Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 717 - 713, Evelyn Bailey’s Gossip
Mia Foster envied her parents; decades into their marriage they still behaved like they were in love, with her mother occasionally acting petulantly and her father always being comforting and tolerant. Although there were rumors about her father when she was young, they ultimately turned out to be false.
Mia didn’t have high requirements for a partner; she was capable at work, so she didn’t expect her man to be particularly skilled, as long as he was sincere to her and they could be happy together.
After placating his wife, Edmund Foster turned to his daughter with a serious look.
"Is what you said earlier true?"
"Yes, I saw it with my own eyes, and I heard the girl calling him Uncle Shaw, dad."
Edmund Foster didn’t speak again, his gaze retracted as if in thought.
"Edmund, I think we should still let Felix know, to prepare him mentally, so he’s not caught off guard if it blows up in his face one day."
Edmund Foster turned to look at his wife and then back at his daughter, "Do you think so too?"
Mia Foster, with her hands propped on the couch, looked down, "I think we shouldn’t tell Felix. After all, every father is a hero in their child’s eyes. I don’t want to disappoint him."
"But what if it all comes out one day? Won’t Felix and his mom end up finding out anyway?" Evelyn Bailey anxiously said, her daughter Mia Foster’s straightforward nature truly inherited from her.
Fidgeting with her feet in her slippers, Mia played with them out of boredom, "We’ll deal with it when it’s discovered. I don’t want to be the bad guy."
"How is that being a bad guy? Telling Felix the truth is helping him, letting him and his mother know in advance, so they’re not unprepared when that vixen comes knocking..." Evelyn Bailey meant well, a decent woman naturally stands with the ladies’ circle.
"Alright, stop causing trouble." Before Evelyn Bailey finished speaking, she was cut off by Edmund Foster, who looked at her with a mix of amusement and helplessness, "It’s their family matter, look how worked up you are. If the child is already seven or eight years old and has been safe for so many years, why would they suddenly cause trouble without reason?"
"Hmph, you never know." Evelyn Bailey disagreed, pouting, "I’m telling you, just the other day, Mrs. Zhang’s husband, the one in fashion, had a mistress and a secret child that was already in kindergarten. It all came out because the kid said they didn’t have a father, and guess what happened?"
Evelyn Bailey dramatically widened her eyes, continuing despite her husband’s resigned look, "The mistress brought the child straight to their door, causing a scene and demanding recognition!
You have no idea, we were just at her house playing cards when that woman walked in with her child, sat down on the sofa, ordered the kid around and acted as if it was her own home, Mrs. Zhang couldn’t even chase her away!"
Edmund Foster...
Watching his wife’s animated recounting, he suddenly became stern, "Why are you gossiping with those idle ladies, you are not allowed to play cards with them anymore!"
"I’m not gossiping, I’m telling you the facts," Evelyn Bailey fought back, "That’s not allowed either!" Edmund Foster said authoritatively, then pulled his wife up, "Come on, let’s go to bed, stop worrying about other people’s business!"
Still protesting, Evelyn Bailey retorted, "I’m not worrying about them, if it weren’t for Oliver Shaw being Mia’s future father-in-law, I wouldn’t care at all, this is for her own good, solving it now rather than causing a commotion when Mia gets married..."
While muttering, Evelyn Bailey followed her husband back to their room. Alone in the living room, Mia Foster sat on the couch, chin in hand, lost in thought.
