Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 274: The Most Brutal Method
Miles Harrington was taken aback by the unexpected answer and quickly said, "You’re a young woman, living honestly as an ordinary person under Ethan Sterling’s protection wouldn’t be so bad, right? I used to admire you so much, how did you... never mind, forget it. Are you really planning not to say anything?"
Seraphina Redgrave rubbed her fingers, fully aware that a new tactic was coming.
The cell door opened, and a man in uniform walked in carrying a white tray. On it were a glass of pure water and a pill in a small transparent box.
Miles Harrington pointed at the pill and asked Seraphina, "Do you know what this is?"
Without waiting for Seraphina’s response, he picked up the small box and held it in front of her. "The Directorate has countless methods, besides the ones you’ve seen, there are others even more brutal, like this YJ520. Have you heard about it? R Nation developed it especially to pry open the mouths of prisoners like you. Once you take it, you’ll wish you were dead; if you take it too much, you’ll experience all kinds of pain, wishing you were dead."
YJ520?
Seraphina looked at the pill in Miles Harrington’s hand, the white particles seemed much more ordinary compared to the pills she had taken in the Redgrave Family. "Not bad, the name is quite romantic."
Miles Harrington hadn’t expected any fear from her, and frowned, saying: "You better think carefully. In the Directorate, no matter who you are, no one can withstand this pill."
"To be honest, I quite admire you. I feel somewhat reluctant to use this pill on you."
"..."
But so what if he’s reluctant? To achieve his goal, he would still proceed with this.
Seraphina’s silence symbolized her stance.
"Why must you act this way? Normally, you just need to rely on Ethan Sterling’s affection for you. Get anything you want. Don’t you find it too unfortunate to choose this path?" Miles Harrington was puzzled.
He really didn’t understand. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"Have you ever been to Veridian Isle?" Seraphina finally spoke.
"?"
What kind of question was that? He clearly hadn’t been to such a place.
Supporting herself on her arms, Seraphina stood up shakily, rebelliously, "On Veridian Isle, there’s a giant tree; with a thick trunk and lush foliage, the most magical thing is it blooms and bears fruit all year round, braving the elements, and there were those who wanted to cut it down, yet couldn’t harm it in the slightest."
This tree sustained her will to live, it was her life pursuit.
"Does such a tree really exist?"
Miles Harrington doubted it.
A tree, blooming and bearing fruit all year round, untouched by humans.
"If you get the chance, go see it for yourself and find out if it truly exists." Seraphina seemed to be inviting him.
Miles Harrington didn’t say more, as he knew it was pointless now. He handed the water and pill to Seraphina, feeling somewhat conflicted inside.
Without any hesitation, Seraphina placed the pill into her mouth.
Then she raised the water glass, drinking it all without missing a drop.
After speaking for so long, her mouth became dry. This felt rather refreshing.
"Someone, tie her up, lest it’s uncontrollable later." Miles Harrington ordered.
In extreme pain, one might attempt suicide to end the suffering.
Iron chains extended from four corners, slowly tightening, pulling Seraphina forcibly into a star shape. Fortunately, the force wasn’t too severe, so Seraphina didn’t feel extreme pain.
Someone even pulled out a gun aimed at her, preventing any foolish moves.
Seraphina was restrained at the cell’s center, unable to escape, stripped of dignity, stripped of security.
Her face was as pale as paper; her left shoulder’s bullet hole still bleeding, the claw marks still faintly painful.
The whole scene was miserable.
But Seraphina’s expression was still not fearful, remaining calm, even showing faint sarcasm.
One of the underlings delivered a chair to Miles Harrington. He sat with legs crossed, waiting for Seraphina’s reaction.
From Miles Harrington’s actions, it was clear he wasn’t gleefully awaiting Seraphina’s suffering; it was simply something he had to do.
...
Upon entering The Directorate, in less than a day, Seraphina was subjected to their most brutal method, YJ520.
Seraphina stood impotently, most of her weight supported by the chains, giving her some relief.
She was exhausted, truly exhausted. She closed her eyes, not thinking about anything else for the moment.
Suddenly, the pain came without warning.
The pain started from the top of her head and worked its way down.
Like someone was hammering her bones little by little.
Then it felt like something heavy was grinding over her internal organs repeatedly.
The pain slowly swept through her body, leaving no room for escape.
With her limbs fixed by chains, Seraphina couldn’t curl up to alleviate the pain, she could only tightly clench her fists fighting the pain.
Sweat dripped from her forehead, only a short while before Seraphina was in tears, sweat blurring her eyes.
Miles Harrington saw her enduring the pain and realized the YJ520 had taken effect, so he began to speak, "Seraphina, in some way, I can understand you, being on Veridian Isle for years without reason, enduring countless grievances, so you want change, you want to change the whole isle, but it’s impossible."
"..."
Seraphina’s vision turned white, unable to see anything, while buzzing in her ears. It was unbearable.
"The Z Nation’s tycoon struggle has persisted for hundreds of years. During those years, some laughed while others wept; waves of tycoons came and went. Finally, to ensure their wealth wasn’t threatened, the tycoons resorted to this way of mutual restraint, sending failures to Veridian Isle."
Miles Harrington seemed oblivious to the immense pain Seraphina was enduring, continuing, "No one hopes their enemies live well, and neither do they just let them die easily. Thus, survival of the fittest became why Veridian Isle exists."
Seraphina’s palms bled, beads of blood emerged because she clenched too tightly, her short nails digging deeper into her flesh, blood flowed freely.
"You’re indeed right; the island’s people are said to have misdeeds, moral corruption, returning to the mainland to wreak havoc, these rumors are indeed fabricated by the tycoons."
"Their goal is to make the world loathe Veridian Isle, harbor hatred for its people. Only this way will everyone stop focusing on the place to avoid unnecessary trouble." Miles Harrington stated calmly.
