Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 137: The Second Madam Is Out of Favor
Shane left the psychiatric hospital and went straight to the hospital, where Julian Bishop was lying on the bed receiving an IV drip. In the ward, he didn’t see Faye Xavier, only Lan Irving who was discussing something with the doctor.
"President Warner." Lan Irving greeted him softly.
Shane nodded and walked into the ward, glanced at Julian Bishop, and asked Lan Irving, "Where’s Faye?"
"He went back to the company first."
With a pale face, Julian Bishop apologized to Shane, "Sorry for causing you trouble."
"Your health is what’s important."
"Anna is here, so if you have something to do, just go ahead. Don’t worry about me."
"Alright, then you take a good rest."
"President Warner!" Just as Shane was about to turn around, Lan Irving called out to him, and he stopped and looked back at her. She pursed her lips and said, "I have something to tell you." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
The two of them walked out of the ward, but Lan Irving didn’t speak right away.
She had just heard that Shane was leaving so soon and in haste, she came up with an excuse to keep him a little longer.
Ever since Shane was no longer with Starfield, she rarely saw him.
She had never hoped for anything more; in the past, just seeing him at the company every day was enough, and now even this small wish had vanished.
"Didn’t you have something to say?"
Lan Irving snapped back to reality, looked up at Shane, and said, "...It’s about the new spring products and the official website activities. I wanted to ask if President Warner had any opinions or ideas."
"Just let Faye make the decisions."
"...Alright."
Shane looked at Lan Irving thoughtfully and asked, "Is your wound better?"
Lan Irving froze, a bit astonished: "...It’s mostly healed, thanks for your concern, President Warner."
Shane paused and said, "Today, the psychiatric hospital’s doctor called. They said the attacker’s condition has improved. With some more treatment, perhaps the person behind the scenes will be revealed, which will at least give you an explanation, considering you’re also a victim."
Lan Irving’s smile stiffened, and she said, "Actually, none of this is important. As long as you’re alright, there’s no need to waste too much time on this kind of person. I..."
"Buzz—Buzz—"
Lan Irving stopped mid-sentence, watching as he pulled his phone from his pocket. Although she didn’t see who was calling, she noticed his face light up with laughter and affection and guessed who the caller was.
Once the call connected, his voice was softer than usual: "What’s up?"
On the other end, Audrey Sutton said, "Where are you? I went to the office to find you, and they said you haven’t been in all morning."
Shane asked softly, "What do you need me for?"
Audrey Sutton hesitated and said, "...I don’t have classes this afternoon, and I made some lunch at home for you. But you’re not there."
The smile in Shane’s eyes deepened, and he said, "I’m handling some things at Starfield. With the snow getting heavier, don’t run around. Just wait for me in the office; I’ll be back soon."
Audrey Sutton paused thoughtfully before saying, "Then I’ll take a nap. You handle your business, don’t worry about me."
"There’s a bed in the inner room; go take a nap inside."
Lan Irving watched as Shane hung up the phone, feeling a twinge of jealousy. She had been by Shane’s side for so many years, yet he had never been so attentive to her.
Or perhaps she just hadn’t known him to be so gentle and meticulous before Audrey Sutton appeared.
Though unwilling to admit it, it now seemed that Audrey was indeed someone special to him, and not just a connection for familial alliances. He possibly... truly liked Audrey.
"I’ll leave the hospital in your care; I’m heading back to the company now."
Lan Irving collected her thoughts, nodded, and watched Shane’s departing figure, unable to resist saying one more thing: "...Remember to have lunch."
Shane paused, looked back at her, gave a slight nod, and walked straight into the hospital elevator.
Once Shane had left, Lan Irving immediately took out her phone to call Ivan Yardley: "That person can’t stay any longer. Shane just said the hospital’s treatment had improved their condition, and it’s only a matter of time before they give us up."
Ivan Yardley laughed fearlessly and said, "Anna, don’t worry. I’ll make sure they won’t be able to speak, and even if they confess completely, it’ll only lead back to me. I won’t drag you into this."
Lan Irving tightened her grip on her phone, clenched her teeth, and said faintly, "...Be careful yourself."
...
Knowing Audrey Sutton was waiting for him at the office, Shane didn’t waste time on lunch, heading to Starfield to sign several necessary contracts. After briefly discussing the afternoon’s work with Faye Xavier and Morgan Quinn, Shane drove back to the Warner Group.
Despite hurrying, it was nearly three o’clock by the time he reached the office.
Seeing the bag with a lunchbox on the coffee table, Shane’s furrowed brow instantly relaxed.
He quietly walked to the door of the inner room’s resting area, opened the door, and saw her sleeping soundly wrapped in a quilt. After watching her for a few seconds, he gently closed the door.
He went to the microwave to heat the food. As soon as Shane left, three girls in the pantry started chatting: "Why is the Third Young Master eating so late?"
Girl B: "And eating something so simple."
Girl C: "What do you guys know? That’s a love lunchbox from the lady for the Third Young Master."
Girl A: "I’ve always been curious. Why is it that, although both the Second and Third Young Masters had arranged marriages, the Third Young Master and his wife have such a good relationship? She’s frequently seen coming to the company to find him, but the Second Young Master’s wife never does."
Girl C: "I heard from Ms. Linton that before the Second Young Master got married, he had a girlfriend who visited the company a few times. But it was an unacknowledged relationship, and it’s speculated that she might still be a secret mistress, which is why the Second Mistress isn’t favored."
Girl B: "Yeah, I heard that too. Supposedly, that girl is a classmate of Nana’s, and it was known all over the school that she was involved in such a scandalous relationship."
"Who are you talking about?"
A sudden voice interrupted, making the three girls turn around in unison. They immediately smiled sheepishly and greeted, "Madam Third, are you going to have some coffee? I could prepare it for you."
Audrey Sutton smiled and shook her head, "I can do it myself."
The three girls quickly returned to their work, leaving Audrey Sutton alone in the pantry.
She wanted to hear more gossip.
This was the first time Audrey Sutton had heard about Vincent Warner’s rich romantic history, and she finally understood why Chloe Swift was always so pessimistic about marriage. Clearly, she knew Vincent had a mistress before they got married.
Though she hadn’t expected Vincent to be the type to keep a woman on the side.
