Chapter 83: Chapter 81: You’ve Got Some Nerve, Daring to Drive Me Away (2)

Quincy nodded. "Alright, let’s meet tonight at eight o’clock. Room 306 in the third-floor VIP section of Lush Lips. I won’t bother you at work any longer. I’ve watched your show at home—you’re very charming."

Sharon Ainsworth waved him off. "Goodbye."

Looking like the cat that got the cream, Quincy purred, "I’ll be waiting for you tonight."

She turned away, her expression turning foul. ’I know exactly what that pig is after, but I have no choice but to go.’

Sharon Ainsworth was in a foul mood all day.

She barely made it through the workday. When evening came, she went home, had a quick dinner, and left for the appointment without even changing her clothes.

She parked her car a short distance from the entrance and put on a mask and hat before going inside.

She went straight to the third floor. Standing at the door to Room 306, she hesitated, not wanting to go in.

After a long moment of deliberation, Sharon Ainsworth finally pushed the door open.

Quincy was already there, sipping a glass of wine. As soon as he saw her, he beckoned her over. "Sharon, come, sit down. The wine I’ve opened today isn’t sold commercially. You have to try it."

He poured her a glass as he spoke.

"Come on, let’s have a toast." He raised his glass.

Sharon Ainsworth clinked her glass against his and drank slowly.

After they finished their drinks, Quincy finally spoke. "The woman who locked me up at that banquet... it was none other than Nora Ainsworth. I only found out after I checked the security footage. She was wearing a mask at the time. I’m not going to let her get away with it."

A flicker of delight went through Sharon. "It was really Nora?"

"Of course. I’m looking into her whereabouts right now. Once I find her, I’ll teach her a lesson!"

Sharon Ainsworth put on a smile. "Her big-shot benefactor is Herman Hawthorne now. Do you dare to touch her? Aren’t you afraid of offending him?"

Quincy’s eyes glinted. "I wouldn’t dare do anything in the open. But if I get her in secret... who’s going to know?"

Just as Sharon was about to say something, his large hand clamped down on her thigh. "Your family may be well-off, but it would be child’s play for me to deal with you. Want to test me?"

Sharon’s nerves tensed. "My wedding to Quentin Grant hasn’t been officially called off. If you dare to touch me, you’ll regret it!"

Quincy roared with laughter. "Everyone in Alveria knows you were dumped! If Quentin Grant had any intention of marrying you, he never would have canceled the wedding on the day. You fool, did you really think he wanted to marry you? Hahaha! Do you even have a brain? But none of that matters now, does it?"

He tilted her chin up. "Don’t try to play the virtuous lady when you’re acting like a whore. The only thing that sets you apart from the women in the brothels is your family name. Take that away, and you’re nothing!"

Sharon slapped his hand away. "You? You think you can have me? In your dreams! I would never be with you!"

She stood up, feeling deeply uneasy.

Quincy shot up and shoved her back down onto the sofa. "Let’s see who’s stronger!"

True fear finally gripped Sharon. She bit down hard on his shoulder, then used every ounce of her strength to shove him away and scrambled for the door.

"Fuck! You dare bite me!"

Quincy sprang up from the sofa and went after her.

Sharon’s heart was about to pound out of her chest. She threw the door open and bolted.

Just as Quincy was about to grab her from behind, she saw a familiar face—Leon Lynch.

"Leon!"

In that instant, no one could have known the sheer relief that flooded Sharon’s heart.

Leon Lynch looked up and saw his cousin chasing Sharon Ainsworth.

The implication was obvious.

"Cousin, what are you doing?" Leon Lynch yelled, his brow furrowed.

Quincy stopped and forced a smile. "Nothing. She owes me money and hasn’t paid it back. I was just telling her to pay up, and she suddenly took off."

Sharon shook her head frantically. "Leon, he’s lying! For the sake of how you were almost my brother-in-law, please, help me! He was trying to force himself on me!"

Quincy was stunned. "Sharon Ainsworth, you’d better watch what you say! Take a good look at yourself! You weren’t saying this when you came looking for me, were you? Leon, a big reason you and Nora Ainsworth never got married is her! She’s the one who schemed and put me up to going after Nora. It was all her rotten idea!"

"It wasn’t me! Leon, it was your mother! It was your mother’s idea!" Sharon explained frantically, the panic on her face undeniable. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Leon’s face turned livid, his hands trembling uncontrollably.

Seeing the signs of an impending eruption, Quincy backpedaled sheepishly. "It was all this woman’s idea, it had nothing to do with my aunt... Uh, I’ve got to go."

He tucked his tail between his legs and slipped away before Leon could explode.

Leon stared down at her, his face a cold mask. "What the hell is going on?"

Sharon’s mind raced. "Come with me."

Leon followed her back into the private room.

"It was your mother and your cousin. They conspired together to go after my sister, Nora. I found out and wanted to tell you, but then Quincy summoned me here. He tried threatening and bribing me, and when that didn’t work, he tried to force himself on me."

"Is that true?"

"Of course it’s true!" Sharon swore. "I’m telling you the absolute truth. And your cousin Quincy... he’s had his sights set on Nora for a long, long time."

Leon said, "I see."

He asked her a few more questions, then left the room, leaving Sharon alone.

He went straight to the Lynch residence.

Mrs. Lynch had already gotten a call from Quincy, so she was prepared with a story.

But Leon just sat in the living room, not saying a word.

She had no choice but to break the silence. "Son, what’s wrong?"

Leon looked up. "Mom... you’ve ruined your son’s life."

Mrs. Lynch didn’t seem surprised in the slightest. She admitted it openly. "Leon, you have to understand. Nora Ainsworth is completely wrong for you. The person in the thick of it is always blind, but an outsider can see clearly. I saw it plain as day—she has no feelings for you. Besides, I don’t like her. So, who are you going to choose? Her, or your mother?"

"Mom, why couldn’t you just try to like her?" he asked, his brow furrowed and his face pale.

"Why should I have to like someone I don’t like?" Mrs. Lynch said dismissively. "I just don’t like her. I don’t need a reason."

Leon said nothing more. He turned and went upstairs.
