Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 24 - : A Precious Gift
Chapter 24 - 24: A Precious Gift
"Thanks, Calvin," she said with a small smile, finally feeling relieved.
Calvin was caught off guard. His face turned slightly red, but he quickly composed himself. "It's my job to take care of you, Ms. Chantelle. What's the plan now?"
Chantelle's eyes darkened with determination. "Kate might fool Daniel, but not me. Since she's so eager to attend the charity dinner, I'll make sure she gets a big surprise."

Allen woke up in a VIP hospital room.
Pain shot through his body. He had multiple fractures from the fall, but his injuries weren't fatal. Landing on a car had softened the impact.
After surgery, he was moved to a private room. He was shocked to be alive.
He tried to sit up but couldn't. His body felt heavy. Then he realized—he was strapped to the bed.
The door suddenly creaked open.
His breath caught in his throat when he saw who it was. Fear gripped him.
"Mr. Wilson," he whispered, breaking into a cold sweat.
Daniel walked toward him, and burning anger filled his eyes. "Tell me who ordered you to hurt my son."
His voice was low, but the threat in it made Allen tremble.
Ashton entered the room with a few bodyguards. He pulled up a chair, setting it beside the bed for Daniel.
"Mr. Wilson, I didn't hurt your son!" Allen pleaded. His voice shook as he tried to explain.
Daniel's expression darkened. "Wrong answer."
"Please, trust me! I'm telling the truth!" Allen begged desperately.
Before he could say more, a sharp, unbearable pain shot up his leg. He let out a bloodcurdling scream.
One of Daniel's bodyguards had just broken his leg.
The pain was too much. His vision blurred, and he passed out.
A splash of ice-cold water jolted him awake. His body trembled. His face was as pale as a ghost.
Daniel loomed over him and blurted out in a chilling voice. "I'm not going to kill you, Allen." His tone was calm, but his words sent shivers down Allen's spine. "But if you don't tell me the truth, I will make you suffer until you wish you were dead."
Before Allen could process his words, another snap echoed through the room.
Pain exploded in his left arm. His scream tore through the walls.
His breathing became ragged. His body contorted in agony.

He hadn't even spoken yet, and now his arm was broken, too.
His eyes darted to Daniel, filled with terror. He was shaking. If I don't talk now... I won't leave this room alive.
"Aww, look at you," Daniel grinned. "Are you scared? Tell me the truth now, and I might show you some mercy."
Allen's body quivered. His breath came in short gasps.
"Mr. Wilson, please... just kill me!" he screamed.
Daniel's smile faded. His eyes darkened. "Wrong answer."
Allen's agonized screams filled the room again.
Daniel stood up, smirking. "You know, it doesn't matter. Sooner or later, I'll find out who you're protecting."
He tapped Allen's face mockingly.
Then, without another word, he turned around.
He pulled off his gloves, tossed them into the trash, and walked out of the room.
"No, Mr. Wilson! No one ordered me to do anything!" Allen shouted with all of his strength. "I did everything on my own! I swear I'm telling the truth!"

Across the city, Chantelle was trapped in a nightmare.
A thunderstorm raged outside, just like that Christmas Eve five years ago.
She was drenched in the pouring rain. Pain shot through her stomach, but she still knelt before Daniel, begging him to trust her.
But he didn't.
His eyes were filled with anger and hatred.
He had believed everything Kate said. He refused to listen to her.
Yet, it was Kate who had murdered Wesley.
Chantelle had tried to explain her side but he didn't listen to her words.
Then, he abandoned her.
The pain of that moment crushed her all over again.
She was drowning in the nightmare when a sharp ping from her phone snapped her awake.
She shot up, panting. Her chest heaved as she struggled to calm herself.
Reaching for her phone, she checked the screen.
Messages from Kane came.
For once, she was grateful to that little brat. His texts had pulled her out of the darkness.
"Get ready, Mommy! A special gift from your cutest son is about to arrive."
"Mommy, it's been an hour! Your gift is arriving. Did you see my message?"
"Mommy! Are you still busy counting money with my little brother?"
"I'm sad. Nobody wants me."
The last message had been sent just a minute ago.
Chantelle chuckled, picturing that little brat pretending to cry.
She quickly typed a reply.
"I'm sorry! I just woke up. Will you please forgive me for replying late?"
Kane immediately sent another message.
"Fine. I know you love me."
He then spammed her with selfies, grinning triumphantly in each one.
Chantelle shook her head, amused, and was about to reply when a loud chopping noise echoed from above.
The sound grew louder.
She frowned and hurried to the rooftop to check.
A helicopter had landed on the helipad.
Her chest tightened. Who could this be?
The pilot stepped out, holding a massive teddy bear made of preserved roses.
Her eyes widened. Embroidered across the bear's chest were the words: "Kane Bently."
The pilot approached her with a bright smile. "Ms. Chantelle, I'm pleased to present to you the A1808 helicopter."
He gestured toward the glossy aircraft behind him. "Thank you for your purchase. Please enjoy flying with this gorgeous machine!"
Chantelle was utterly shocked.
Did my son really just buy me a helicopter?
It was a sweet gesture, but one question lingered in her mind.
Where did he get the money?
She thanked the pilot, then hurried back to her room.
Without wasting a second, she called Kane.
"You little brat! Where did you get the money to buy a helicopter?!" she scolded him immediately.
Kane's voice came through the phone, full of mischief. "So, you got your present, Mommy. What do you think? Are you finally impressed with your amazing son?"
