Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 756 - 752, The heartwarming scene made Felix Shaw’s eyes a little sore.
A pang of pain struck Felix’s heart as he said, "Mom, let’s get a divorce." It was obvious that between his mother and that woman, his father’s scales had tipped in favor of the latter and her daughter. Continuing to live like this was meaningless.
Upon hearing her son’s advice to get a divorce, Melody Zachary suddenly lifted her gaze. The gentle woman’s eyes now brimmed with stubbornness and resentment.
"I won’t divorce! Why should I hand over the home I’ve worked so hard to maintain to her!"
"But considering Dad’s attitude..."
"I don’t care! If your dad wants to divorce me, it’ll be over my dead body!" Melody Zachary screeched hysterically. Felix sighed, feeling powerless and saddened by his mother’s obstinacy. He couldn’t understand why she insisted on holding onto a man who did not love her.
The joys of his mother’s life were simply playing cards and shopping with the ladies. He was already an adult and he had the means to let his mother continue to live a life of wealth.
Melody Zachary then muttered to herself for a while, until her son persuaded her to go back to her room to rest.
Felix also changed clothes and went out. The girl seemed badly hurt; he wanted to check on her, and incidentally, to probe his father’s intentions.
Oliver Shaw clearly intended to make this mother and daughter public. Instead of avoiding suspicion, he sent Seraphina to Evander Lancaster’s private hospital.
In the VIP ward, the mother Vanessa Armstrong sat in a chair, feeding her daughter canned food with a stainless steel spoon. Oliver leaned sideways against the hospital bed, cradling his daughter in his arms... The scene was so warm it made Felix’s eyes sour.
He had intended to visit but, seeing such a warm scene, he suddenly felt superfluous.
Turning around, ready to leave, he found Evander standing outside the ward door as well, who clapped him on the shoulder and said, "Let’s go. Come sit in my office for a bit."
Taking a deep breath, Felix followed Evander out.
In the office, the two men sat across from each other at the table. Evander took a cigarette box out of the pocket of his white coat and drew out two cigarettes, tossing one to Felix and keeping one for himself.
Bowing his head to light it, he threw the lighter to Felix, took a drag, exhaled, and asked, "What’s your plan?"
Felix also bowed his head to light his cigarette, "I suggested divorce to my mom, but she refuses." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Evander turned his face away, exhaling smoke with a clear scoff, "Why can’t everyone just let go."
In his eyes, there are plenty of men and women in the world, and whether one has a partner or not doesn’t matter as long as one has sufficient economic strength.
Felix looked up at Evander’s cynical demeanor, suddenly feeling envious, "Evander, sometimes I really envy you." His father passed away early, and his mother kept the company for his father without remarrying for over a decade. Although his family was incomplete, at least it didn’t have as many troubles as his own.
A flicker passed through Evander’s eyes, he exhaled smoke and snickered, "What’s there to envy about me? I’m just a bachelor. I’m actually envious of you—you’ve found Mia Foster, such a good woman."
Upon mentioning Mia Foster, Evander suddenly changed the subject, "By the way, does she know about this?"
The two had only recently gotten engaged, and now this incident had happened. As his buddy, Evander was concerned for Felix, worried that it might affect their engagement.
Felix took a drag of his cigarette and half-smiled self-deprecatingly, "She probably knew before I did."
"How could that be?" Evander stopped his smoking gesture, turned back, and looked at Felix, "What did she say? Does she resent you for it?"
"No, she said she would stand with me." Felix’s expression was indifferent, his gaze drifting as he recalled the image of Mia Foster patting his back, telling him he wasn’t alone.
