Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 682 - 678, ’Darling’ on the caller ID
"Has the construction commencement date been set? Do you need my help?"
Felix Shaw turned his head and glanced at Mia Foster, "The date is set, there’s no need to do anything for now. I’ll bring you along for the foundation ceremony."
Mia Foster helped him win a lot, and Felix Shaw happily took the initiative to agree to bring her to the foundation ceremony.
"Sure." Mia Foster agreed readily, suddenly feeling that her relationship with Felix Shaw had grown a little closer, "Felix, invite me along next time you go out to have fun, it’s boring staying at home alone."
"Okay," thinking of Mia Foster’s recent good luck, Felix Shaw agreed without a moment’s hesitation.
Following Felix Shaw into a hotel, he booked a room and even ordered room service to deliver snacks and wine.
Felix Shaw tossed his coat on the couch and went to shower, while Mia Foster leaned back on the sofa, her heart racing uncontrollably at the thought of being alone with Felix Shaw once more.
She took out her phone to call home, informing her mother that she wouldn’t be coming back to stay the night. Just after hanging up, Felix Shaw’s phone started ringing too.
Hesitating for a moment, Mia Foster grabbed Felix Shaw’s coat, fished the phone out of the pocket, intending to bring it to him in the bathroom, but the sight of the name displayed on the incoming call screen made her freeze mid-step.
On the screen, two characters flashed conspicuously, "Darling".
Gazing at those two characters for a long while, until the call disconnected automatically, Mia Foster finally snapped back to reality, put the phone back in its pocket, and then headed toward the bathroom.
Gently knocking on the door, she said, "Felix, you had a call just now."
"Oh, don’t worry about it, I’m almost done showering."
The sound of Felix Shaw’s voice came from inside, along with the cessation of the running water sound. Mia Foster took a deep breath and slowly turned back.
Her mood had been lifted by a slight shift in Felix Shaw’s attitude, but now...
Felix Shaw emerged from the bathroom, wrapped in a hotel robe, towel in hand drying his short hair as he walked towards Mia Foster. Seeing her idly fiddling with her fingers with drooping eyes, he frowned slightly and casually asked, "What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Mia Foster looked up and mustered a forced smile, shaking her head, "No, just a bit bored by myself."
"Oh, go take a shower then, I’ve run the bathwater for you," Felix Shaw said before turning to sit on the sofa. Despite Mia Foster telling him about the missed call, he didn’t rush to check his phone.
Sighing inwardly, Mia Foster understood that his caution was because of her presence. She stood up and said, "I’m going to take a shower."
"Mhm, go ahead, it’s cold, so soak for a bit longer," Felix Shaw advised as he continued to dry his hair, and Mia Foster acknowledged him as she walked to the bathroom.
If it hadn’t been for that call, Mia Foster would have thought that Felix Shaw was being caring. But now, she felt that what he said was merely to afford himself more time.
Watching Mia Foster disappear into the bathroom, Felix Shaw dropped the towel and took out his phone, swiping the screen to check the missed call. His handsome brow furrowed slightly—it was indeed the call he had been thinking of, from Elizabeth White.
Felix Shaw secretly praised Mia Foster’s manners. A different woman might have taken the liberty to answer the call for him.
He called Elizabeth White back, and when she answered, Felix Shaw didn’t greet her with "Darling" as he used to, but instead maintained a serious tone that even Mia Foster in the bathroom would think he was discussing work.
"I was showering just now, so I didn’t answer."
"Felix~ you haven’t visited the set for so long," whined Elizabeth White as soon as she spoke, and even without seeing her, Felix Shaw could imagine her expression at the moment.
