Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 824 - 820: I Really Should Have Killed You (The Bad Woman Is About to Show Her True Colors)
"Sit down," Melody Zachary was just getting up when Oliver Shaw snapped her back, inserting the steel spoon into the ice cream and saying unhappily, "You’re so grown up and still can’t take care of yourself? When I was his age, I was already a father."
Oliver Shaw spoke naturally, but Melody Zachary lowered her eyes. She married Oliver right after graduating from university, and the year after their marriage, they had Felix... Everything was as vivid as yesterday, yet seemed as distant as a lifetime ago.
Seeing Melody’s low mood, Oliver Shaw didn’t continue the topic, instead asking the waiter, "Is the cake ready yet?"
"Yes, sir, please wait a moment, I will go check immediately."
"Oliver, there’s no need, Mia Foster bought some tonight," Melody Zachary interrupted again, but Oliver just glanced over indifferently and didn’t respond.
Soon, the waiter came with a tray, placing a miniature cake on the table, just ten centimeters in size, very delicate.
"Go ahead, I didn’t ask the chef to make it too big, you should be able to finish it." Oliver Shaw said, seeing that Melody was just looking at it, and further explained, "I also didn’t ask for candles to make a wish, those are all a sham, not a single wish comes true."
"Thank you," Melody pulled the cake over, picking up a fork to take a bite. The cream clearly tasted sweet, yet she found it bitter, like Oliver Shaw’s outdated tenderness, which used to be so inevitable, but with time passing, she is no longer accustomed to it.
Seeing Melody eat slowly, Oliver Shaw also picked up a fork, "I’ll taste it too, what’s so great about it, you women all seem to love it."
He said, forked a piece into his mouth, frowned and complained it’s too sweet. Despite saying this, he still accompanied Melody to finish the small cake, then got up, "Let’s go, I’ll take you back."
In front of the apartment, Melody watched Oliver Shaw’s car drive away before turning to enter the building. As the door closed, she wiped the corner of her eye and headed towards the elevator.
...
In the apartment, Felix Shaw was still tightly gripping Mia Foster not willing to let go, no matter whether Mia Foster expressed anger or softened her tone to plead, he remained indifferent.
Mia Foster was at a loss and had a headache, drunken men throwing tantrums are really clingy. He alternately bit and kissed her neck, then, through gritted teeth, cursed, "Mia Foster, damn it, I should really kill you!"
A drunken man, with unconscious reason, could do anything. The apartment only had the two of them; if Felix Shaw truly intended to harm her, she really wouldn’t have the strength to resist.
...
At the villa, as Oliver Shaw just stepped into the house, Seraphina happily ran over, "Daddy, you’re back!"
"Yes, has Seraphina finished her homework?" Oliver Shaw picked up his daughter, walking briskly towards the sofa.
"Finished," Seraphina answered crisply, "Seraphina is really good," Oliver Shaw sat on the sofa holding his daughter, not seeing Vanessa Armstrong’s figure, he asked, "Where’s mom?"
"Mom ate something bad and is throwing up in the bathroom."
"Ate something bad? Seraphina, sit tight here, Daddy is going to check on mom." Oliver Shaw frowned in confusion, placing his daughter on the sofa and heading towards the bathroom. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Vanessa Armstrong was kneeling in front of the toilet, having vomited up all the food she ate in the evening and was still dry heaving, her ponytail high and now disheveled over her shoulders.
"How did it get so bad? What did you eat tonight?" Oliver Shaw came over and crouched down, gently patting Vanessa’s back.
