Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 20 - : She Had Her Own Doubts
Chapter 20 - 20: She Had Her Own Doubts
Mom said it would be a waste if I didn't take advantage of a bad person.
He was blunt with his words.
"Of course. Tell me what you want, Rai. I'll get it for you!"
A glint appeared in his eyes when he heard her response.
Die, scum!
You mess with my brother. You mess with me!

At the Western Hill Villa, Chantelle sat with the recently awake Railer.
Despite his reluctance to speak, she understood his timidity was due to his upbringing. That's why she had asked Kane to hide in the attic.

She still wanted to connect more with Railer.
However, Chantelle, who believed she had raised her children well, struggled to comfort the little one.
Toys. Dolls. Storytime. Cars. Skateboarding. Cartoons? She desperately tried to find something he liked, but nothing seemed to work.
He even had a temper.
Whenever the Wilson family or his injury was mentioned, he would close his eyes and pretend to sleep.
He was so good at faking sleep that he could rival Kane.
Just as she thought she might get a break, a chime sounded from her phone.
A notification popped up.
"Four hundred million has been deposited into your account..."
The sound of money made Railer, who was pretending to sleep, open his eyes again.
Chantelle felt like she had discovered something new and could barely contain her excitement.
"You like this sound, Rai?"
The small spark of excitement in Railer's eyes vanished instantly.
She was frustrated, but at least she had found a way to reach him.
She tapped on her phone's account page where the transaction appeared and placed it in Railer's hand. "This is the money I tricked Kate into giving me. You can buy whatever you want with it!"
With no verbal response, she decided to let him do as he pleased.
One of his arms was uninjured, so that was enough!
Railer seemed to come to his senses when he heard Kate's name.
He glanced at the phone screen, then back at Chantelle.
After a moment of hesitation, he tapped on the phone before handing it back to her.
She was surprised when she saw what was on the homepage.
It was a page about stock investment.
"Are you suggesting I should use this money to invest in this stock?" Chantelle asked, baffled.
She had her own doubts.
Could this son of mine actually be a genius?
She swallowed nervously, overwhelmed by excitement.
Railer nodded. Even though he was so young, Chantelle was impressed by how smart Railer was with money.
She smiled and said, "Okay, let's do it! Let's buy the stock you suggested."
Chantelle quickly called Calvin and told him to invest all 400 million dollars in the stock.
Railer was surprised that someone he had only met a few days ago would listen to him. She had been kind and patient with him.
Nobody had ever listened to him. His dad never listened to him; he only listened to his Auntie Kate.
Railer stopped talking because no one was paying attention.
Even though his dad never yelled at him because of his Auntie Kate's accusations, Railer always felt like he didn't belong in his family.
This was the first time someone actually listened to him, and it felt good.
His eyes filled with tears of happiness as he felt a warm feeling inside.
Chantelle noticed and asked worriedly, "Rai, is everything okay? You can tell me anything."
Railer liked Chantelle's soft voice. He looked up at her and hesitated for a moment before shaking his head.
He clenched his fists and tried to hold back his tears.
Chantelle's heart ached. She held Railer's hands and gently comforted him, "Don't worry, Rai. I'm here with you no matter what."
Feeling safe with her, Railer started to relax. Soon, he drifted off to sleep.
After tucking him in, Chantelle quietly left his room and returned to her work.
She opened her laptop and played the surveillance video of the cemetery.
Her expression darkened when she saw a familiar face—Kate was there.
Meanwhile, at the break of dawn, Daniel sat in his study, wide awake.
Exhaustion weighed on him, but frustration kept him from resting.
No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop thinking about Chantelle. He realized he never truly knew her.
He shook his head, but another thought troubled him—Railer's teary eyes. He had never questioned Kate before, but now, doubt crept in.
Had she mistreated Railer?
The possibility made his chest tighten. If she had, he would never forgive himself.
Daniel let out a weary sigh. On top of everything, he still had the tracking device in his car to deal with.
So far, he had only discovered that it was transmitting location data to a server inside the Bently residence.
A notification popped up on Daniel's computer. He leaned forward and saw an alert for a video file. His system had been hacked.
Annoyed, he quickly tried to trace the hacker, but it was too late.
They had covered their tracks well, leaving no clues behind.
He frowned and clicked on the video. It lasted only a minute, but it was enough to make his blood boil.
The footage showed a man throwing a child over a fence.
The image was blurry, but he recognized the child's shirt. It was the same one Railer wore the day he fell.
Daniel sat frozen. His heart pounded as he took a screenshot and used every tool he had to sharpen the image.
After several adjustments, the picture became clear. It was Railer.
There was no doubt about it. The man in the video resembled Allen Morris, who Ashton had reported missing at the cemetery.
As the pieces fell into place, Daniel's anger surged. He had underestimated Kate. No one else could have planned this.
How dare they try to kill my son!
"Ashton!" Daniel shouted.
Ashton immediately entered, having been waiting outside the study.
Daniel's eyes burned with fury. "Where is Kate?" he demanded.
"Sir, Ms. Kate was in Railer's room earlier but left not long ago," Ashton reported. "I checked on Railer. He seems to be in a good mood. There's nothing to worry about, sir."
Daniel didn't respond. Instead, he turned his laptop around and played the video. "Find this man," he ordered.
