New Year’s Eve, and they had originally planned to have dinner together at home. Would this small conflict and misunderstanding leave a regret for the whole year?
Lying in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep, a restless impulse surged in her heart, and she couldn’t suppress it.
She had to spend this New Year with Shane Warner!
Suddenly, she threw off the covers, sat up, and found Faye Xavier’s phone number.
"Sister-in-law, what’s up?"
There was a faint sound of a woman’s breath over the call, but Audrey couldn’t care if she was interrupting something and asked what she wanted to know, "Brother Xavier, do you know where Shane Warner is now?"
"Eh? Master Shane didn’t tell you?"
"... I can’t reach him."
Faye hesitated, thinking Audrey wanted him to help check on Shane Warner, worried about getting in trouble for revealing anything.
But then, Faye figured, before Shane Warner had his sister-in-law, he lived like a monk. Nothing would come out of checking on him, and he might even welcome his little wife looking for him.
So, Faye said honestly, "Master Shane went to Japan on a business trip with Mor."
Audrey asked, "Do you have a specific address?"
Faye replied, "You’ll have to ask Mor for that. Sister-in-law, hold on, I’ll ask Mor and send the address to you later."
"Alright, thank you, Brother Xavier."
Holding her phone, Audrey thought Faye would wait to finish his business before asking for the address, but unexpectedly, he sent it to her in less than two minutes.
Audrey had been to Japan a few times on vacation and knew a bit of Japanese, so finding the address was no problem.
She immediately booked the first available flight on her phone, and after getting the ticket, quickly changed into date-appropriate clothes. Her newly permed hair needed no styling; she just tucked a delicate hairpin behind her ear, quickly put on some makeup, and rushed downstairs.
While changing shoes at the entrance, she glanced at her family who were staring at her, and said, "I’m going out for a bit."
"Where are you going? Your dad’s going out later, let him drive you."
"No need, I’m in a hurry." After saying this, Audrey waved to her family and hurriedly left, hailing a cab to the airport.
After making this decision, the previously despondent Audrey was now full of energy.
The decision she’d made wasn’t just about going to Japan to find him; it was something even more important.
She wanted to add a protective layer to their marriage, so it wouldn’t be so vulnerable to every small gust of wind.
During the three-hour and fifteen-minute flight, Audrey didn’t sleep for a minute.
The airplane food tasted decent, and when the plane landed, the evening glow was hung in the sky.
Using broken Japanese with the help of a translation app on her phone, she successfully communicated with the driver about the destination.
It was a well-known local hotel where many tourists chose to stay. She’d been around the area during previous trips, so it wasn’t unfamiliar.
When the car stopped outside the hotel, it was already six in the evening.
Standing outside, she looked at the hotel, knowing only that Shane Warner was staying there but not which room.
She entered the hotel, trying to inquire with the front desk staff.
With some gesturing and talking, the staff didn’t understand her. Luckily, they found someone who spoke Chinese; Audrey then explained she was looking for her husband and mentioned Shane Warner’s name. The staff checked the computer, confirmed there was such a person, and that he was staying in room 1608.
Audrey, feeling unsure, asked again, "Is he staying alone?"
The staff nodded, "Yes."
Audrey felt a relief, fearing he might have been meeting foreign girls.
After completing the check-in process, Audrey went upstairs to room 1608.
Approaching the door, she noticed it was slightly ajar. Peering through the gap, she saw nothing discernible, but heard faint noises, indicating someone was inside.
She hadn’t decided what to say to Shane Warner, nor how he’d react to seeing her. If he was even a little surprised, it would be okay, but what if he found her annoying?
Audrey pressed her lips together, thinking she’d already come all this way and was at the door. Could she possibly retreat now?
Taking a deep breath to calm her nervous heartbeat, she reached out, touched the door handle, and gently pushed the door open...
