Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 309: Don’t Turn Away and Leave
She put down the fruit she had just raised, wanting to draw the curtains, when suddenly she felt a strong force wrap around her waist, enveloped by a familiar scent.
Ethan Sterling.
Seraphina Redgrave was startled, and before she could speak, he lifted her directly onto the kitchen counter, with the cake they had just made behind her.
What was he up to?
Seraphina felt bewildered, her eyes not yet adjusted to the darkness, when she suddenly heard a scratch and the spark of a fire ignited before her.
On the lighter, encrusted with blue diamonds, a spark flickered, the blue flame making the sapphire shimmer and illuminating the man’s face, softening his facial features.
Ethan stood between her legs, bending slightly, his face made more enticing by the blue firelight, his long and dense eyelashes shading amber eyes that stared deeply at her, sparkling with a captivating light, like a whirlpool...
The flame accidentally touched his fingertips, and he flinched, extinguishing the flame.
"Sizzle."
The sound was the same as before.
Ethan once again rubbed the lighter’s wheel, and the blue flame danced back to life, swaying beautifully.
In such an environment, the blue flame seemed ambiguously romantic.
Seraphina sat on the kitchen counter staring at him, "What are you trying to do?"
She vaguely knew the answer.
"Trying to coax you."
Ethan’s deep and magnetic voice slipped into her ears.
Just as she expected.
But to use a lighter to cheer a woman, Ethan was surely the first one.
Seraphina watched the flame, about to touch Ethan’s fingertips again, when he suddenly said, "I’ll show you something else."
He reignited the lighter, the blue flame sprang forth, and with his fingers deftly playing with the lighter, the blue flame leapt continuously between his fingers.
This lone point of light slid across the man’s face, accentuating his features profoundly and attractively.
"..."
Seraphina watched his focused expression, her breath catching.
Suddenly, Ethan stopped, looked up at Seraphina, fixing her with a gaze filled with emotions.
The flame neared his fingertips again, prompting Seraphina to snatch the lighter from his hand, "Look at you, careless."
Before her words could fall, Ethan suddenly bent down, burying his face in her shoulder and took a deep breath, "Little one, let’s not be angry anymore, okay?"
His voice sounded urgently aggrieved.
With a hint of... humbleness.
Seraphina sat there, about to speak, when his hands tightened at her waist, engulfing her completely in his presence, losing her sense of self.
"I’m truly not angry." Seraphina explained, "I just think, everything I’ve done is willingly, without regret, so you don’t need to compensate like this."
"Really?"
Ethan held her tightly, disbelief lacing his tone.
"Yes."
"Then kiss me." Ethan promptly said.
"..."
He’s the typical person whose tail goes up with just a bit of praise.
Seraphina raised her hands, placed them on his shoulders, turning her head to leave a gentle kiss on his left cheek, "Does this suffice?"
"No."
He kept his face buried in her shoulder, warm breaths caressing her neck, causing her to shiver.
His amber eyes spoke of desire, Seraphina knew exactly what he wanted, promptly denying, "Your injuries haven’t healed yet."
Can’t act rashly.
"It doesn’t matter how injured I am, if not for worrying your wounds haven’t healed, I wouldn’t have waited this long." Ethan laughed lightly.
"..."
Seraphina tugged at his ear, "Can your mind not be filled with these thoughts all day?"
Can’t there be more than just one color?
"No, as soon as I see you, I can’t stop thinking." Ethan licked Seraphina’s neck, making her face flush.
"So you’re blaming me?"
Really adept at deflecting.
"Yes, blaming you."
Ethan lifted his face from her shoulder, even in darkness, she could feel his piercing gaze.
He raised a hand to stroke her face, inching closer, his lips hovering with a tantalizing warmth near hers, greedily taking the air from around her.
"I forget where I read it, someone said you’re driven by desire."
She refused to wear that label.
"Only in front of you."
"..."
Seraphina couldn’t engage any longer, simply closing her mouth.
Ethan’s hands propped beside her, thin lips wandering on her delicate skin, alternately touching and leaving her skin, causing inexplicable anxiety.
He seemed to trace the lines of her face in this manner, leaving Seraphina feeling parched.
"If you’re angry in the future, don’t just turn away." Ethan’s familiar scent wrapped tightly around Seraphina, his voice hoarse and low, "Don’t leave, let me make you happy."
"..."
"I don’t want to see your back, do you understand?"
Ethan closed his eyes, his lips resting at the corner of hers.
After she said those words and walked away today, he stood there, feeling as though the carousel before him was a joke, heart sour and uncomfortable.
"Then let’s live simply in the future, not bother building these things, okay?" Seraphina persuaded, because she genuinely wasn’t interested.
Upon hearing her words, Ethan opened his eyes, filled with refusal, "I don’t want you accompanied solely by loneliness and boredom when you’re alone."
"Can we turn on the lights?" she asked.
As soon as the words dropped, the kitchen lights turned on, returning to brightness. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Seraphina turned around, looking at the round cake behind her, though not yet adorned with fruit, still very pleasing.
She said, "Actually, I won’t be bored, earlier I helped Nanny Lynch make a cake, want a taste?"
Seraphina scooped a small piece with a spoon, offering it to his lips.
"Too sweet." Ethan’s eyes reflected disdain.
Why avoid sweets? Does he prefer bitter?
Seraphina pondered, yet didn’t force him to eat, instead she enjoyed that spoonful herself, the fragrant sweet cream transforming into sweet elements, swiftly spreading through her, leaving a delightful feeling.
The next moment, Ethan fiercely kissed Seraphina’s lips, stealing away the remaining cream from her mouth.
"..."
Wasn’t he disdainful of sweets?
Seraphina felt speechless, Ethan seemed to sense her thoughts, deliberately curling his lips to lick their edges mischievously, smiling wickedly, "I like this kind of sweetness."
