Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 343: Please Don’t Go
Chapter 343: Chapter 343: Please Don’t Go
It was the first time Railer had lied to Daniel. He was relieved that Daniel had only sent a message instead of calling as he knew he wouldn’t have been able to hide the truth over the phone.
"I see. Okay, go get some rest. Take care of Mommy," Daniel replied.
Daniel trusted Railer, but he felt something odd about his son’s answer. With a pillow in his hand, he quietly made his way to Stephanie’s room.
Stephanie was in the middle of packing when she heard footsteps outside her door. Her heart raced in panic. She shoved her luggage under the bed and quickly lay down, pretending to be asleep.
When Daniel lay down beside her and tucked her in, he noticed the bed wasn’t warm. It didn’t feel like someone had been sleeping there for long. His chest tightened. Steph was hiding something.
"Steph, Daddy’s hurt and you know that," he murmured.
"You’ll stay by my side, right?" He asked on purpose.
Stephanie felt a heavy guilt fill her heart. If she really left, Daddy would be all alone.
What if he forgot to take his medicine? He got hurt trying to save Mommy.
That alone made her feel like it was her job to stay and take care of him.
Still, she had to see her godfather.
She told herself she would make it up to Daniel once she got back.
Stephanie believed this was the only way.
When Daniel saw she had finally fallen asleep, he slowly got up and walked around the room.
That’s when he noticed part of her backpack peeking out from behind the curtain.
He picked it up and looked inside.
Inside were her favorite invisibility cloak and a bottle of honey.
He felt sad and disappointed, but he couldn’t bring himself to be mad at her.
He sat on the sofa, unable to sleep the whole night.
At six in the morning, Chantelle, dressed in a stealth suit, sneaked into the Wilson residence. Kane had already disabled the alarm and surveillance, but she still felt things were going too smoothly.
Still, she was inside the compound, so she figured there was no real danger. She pushed the thought aside and headed straight for Stephanie’s room.
But the moment she climbed through the window, she fell into a warm embrace.
When she saw the person holding her was wearing a gas mask, her heart shot up to her throat.
Her hand moved instantly, ready to take him down.
"We haven’t seen each other in days. Looks like you missed me a lot, didn’t you?"
When Chantelle heard the familiar voice, she tried to stop her attack. But it was too late. She had already struck with full force, and the hit landed squarely on Daniel’s shoulder.
"Why didn’t you dodge it?" she glared at him.
Daniel winced and held his shoulder, but there was a smile in his voice. "I was scared that if I dodged, you’d never touch me again."
"Let me take a look."
Chantelle suddenly remembered the pool of blood next to the motorcycle on the day of the accident. Her chest tightened as she felt worried. She quickly reached out, wanting to remove his suit and check if he was hurt.
Daniel grabbed her wrist. He had gloves on, but he didn’t want to let go.
Chantelle stared into his eyes. Something about the moment made her heart feel strange.
"Did you catch some disease? Why are you wearing a suit?" Chantelle tried to change the subject, but Daniel let go of her and stumbled back.
"Wait... did you actually catch something?" she asked.
Chantelle kept asking questions, but then she realized she was in Stephanie’s room. Stephanie was lying in bed without any protection. Knowing how much Daniel cared for her, he wouldn’t be here without a good reason.
"Why are you visiting Steph so early in the morning?" Daniel asked casually.
Chantelle didn’t answer. She walked over to the bed and gently nudged Stephanie, who was still deeply sleeping.
Stephanie opened her eyes and saw her. She immediately wrapped her arms around her. "Mommy, I missed you so much!"
"You’re awake?" Chantelle asked softly.
Stephanie looked at her, eyes showing she remembered what Kane had told her last night before. She gave a quick nod.
"My wife, you haven’t—" Daniel started, but stopped when Chantelle suddenly turned and injected something into his arm.
Her hands were shaking. She held her breath, watching carefully his reaction.
The last time, when Camille tricked him, the tranquilizer she used caused him fertility issues.
"What are you doing?" Daniel grabbed her hand tightly.
Chantelle picked up Stephanie and gently said, "Don’t worry. I’m just taking her with me."
"How dare you!" Daniel’s heart pounded. He thought she was planning to leave him for good, taking all three kids with her.
It all made sense now. That’s why she had been so eager to get their divorce finalized.
"Mr. Wilson, I’m just going out with my child. What’s wrong with that?" Chantelle said, trying to remove his fingers away from her arm.
Daniel’s vision started to blur. He looked at Stephanie in her arms and whispered weakly, "Steph... stay with me, please?"
Stephanie’s eyes filled with tears, but she had already chosen to follow her mom. "I’m sorry, Daddy..."
Just then, Kane’s voice came through Chantelle’s earpiece. "Mommy, the butler found the breach in the system. You need to leave with Steph now."
"Please... don’t go..." Daniel whispered, losing his balance. He stumbled and fell against a table. freewēbnoveℓ.com
He struggled to keep his eyes open, refusing to look away from Chantelle.
Chantelle felt completely lost, but Kane kept urging her through the earpiece. She clenched her jaw, pushed her doubt aside, and climbed over the ledge, leaving the room. She left the residence with Stephanie and Kane.
A sports car was parked outside the house. Calvin sat in the driver’s seat. Kane was beside him. Railer was hiding in the trunk.
Ten minutes later, Chantelle came out with Stephanie.
"Mommy, Daddy looked so sad," Stephanie said as she got in the car. She pressed her face against the window and looked back at the mansion. Just moments ago, Daniel had looked at her with such disappointment.
"Steph, do you want to stay with him?" Chantelle asked gently. She always paid attention to what her children really felt.
If Xander hadn’t grown so attached to the kids, Chantelle wouldn’t have planned to bring them with her back to Carcosa.
She would’ve been completely fine going back alone.
