Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 1055 - 1051: Fleeing in Panic
Nicholas Croft’s peacefully sleeping face enters her vision.
His eyes tightly shut, thin lips slightly pursed, and fine eyelashes casting a neat shadow under his eyes.
Beatrice Hargrave sighed silently; what should she do, this man truly becomes more charming as he ages, even in his sleep, he’s so pleasing to look at.
Her fingertips once again poked Nicholas Croft’s chest; he furrowed his brows slightly, grabbed her hand and pressed it against his chest, tightening the arm around her waist—a subconscious action that brought their bodies closer.
At this moment, Beatrice Hargrave realized belatedly that they both were almost completely exposed.
Nicholas Croft was only wearing boxer shorts, and she herself only had on a pink bra and panties!
Her brain was buzzing as if something exploded; taking advantage of Nicholas Croft still being asleep, Beatrice carefully withdrew her hand and cautiously slipped away from his embrace.
Even lifting the thin blanket was done gently, and after sitting up she grabbed her knit sweater and jeans, slipping them on hastily, and tiptoed out of Nicholas Croft’s room.
As the door closed, the sleeping man on the big bed suddenly opened his eyes, looking toward the door, a smile spreading across his lips and eyes.
Beatrice Hargrave leaned on the railing, tiptoeing down the stairs, afraid of disturbing anyone; halfway down, she saw the empty living room below and breathed a quiet sigh of relief, then dashed towards the door and quickly escaped in her sneakers.
In the master bedroom on the second floor, the man standing by the window lifted a corner of the curtain, watching the figure flee, the curve of his lips growing wider.
...
Once outside Nicholas Croft’s villa, Beatrice Hargrave called the driver, stood by the roadside waiting for the car, idly kicking stones at her feet, her mind replaying the recent scene.
She never imagined things with Nicholas Croft would develop so quickly; just over a month and they were already sleeping together.
She knew he never forgot about "Sophie Foster"; the reason he cared for her so much was because she had a strikingly similar face to "Sophie Foster."
But what did it matter, whether he treated her as a substitute or was genuinely attracted to her, the outcome was the same.
Thinking this, she lightly bit her lower lip, unable to hide her smugness. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

An hour later, Beatrice Hargrave returned to the Hargrave Family home, her hands involuntarily clenched at her sides as she entered the door, feeling a bit guilty considering she spent the night at Nicholas Croft’s.
Inside the hall, only the housemaid was busy cleaning. Seeing her enter, she politely said, "Second Miss is back."
Beatrice smiled and responded, glanced around, and asked, "Where’s Madam?"
"Madam went to play cards with friends."
Hearing this, Beatrice quietly sighed in relief.
In the evening, Hannah Hargrave was out for a meeting; at the dining table, only Henry and Josephine Hargrave were present. Beatrice came out of her room, sat at the table, and Josephine Hawthorne glared at her unhappily, snorting, "Spent all night away who knows where fooling around!"
Previously, whenever Josephine Hawthorne made things difficult, Beatrice would respond unceremoniously, regardless of her being an elder. But today, she simply hung her head and avoided responding, trying to minimize her presence.
Henry Hargrave disapprovingly glanced at his wife, then turned to Beatrice and asked sternly, "Beatrice, what did Director Zhang say, will you be cast in the supporting role?"
Faced with her father’s question, Beatrice’s breath caught; she didn’t know how to answer, given she hadn’t seen the director at all last night.
