Chapter 186: Chapter 186: I Love You

Stephen Sutton glanced in the direction of the security guard’s gaze and easily spotted a restless woman standing under a tree by the roadside.

"Ignore her."

After speaking, Stephen Sutton pushed open the door and walked out.

Phoebe King immediately approached him when she saw him, her nose reddened by the cold and her breath visible with each word. "I knew you would definitely come down."

Stephen Sutton asked her sternly, ignoring her cheerful demeanor, "Are you done yet?"

No matter how sour Stephen Sutton’s expression was, Phoebe King just grinned, "Don’t be so prejudiced against me, I haven’t done anything to you, right?"

"Do you realize this counts as harassment?"

Phoebe King pretended not to understand, reaching out to hand him the box in her hand—an opaque box that clearly displayed its contents. She said, "I made it myself, especially to bring over for you to try."

Stephen Sutton frowned at her, feeling that this girl was silly enough to seem as if something was wrong with her brain.

Why wouldn’t she give up after he treated her so poorly?

"I don’t like eating these; take them back and stop bothering me."

"How would you know you don’t like them if you don’t even try?"

Stephen Sutton straightforwardly said, "I don’t like any of your things, understood? Hurry up and leave!"

Phoebe King pursed her lips and said, "I didn’t mean to offend you that night, and I was just joking, truly nothing more. I’m really a good person!"

"No matter what sort of person you are, I don’t like you; you don’t understand?"

"But I like you, you not liking me doesn’t prevent me from pursuing you, does it?"

Stephen Sutton: "..."

He had never met someone with such thick skin, nor such a daring girl.

In fact, it was his first time being confessed to directly by a girl.

"Can you please just take it? It’s cold outside, and I’m in a hurry to go back and get my beauty sleep!"

Stephen Sutton still didn’t reach out to take it, seemingly organizing words in his mind, trying to figure out what to say to completely dispel Phoebe King’s notion.

However, seeing that he wasn’t budging, Phoebe King directly placed the box of cookies in his hand, then turned towards her motorcycle parked by the roadside. As she donned her gloves, she called back to Stephen Sutton, "Happy New Year, goodnight, I love you!"

Without caring about Stephen Sutton’s unpleasant expression, she donned her helmet and quickly disappeared into the snowy night.

Stephen Sutton let out a breath, looked down at the box in his hand, and then at the oddly shaped cookies inside. He couldn’t quite figure out what he felt.

He turned and walked into the door, giving a quick order to the security guard at the entrance, "Don’t mention what you saw to anyone."

The security guard nodded quickly, "Don’t worry, young master, it’s cold, you should go inside soon."

Carrying the box of cookies, Stephen Sutton felt uneasy all the way back to his room, afraid of bumping into someone who would ask about the items in his hand.

Once inside his room, he locked the door and looked at the box in his hand, feeling somewhat annoyed.

Encountering someone like Phoebe who paid no heed to reason, he was truly at his wits’ end.

Despite being so harsh, she still managed to tell him she liked him.

Even more troubling was the phrase "I love you" she said before leaving; it echoed like a spell in his ears.

He couldn’t settle down to read, so he turned off the light and lay on his bed, unable to calm his mind.

Until he resolved the matter with Phoebe, there was no restful sleep for him.

...

The next day.

Audrey Sutton and Laura Yates both woke up quite early.

Shane Warner descended the stairs and saw the two building snowmen in the yard.

Seeing Audrey Sutton’s hands red from the cold, he went out and advised, "Don’t overdo it, or you’ll catch a cold."

Audrey Sutton just glanced at him and pointed at a lopsided snowman she had already built, mocking Shane Warner, "Doesn’t this one look like you?"

Shane Warner gave her a glare, and seeing she wouldn’t listen, he went straight back inside, picked up her gloves hanging on the entrance rack, and walked to the backyard, tossing them to her.

Audrey Sutton was crouched down, facing away from him, building the snowman’s body when the gloves landed on her head, then fell in front of her.

She glanced down at the gloves, then twisted to stare at the thrower, gazed at Shane Warner with annoyance, knowing he meant well, so she said nothing.

Yet, Audrey Sutton picked up the gloves and gave them directly to Laura Yates, "Second sister-in-law, you wear them."

Laura Yates chuckled, "Your husband brought them for you; I dare not wear them."

"I have another pair." With that, Audrey Sutton turned and instructed Shane Warner, "Go to my room’s wardrobe and get another pair from the drawer."

Shane Warner glared at her resentfully, yet still turned around to head upstairs to grab her gloves.

As he came down the stairs with the gloves, Norman Sutton, sporting a bedhead and yawning, also came down from upstairs, evidently forced awake by his dad.

Seeing Audrey Sutton outside building snowmen, he immediately walked towards her.

After Shane Warner tossed the gloves to her, he stood at the side, watching her play.

Meanwhile, Norman Sutton—secretly up to mischief—quietly rolled a snowball while Audrey Sutton wasn’t paying attention and forcefully threw it at her.

"Ouch!" Audrey Sutton covered her hit head and looked around.

After throwing the snowball, Norman Sutton hid in the nearby bushes, leaving Audrey Sutton’s gaze to fall only on Shane Warner.

Without waiting for Shane Warner to react, Audrey Sutton immediately picked up the snowman’s head and hurled it at Shane Warner.

The snowball hit Shane Warner squarely in the face... no, rather it bloomed into snow on Shane Warner’s face.

Shane Warner: "..."

Audrey Sutton triumphantly pointed at him, "Don’t pretend; it was definitely you!"

Shane Warner suppressed his urge to hit her, keeping a cold face.

Laura Yates, who had observed everything, gestured with her chin towards another direction, hinting to Audrey Sutton that she got the wrong person.

Following Laura Yates’ direction, Audrey Sutton finally spotted Norman Sutton giggling at her from the bushes.

She grabbed another snowman’s head and charged at Norman Sutton, who bolted at the sight.

The two chased each other around the yard, but Audrey Sutton, with short legs and not much of an athlete, couldn’t catch up to Norman Sutton.

Norman Sutton deliberately taunted her, dodging each snowball she threw, frustrating Audrey Sutton terribly.

But Shane Warner, who took it all in, snuck over to one of the snowmen Audrey Sutton had built, picked up its head, and hurled it as Norman Sutton ran past...

Quickly, accurately, and fiercely, it hit Norman Sutton squarely on the forehead.

The hit stunned Norman Sutton, and as he paused to inspect, Audrey Sutton caught up and finally landed a snowball right on his head.

Then she bent over, panting and laughing heartily.

Norman Sutton, refusing to concede, aimed a snowball at Audrey Sutton, ready for revenge. It was sure to hit her when a dark figure suddenly appeared, blocking it in front of Audrey Sutton...
