Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 811 - 807: Of Course You Can Make Cynical Remarks When It’s Not Your Wife
In an instant of hesitation, Felix Shaw shook his head, "No, Elizabeth is very innocent, she doesn’t have that kind of mind." After speaking, he buried his head and took a sip of beer, feeling somewhat guilty as he said it.
"Ha! I think you’re the only one who’s innocent," Evander Lancaster glanced over, then turned back and took a sip of beer, saying leisurely, "In the entertainment industry, how many people don’t have a scheming mind? If you’re innocent, you’d have been trampled underfoot long ago."
"Elizabeth won’t," Felix still refused to admit, "I heard she was very sad when I got married, and she wasn’t with me for the money..."
"Third brother, I’m telling you, you’re really naive with too much money," Evander turned around again, asking with exasperation, "You say she’s not after your money, but have you given less? Not even mentioning the small amounts, you invested eighty million in just this movie for her. Without your investment, could she have gotten the lead role with her notoriety?"
"But every time I give her a check, she refuses to take it, always saying she’d rather trade the check for more time with me."
"Ha, this is where you don’t get it," Evander turned back to face forward, taking another sip of beer, "She’s playing hard to get, deliberately refusing, pretending she doesn’t care about your money, so you’ll see her in a different light."
"Is it really?" Felix furrowed his brow, the man with low emotional intelligence couldn’t quite figure it out.
"Of course," Evander leaned in closer, meeting Felix’s yearning gaze with a smile, "That’s her cleverness. Think about it, even though she refuses, doesn’t she ultimately still end up taking your check?" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Evander just turned back and then suddenly thought of something and turned again, "Probably when your mind went blank and you ended up giving her even more, right?"
Felix said nothing, slightly squinting his peach blossom eyes, slowly sipping his beer. It seemed every time it happened just as Evander described. He’d give Elizabeth a check, she’d pretend to refuse it, hug his arm, pleading for more days together, and then he’d soften and give more...
"Looks like it was Elizabeth who called Mia," Felix said, squinting his eyes with a serious expression. He never imagined Elizabeth could be such a person, acting harmless while actually being so scheming.
"Third brother, just accept the facts. It’s not probable; it was definitely her who called the third sister-in-law!"
"No, I have to ask her why she did this." Felix put down the beer can and reached into his trouser pocket to fumble for his phone.
"Come on, don’t be a sore loser," Evander grabbed his phone and tossed it onto the sofa, "The urgent thing is to think about how to bring your wife back, as for that little star, if you want to deal with her, she could be involved in a scandal at any time."
Speaking of Mia Foster’s affair, Felix grabbed the beer can and started guzzling, his gaze dropped and visibly dejected, "Today, when I was fighting with the security guards, she didn’t even cast a glance."
"Pfft," Evander burst out laughing, "Third brother, so the security guards gave you the beating?" Then he leaned in gossipingly, "Quick, tell me, what happened?"
Despite feeling unhappy about being laughed at by his brother, having someone to confide in somewhat eased the discomfort. Felix glared at Evander with discontent and drank a mouthful of beer, saying indignantly, "Today, at the hotel entrance, I caught Mia and that cheating jerk trying to get a room. Just then, the jerk called for the security guards and dragged Mia into the hotel."
"Just for that?" Then he started a conflict with the security guards and got beaten up, Evander asked, bewildered and amused.
Felix remained indignant, glaring at Evander once more, "Hmph! It’s not your wife, so you’re just making sarcastic remarks!"
