Mr. Fairchild's Rose: She is Wild and Proud-Chapter 309 - 212: 212_3
Keane leaned against her, his eyelashes fluttering.
A breeze carrying mixed scents blew by, and Maeve Lane pinched Keane’s chubby arm.
"... Stay with sister for now, okay?"
Keane was stunned for a moment, then smiled like a little angel, "Mm-hmm (^~^)"
...
They arrived in Ardoria.
Keane held onto Maeve Lane’s sleeve, walking obediently, while Julian Fairchild was a step ahead.
His tall figure cast a shadow in the hallway.
"Sister, when can I become a star?" the child’s innocent voice broke the silence.
"You really want to be a star?" Maeve Lane looked at him and said, "At your age, you should be studying hard."
Saying that, she thought of Keane’s "dad."
How could he be so irresponsible?
Keane furrowed his little brow, like a little adult, "Being a star lets more people see me."
If mom saw him, she would definitely recognize him, right?
Even though Keane knew his biological parents either already left or gave him away.
He said he didn’t want to see them, but his heart still longed for a home.
A home without bottles, with the clean scent of grass and flowers, a home with his real family.
"Besides that person, does Keane have other relatives?"
Keane hesitated for a moment and said, "There’s also a grandma."
"Grandma? What about your mother?" Maeve Lane was full of curiosity about Keane’s past.
"She doesn’t let me call her grandma, but I know she is." Keane recalled, "She’s never appeared, but she used to call me, though she hasn’t in recent years."
His starry eyes dimmed a bit.
"Years? You’re only five now."
"Mm."
"She thinks I’m too young to remember, but I remember very clearly." Keane stuck out his tongue, "But it’s okay, sister, I used to think maybe grandma would bring mom to visit one day.
But to this day, they haven’t. So I stopped waiting. Keane can live well alone o(´^`)o~"
Maeve Lane patted his forehead, sighed, "Good boy."
They arrived at the apartment.
Julian Fairchild didn’t make a move to open the door, just stood quietly at Maeve Lane’s door.
Miles Hughes brought in the clothes and living supplies Maeve Lane bought for Keane in the afternoon and organized them.
Keane had originally followed Maeve Lane inside.
But then he turned back out.
Julian Fairchild looked at him coldly, with a fierceness reminiscent of how he used to look at Henry Hughes.
Jace Keane wasn’t afraid of him and beckoned with his finger, "Uncle, squat down."
Julian Fairchild didn’t want to bother with him, turned around, and walked away.
Jace Keane used the same old trick, suddenly hugging the man’s leg, producing a lollipop from who knows where, "Uncle, have some candy |ᴥ•́)✧~"
The "leave" that Julian Fairchild was about to say was forcibly swallowed back down.
"No need."
"Eat it! This is the candy sister bought me, it’s the last one." Keane sweetly replied.
Julian Fairchild paused, gritting his teeth as he looked at him, "Are you showing off?"
Since he and Maeve Lane had known each other, she hadn’t bought him much.
But today, she bought this little brat a whole cart.
He felt like his heart was soaked in a bottle of thousand-year-old vinegar, still bubbling with sourness.
"No, no, uncle, don’t be mad at sister. In a while, Keane will move out, but right now Keane has no money. When I have money, I’ll repay you both properly." Keane crawled onto Julian Fairchild’s shoulder, leaving several shoe prints on his suit pants.
Julian Fairchild’s face darkened further, "Get down!"
"Julian Fairchild, don’t be so fierce." Maeve Lane came out of the room, picked the dangling Keane off the man, and laughed, "Keane, I prepared a room for you. Stay with me until your relatives contact you."
Keane sweetly let himself be carried off by Maeve, suddenly feeling empty-handed.
He watched in a daze as the man tore open the lollipop wrapper and bit into it.
Maeve Lane followed Keane’s gaze and sighed helplessly, "Why are you competing with a child over candy?"
Julian Fairchild slipped one hand into his pocket and twirled the candy with the other, frowning, "It’s too sweet."
"Miles Hughes, take him to my apartment."
"Yes."
"Stay with him tonight."
As soon as the words were spoken, Keane was snatched from Maeve Lane’s arms by the man.
Miles Hughes instinctively reached out to catch him: "?"
Keane: "..."
The door closed with a thud, leaving the big and small staring wide-eyed at each other.
