Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 844 - 840: I Won’t Give Up!
Felix Shaw spoke with emotion, but Mia Foster was calm and steady. Looking into his eyes, she said softly, "Felix, what you’re talking about isn’t love. At most, it’s a form of dependency. You were at your most helpless, and I happened to be by your side, so you became dependent on me."
"No, no, Mia, listen to me..."
Felix Shaw shook his head incessantly, but Mia interrupted him again, "Felix, calm down and think carefully. Back then, if that incident hadn’t happened, would you have proposed to me?"
Meeting Felix Shaw’s somewhat evasive gaze, Mia continued, "If I’m not mistaken, choosing to date me must have been out of necessity, because you were involved with Elizabeth White at the time and never really ended it."
Mia’s expression was indifferent, but mentioning Elizabeth White still caused a pang of resentment. The biggest source of this came from Felix Shaw himself. When Elizabeth’s miscarriage happened for unclear reasons, he blamed her without asking any questions... Even after all this time, he has never offered a word of comfort or explanation.
"It’s not like that, Mia, I didn’t,"
Felix Shaw frowned and shook his head, "Since our engagement, I’ve really had little contact with her."
Mia lowered her eyes, holding the straps of her bag tightly, with a self-mocking smile on her lips, "Stop deceiving yourself. I’ve seen her calls to you."
"Mia..." Felix Shaw’s hanging hand clenched involuntarily. He wanted to say something more, but his lips moved without making a sound.
Behind them, company employees were arriving for work, glancing curiously as they hurried past. Mia looked up, maintaining a slight smile, gazing at the lost man in front of her, and said calmly, "Go back, don’t waste your time."
After speaking, she walked past Felix Shaw towards the office building.
Mia held her head slightly high, a suffocating feeling in her chest. Some things, once hurt, remain hurt. Even if the wound heals, there will still be a faint scar in memory.
Standing still, Felix Shaw’s heart sank bit by bit as Mia left. Suddenly, he turned his head, watching Mia’s retreating figure in the distance, and shouted, "Mia Foster, I won’t give up!"
Mia didn’t stop, but her heart clearly trembled at Felix Shaw’s shout.
Felix Shaw didn’t linger in front of the company. In the afternoon, just before the end of the workday, he arrived, driving a car, and waited in the company’s underground parking lot, watching the entrance like a professional private detective, wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses.
Half an hour later, people gradually began leaving, driving out one by one. Watching as Mia Foster also came over, Felix tightened his gaze beneath the lenses of his sunglasses.
Mia walked to her car, opened the door, sat in the driver’s seat, started the car, and drove out of the parking space towards the exit. Not far behind, Felix Shaw also started his engine, keeping a steady distance as he followed Mia.
After passing through several streets, driving for about half an hour, Mia’s car stopped in front of a standalone small villa. She got out of the car, searching for her keys in her bag while walking towards the house.
Felix Shaw’s car stopped dozens of meters away from the villa. Watching Mia unlock the front door and enter, he removed his sunglasses and scrutinized the entire small villa.
It’s a three-story house, with balconies on the second and third floors where flowers are grown. If someone with ill intentions wanted to enter, it probably wouldn’t be difficult. Thinking of this possibility, Felix Shaw’s brows furrowed more.
