Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 132: Don’t Go
When the car stopped outside the bar, it was already past eleven at night.
The wind wasn’t strong, yet it felt piercingly cold.
Shane locked the car door and walked straight into the bar.
It seemed Scott had informed them in advance, as the staff at the entrance promptly led Shane to Scott.
Scott was sitting on the sofa playing with his phone, while Audrey Sutton was beside him, leaning over the table.
"You’ve arrived, huh?"
Shane responded with a soft "Mm," looked at the wine pot and glasses on the table, and asked casually, "How much has she drunk?"
Scott joked, "Knowing she doesn’t have to pay for the drinks here, she naturally drank to her heart’s content."
Shane paused for a moment and then asked, "Did she drink alone?"
"With some of her roommates." Scott stood up and stretched lazily, leaning against one side of the sofa, and asked Shane, "Did you have a fight?"
Shane looked down at Audrey Sutton and responded softly, "No."
Scott chuckled knowingly without saying anything, "She’s just a kid with a temper; it comes and goes quickly. Sometimes, a piece of candy can cheer her up as long as you don’t leave her hanging."
After saying that, a regular customer came over, and Scott walked towards the second floor while chatting with them.
Shane took a deep breath; it was obvious that she hadn’t come to the bar to have fun today.
Because the last time she went to the bar, she wore a slip dress and bold lipstick, but today she was dressed casually in a sweater, jeans, sneakers, with no makeup and her hair tied in a simple high ponytail.
He didn’t know if her drinking had anything to do with him.
Seeing her like this, he felt quite uncomfortable inside.
Originally a carefree princess adored by her family, now she’s here to drown her sorrows in alcohol.
Shane reached for the white down jacket on the sofa, draped it over her, and tried to lift her arm, realizing she lacked the strength, so he bent down to pick her up.
She mumbled something in her sleep, then seemed to sense the warmth, and her rosy cheeks rubbed against his chest, softening Shane’s heart.
Audrey Sutton curled up on the rear seat, and Shane slowed down the car to keep it steady, afraid she might fall off the seat.
In the silent car, she suddenly let out a whimper, resembling a cry, but it only sounded once and then quieted down.
The car drove for half an hour before reaching home. As soon as she got out, she vomited. At first, Shane held her arms to support her, but the grip seemed particularly uncomfortable for her, and she broke free from him, unable to even squat steadily, crawling on her knees by the roadside, vomiting until she dry heaved, which was distressing to watch.
Shane gently patted her back and, once she was done, turned back to the car to get some tissues.
When Shane returned with tissues, he saw her head dipping forward, almost falling into the vomit.
Shane rushed over instinctively and caught her, grabbing hold of her ponytail in a desperate attempt...
Although he managed to prevent something unpleasant, pulling her hair hurt her scalp, and seeing her frown and groan while holding her head, Shane sighed helplessly and picked her up again. She stared at Shane with dazed eyes, looking as if she didn’t recognize him.
Shane was just grateful she was incoherent at the moment; otherwise, who knows how long she’d resent him for pulling her hair.
Carrying her up the stairs, she kept her eyes on him all the way. Halfway up, he heard her drunken voice murmur, "Do you... do you want a divorce?" 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Shane paused his steps, looking down at her in his arms. She mumbled to herself, "Divorce, then divorce... Divorce, then divorce! Who cares!"
After finishing, she pursed her lips and cried, sobbing and repeating, "... Who cares."
Shane paused for a moment, continued upstairs, gently kicked open her bedroom door, placed her on the sofa against the wall, and bent down to help take off her shoes.
Feeling her cold hands and feet, he wanted her to take a hot shower, but she was clearly in no condition to do it herself, and he didn’t want to take advantage of the situation.
She lay still on the sofa for barely a few seconds before Audrey Sutton tried to prop herself up, but Shane held her down, soothing her softly, "Sleep now."
She glanced at him, struggled a bit but couldn’t break free, then frowned and grumbled, "I want to pee."
Shane: "..."
Helping her up, Shane supported her as she walked, essentially holding her up with all his strength despite her feet being on the ground.
Once at the toilet, Shane hadn’t even released his hold before she started undoing the button on her jeans, the zip slid down, and she half-pulled down her pants, sitting heavily on the toilet seat.
Shane glanced away quickly, letting her hold onto the sink as he turned to walk out, gently closing the bathroom door and waiting outside.
"Bang—"
Upon hearing a loud noise, Shane immediately pushed the door open, and the first thing he saw was Audrey Sutton standing, presumably just finishing up in the bathroom, her pants still down. Thankfully, her sweater was long enough to cover what shouldn’t be seen.
His gaze fell on the shattered glass bottle by her foot, with transparent shower gel slowly oozing out onto the floor.
She seemed bewildered by the sound, standing there frozen without pulling her pants up.
With a slight frown, Shane took a nearby towel and wrapped it around her waist, then crouched down to pick up the glass shards from the floor, worried they might cut her.
Audrey Sutton seemed to have regained her composure, watching him without moving.
Shane turned to throw the shards into the trash bin, barely taking a step before two small hands wrapped around his waist from behind.
As Audrey Sutton rushed to hug him, her own pants entangled her legs. If Shane had been a bit further away, she would’ve ended up face down on the floor.
Shane stabilized himself and turned his head to look at her, unsure of her level of consciousness, he probed, "What’s up?"
She kicked off her tripping pants, simply clinging tightly to his back, holding him without saying a word.
Shane looked down at the white panties tangled with her jeans on the floor, imagining the situation under her towel, and his Adam’s apple involuntarily rolled.
Walking one step towards the trash bin, she seemed glued to him, following his every move.
With only socks on her feet, Shane feared any lingering glass shards on the floor might harm her. He dared not move further, stretched his hand to throw the glass fragments into the trash bin, and looked down at her small hands tightly wrapped around his waist, couldn’t help but ask, "Do you know who I am?"
She seemed to ignore his question, merely pressing against his back, murmuring stubbornly with a hint of pleading, "Don’t leave."
