Mr. CEO's Substitute Bride-Chapter 1028 - 1024: If You Want a Comfortable Life, Behave Yourself
In the room, Beatrice Hargrave lay on the bed, gazing at the night outside the window, lost in thought. ππΏπππ°π²ππ§π π§π²π₯.ππ¨π
The sound of high heels echoed in the hallway outside her room. Hannah Hargrave stopped at her door, entered without knocking, and casually turned on the chandelier.
Beatrice turned her head, still lying on the bed, watching Hannah walk in step by step without speaking.
"So, howβs the bed? Comfortable?" Hannah stood at the bedside, crossed her arms, and sneered with an arrogant tilt at the corners of her lips.
Beatrice knew she wasnβt really concerned for her. Turning over to prop her head with her hand, she asked nonchalantly, "If thereβs something you want to talk about, just say it. I want to rest."
"Actually, itβs nothing much," Hannah kept her arms crossed and chin raised, her eyebrows arched arrogantly. "I just came by to remind you, if you want to live comfortably, youβd better behave yourself. If you piss off my mom, there will be consequences for you!"
"Ha, so what if there are consequences? Like in the novels, some kind of abuse? Or will you throw me out the door?" Beatrice continued to prop up her head, smiling indifferently as she spoke.
Hannah glared at Beatrice, too angry to speak, and snorted at Beatriceβs faintly amused expression. "Beatrice, donβt think that just because Dad brought you back, he acknowledges you as part of this family. Iβm telling you, as long as my mom and I are here, youβll always be the child of the mistress, not the legitimate one!"
"Are you done? If you are, please leave. Donβt worry, no oneβs going to steal your spot as the Hargrave Familyβs young lady." Beatrice sat up, shook out her blanket, and lay back down, showing her back to Hannah, comfortably sighing as if very at ease.
Bitch!
A soft curse of resentment escaped from Hannah as she stomped out of the room in her high heels.
"Donβt see me out, and please turn off the light!" Beatrice commanded with her eyes closed. At the door, Hannah angrily flipped the switch and slammed the door shut as she left.
In the darkness, Beatrice sat up again, staring at the slammed door with a cold smile, "Just a little brat trying to argue with me. Iβll break you in seconds!"
...
To welcome Beatriceβs return, Henry Hargrave specially held a cocktail party, inviting elites from various circles of T City, along with quite a few celebrities.
The party was held at the Yellow Banner Hotel, starting at eight in the evening, with the invited guests arriving one after another.
In the dressing room, Hannah sat in front of the mirror, surrounded by three busy makeup artists, while Beatrice relaxed in a chair, casually sucking on a lollipop.
Hannah glanced at Beatrice through the mirror, inwardly sneering. Children of mistresses will never make it to the big stage, not even knowing how to enjoy having professional makeup artists.
Once her makeup was done and her hair styled, Hannah chose a silver mermaid gown, its body adorned with tiny diamonds that glittered under the lights, looking very captivating.
Beatrice wore a white puff dress, her long hair tied back in a simple ponytail, and pink low-heeled shoes. When the two sisters walked down the stairs arm-in-arm, they caused a stir.
The guests in the hall all looked up, their eyes full of admiration and amazement.
Glancing lightly at the guests below, Beatrice smiled and whispered, "Sister, what do you think... if I accidentally fall right now, how would the guests below perceive you?"
"Beatrice, donβt cause trouble!" Hannah maintained her smiling face, waved to the guests below, and spoke in a low, gritted voice.
Seeing the tall, handsome figure in the hall, a mischievous glimmer quickly flashed in Beatriceβs eyes. With a startle, she cried out, "Ah..." and squatted down painfully on the stairs, furrowing her brows.
