Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 315: Move It
Chapter 315: Chapter 315: Move It
"Go bring the goods in," the man said, pointing at a nearby truck.
Daniel walked over to the truck. Inside were about thirty white sacks.
He picked one up and felt that it was warm. He pressed his hand around it and realized that there was a person inside it.
Why are these people stuffed in sacks? What is Trenton planning to do with them?
A sudden thought appeared in Daniel’s head, sending a chill down his spine.
"Move it! Don’t just stand there like an idiot!" the Carcosan barked. He was already waiting by the elevator.
Daniel loaded the sacks onto a trolley and pushed it into the elevator.
When they reached the third floor, the Carcosan told him to unload them.
As Daniel started, one of the sacks began to twitch. The person inside had woken up and was struggling hard.
Daniel glanced at the Carcosan, who casually pulled out a syringe filled with some kind of liquid and stabbed it into the sack. Within seconds, the person inside the sack had stopped moving.
That must have been a tranquilizer.
"Get the goods inside! Do I have to spell everything out for you?" the man yelled again, shoving Daniel’s shoulder. He was clearly annoyed.
Daniel quickly followed without saying a word and pushed the trolley into the room.
At the door, he saw a few people inside wiping down a "person" on the operating table.
The whole lab reeked of blood smell. Even with Daniel’s tough nature, he couldn’t stop his stomach from twisting at the horrifying scene in front of him.
Daniel’s finger hovered over the light switch. He wasn’t sure what to do next.
The people who had been cleaning the operating table opened the white sacks and placed the bodies onto the tables.
Some of them began to wake up. They started moving, trying to fight back. However, their arms and legs were tightly strapped down. They couldn’t move properly.
The blue-eyed Carcosan walked toward them, whistling a cheerful tune, holding a scalpel in his hand.
"No, no! Please let us go! I’m begging you!"
"Help! Somebody help me!"
What was about to happen here was pure horror and completely different from the elegant masquerade ball happening above.
This was what made Trenton’s lab the most advanced in the world.
"Why are you just standing there? Get over here and help me!" the Carcosan glared at Daniel.
Daniel obediently walked toward him but halfway there, the lights in the lab suddenly went out.
A gust of wind rushed past the Carcosan researcher. Then came the sound of metal clicking.
His eyes widened in shock. It was the sound of the shackles unlocking on their own.
Panic took over. He turned and ran toward the exit, but before he could get far, something sharp stabbed into his body.
The whole lab broke into chaos.
Daniel didn’t look back. He hurried out and made his way to the tenth basement floor of the underground complex.
Chantelle’s antidote was stored on that floor. Daniel had to get it. But it wasn’t going to be easy.
Right after the lights went out, alarm bells started ringing. The "lab rats" rushed toward the exit, desperate to escape.
None of them knew the hallway was guarded by infrared sensors.
The lab rats who rushed forward were shot down instantly and their bodies fell with bullet wounds. The others behind them froze in fear, and no one dared to move.
Then, a man with messy hair began to walk down the corridor in a strange, awkward way.
"Please, don’t leave us here!" the other people cried out, eyes full of fear.
The man stopped and turned to glare at them. His voice was cold. "Stay right there. Don’t move."
Then he walked away into the darkness.
A few minutes later, the infrared sensors in the corridor shut down. The man returned and silently led the people into a safe place.
Meanwhile, at the masquerade ball upstairs, a crowd gathered around the old man, flattering him with smiles and praises.
One of his bodyguards leaned down and whispered something into his ear.
His face went pale. Without saying a word, he ordered the bodyguard to take him to the underground laboratory immediately.
"Show me the cameras!" he shouted, slamming his fists on the wheelchair’s armrests.
The bodyguard opened a laptop and put it on his lap.
The lab was completely dark. Only red heat signatures showed up on the thermal feed. Everything inside was in chaos.
"Why isn’t the power back yet?" the old man shouted and his face twisted in anger.
All the bodyguards were scared and no one dared to speak.
Finally, one of them answered, "Someone hacked into our network."
"Useless! Every one of you!" the old man barked and his eyes were sharp as they moved from one bodyguard to the next. "If the power isn’t back in three minutes, you’ll be the next batch of lab rats!"
The bodyguards were stunned when they heard that. They all knew exactly what the lab rats went through. A cold shiver ran down their spines.
Driven by fear, they scrambled to work. In exactly three minutes, the power came back on.
All the escapees were caught and brought back except for one person.
"The disheveled man is still missing, Lord," a bodyguard said as he handed over the man’s file.
The old man’s face darkened when he saw the missing man’s profile. He was a war veteran. Someone who had fought in a major conflict.
The old man immediately thought; This man must be here for revenge. freewebnøvel.coɱ
"Find him! No matter what it takes!" he growled as his jaw clenched.
This mission was his last chance. If he failed, he knew he wouldn’t die peacefully.
The tenth basement floor was filled with more traps than any of the other nine, maybe because the antidote was stored here.
By the time Daniel reached the safe, his body was already covered in wounds.
However, Daniel had no choice. He had to keep going. He quickly slipped a thin, transparent glove over his thumb and pressed it against the fingerprint lock. The moment his thumb touched it, the lab’s alarm went off.
Meanwhile, the old man in the wheelchair got a new update from his subordinate.
"Intruder on the tenth floor. It’s not the missing rat."
That meant there was another intruder they had completely overlooked.
Sweat soaked the old man’s back. Something felt terribly wrong. "Secure all exits," he ordered sharply as he clenched his jaw. "We must catch that intruder, dead or alive."
Groups of bodyguards rushed down to the tenth floor of the underground lab, but Daniel still hadn’t managed to open the safe.
He considered taking the whole safe with him, but it was welded tightly to the wall.
