Mr. Hawthorne, Your Wife Wants a Divorce Again-Chapter 1075: Oversensitive
Ann Vaughn got lost in her thoughts for a moment, and Eli Sheridan and Wilder Sheridan had already devised a plan. Lucy Lock could not be let off, and Micah Hawthorne must pay for all that he has done.
But it’s been so long, I’m afraid the evidence won’t be so easy to find.
"Annie?" Seeing Ann Vaughn’s increasingly pale complexion, Eli Sheridan pushed a cup of hot tea toward her and asked worriedly, "Why do you look so unwell? Are you feeling sick again?"
Ann Vaughn snapped back to reality, seeing Eli Sheridan and Wilder Sheridan both looking at her with concern, she quickly suppressed her inner thoughts.
"It’s nothing, I was just thinking about Lucy Lock’s cautious nature, why would she keep a diary like this by her side? If it accidentally falls into someone else’s hands, wouldn’t she be finished?"
"You do have a point. Before the Lockwood Family’s fire, I ordered a search of their entire household, and we didn’t find the diary then, let alone any other clues." Eli Sheridan looked at the leather-bound book and pondered, "This suggests that the diary is indeed special in some way."
Otherwise, after so long, Lucy Lock wouldn’t still have it with her.
After leaving the study, Ann Vaughn turned to ask Wilder Sheridan beside her, "What do you think my brother will do?"
"I’m not sure about the long-term plan. As for the immediate action... my brother can easily handle the Halloway Family." Wilder Sheridan crossed his arms and thought, "But to ensure that Lucy Lock and Micah Hawthorne are jailed for life, there’s still a need for more decisive evidence."
"Can’t the diary serve as evidence?"
"It can, but at most they can be charged with illegal detention, which is too lenient for them. Don’t worry, with me and big brother, everything will be handled properly!"
Provided Stanley Sheridan doesn’t interfere and make trouble...
Ann Vaughn couldn’t help but pat the young rascal’s head, suddenly recalling something, she pulled out ten vials of potion from the case.
"These are two types of remedies: Body Refining and Solidifying—the former cleanses impurities in the body to enhance physical strength, while the latter fortifies the body..." Ann Vaughn explained the usage in detail to Wilder Sheridan, then said, "Make sure you and big brother take them as prescribed."
Eli Sheridan’s long-standing high-intensity work, late nights, drinking at social functions, often leads to minor illnesses; he only dares to squander his health because of youth, but with time, his body will surely collapse. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
And Wilder Sheridan is even worse, his schedule is upside down, irregular diet, and during tight filming schedules, he sometimes doesn’t sleep for days, causing his stomach problems to frequently recur.
Not to mention, he was previously soaked in medicinal baths for so long, hurting his core, not any better than Eli Sheridan.
They hadn’t mentioned anything, but Ann Vaughn saw it in their complexion, realizing their health issues were quite serious.
These potions were made with water infused by moonstone, their efficacy thousands of times better than ordinary water.
The process was rather complex, and Ann Vaughn only had fifteen vials, saving the rest for Cyrus Hawthorne.
"Sis, you’re the best, big brother and I will definitely take it reliably." Wilder Sheridan hugged Ann Vaughn’s arm affectionately.
...
Just as Wilder Sheridan predicted, Eli Sheridan indeed took action against the Halloway Family, so decisively that the Halloway Family was caught off guard.
By the next afternoon, news broke that Halloway Family’s company was under investigation, and Micah Hawthorne was suspended for inquiry.
It was unclear how Eli Sheridan managed to accomplish this, but within a day Micah Hawthorne confessed everything from the past twenty years, including his dealings with Lucy Lock.
It was said that during the confrontation between the two, a fight broke out, leading to scratches on Micah Hawthorne’s face, and in anger, he kicked her into a wall, leaving her unconscious, now hospitalized.
Upon hearing this, Ann Vaughn was on her way to the recognition ceremony, and thought—perhaps when Lucy Lock and Micah Hawthorne collaborated in the past, they never imagined the other would bite back, determined to take someone down with them?
While pondering, Ann Vaughn’s phone rang again.
She glanced at it and hung up.
"Sis, why didn’t you answer?" Wilder Sheridan inadvertently saw the number, blinking—they know today is the recognition ceremony and now can’t sit still?
"It’s a scam call, not worth answering." Ann Vaughn replied.
Anyone who starts with "I’m your dad" is either scamming or selling something, Ann Vaughn didn’t have the time for chit-chat, simply hanging up to save trouble.
Wilder Sheridan stifled a laugh; if the other side knew Ann Vaughn viewed him as a scammer, he probably wouldn’t wait for the recognition ceremony, but would want to jump off a balcony with his fragile heart.
In consideration of Stanley Sheridan not blindly siding with Lucy Lock this time, Wilder Sheridan decided to share the truth with Ann Vaughn.
Ann Vaughn fell silent for two seconds.
"Forget it, I’m afraid if I pick up the call, I’ll end up yelling at him."
Wilder Sheridan laughed more heartily, feeling a bit pleased inside.
His sister was sticking up for him, after all.
Skipping Elliot Sheridan and staying delighted, the young rascal was cheerful all the way to the hotel.
Regardless of how many complaints the fragile-hearted old Stanley Sheridan had, he still came to the recognition ceremony.
Though the Lynch Family didn’t invite too many guests, close family friends and colleagues came, and counting them, the numbers were quite considerable, and they included many influential figures not typically seen.
Thankfully, Ann Vaughn was accustomed to such occasions, so she wasn’t nervous at all.
Chief Lynch and Mrs. Linden accompanied her to greet each person in turn, and she appropriately extended her greetings with grace, earning widespread praise.
The Lynch Family placed great importance on the recognition ceremony, even checking the calendar to choose an auspicious time for the tea ceremony and gift presentations, meaning they wouldn’t start right away.
Meanwhile, not far behind Ann Vaughn in the lounge area.
"Cousin, if you’re upset, lean on me for a rest if you’re really uncomfortable, no need to force a smile."
Suddenly hearing this, Reese Lynch looked back from typing on her phone, seeing Cousin Sylvie Lynch watching her sympathetically, her anger instantly transforming into confusion.
"What are you talking about?"
Sylvie Lynch displayed a knowing look, "Don’t be strong, I know everything. Uncle and Aunt suddenly recognized some random girl as their goddaughter and made all the relatives return from overseas for the recognition ceremony, it’s very unusual, and the girl is much younger than you..."
Reese Lynch’s expression turned odd, "What are you trying to say?"
"Cousin, don’t get me wrong, I just feel it’s unfair to you, Uncle and Aunt have a daughter, why recognize an outsider as a goddaughter? Isn’t it purposefully causing you trouble and letting others see a joke?"
