Mr. CEO Has a Crush on Me-Chapter 1394: His Wife Is the Most Important
Xie Liancheng turned his head and looked at them with a satisfied smile, "Work is busy, but family is the most important."
"Of course, she is the most important," he raised an eyebrow, answering without hesitation. Seeing the car had already stopped at Gu Corporation, Gu Annan gave her a light kiss on the cheek before getting out.
Just as he returned to the office, Mu Bei was already waiting.
"How is it?" Gu Annan asked seriously, walking in quickly, "Didn’t you say there were new clues?"
He didn’t attend the meeting with Lu Wanwan, which was just a secondary reason.
On one hand, he wanted to give them father and daughter some time; more importantly, Mu Bei had found new leads on that female doctor.
The first thing upon returning to Gu Corporation was to postpone the meeting.
"Mo Han’s people tried to kill her, probably to silence her, but they didn’t succeed. It’s said she was injured at the time and escaped by chance, then disappeared without a trace. But we should be able to confirm she is not dead," Mu Bei said, handing over the relevant materials and files, "This is what we could find about her background."
Gu Annan glanced at the information, frowning, "Coincidence?"
"Perhaps, for the time being, we haven’t found other issues."
Xia Li, twenty-six years old, Chinese-American, but was born in Manchester.
"Wasn’t it said she was adopted from an orphanage?" Gu Annan asked, looking at the file.
"We couldn’t find any information before she went to the orphanage. The orphanage had once been through a big fire, and although there weren’t any casualties, all historical files were destroyed. The old director has long since passed away, so many children’s pasts in the orphanage can’t be found unless they remember themselves," Mu Bei explained, "She was under ten years old when she was adopted, which is an age to remember things, and knows she was born in Manchester, which quite a few of her classmates know. But she seldom mentioned her own background, so we didn’t find much. Her record has always been normal, spending most of her time in school or the lab, living a simple life."
"Do you suspect someone helped her escape?"
"I wouldn’t know that. Her life is too ordinary, participating in that drug research seems to be the only private work she’s done. I just feel, for Mo Han to want to silence someone, someone like her escaping isn’t very likely."
Mu Bei was merely speculating, his tone very cautious.
"But I haven’t met her, so for now, I’ll reserve my judgment. Perhaps she indeed has the capability and luck, you never know."
"Dig a little deeper, it’s best to find any connection she has to Manchester. Actually, if she’s smart, she should know where to escape to if she wants to run for her life," Gu Annan sat down, his voice growing increasingly colder.

There weren’t many servants at the Ye Mansion, Aunt Qiu greeted them briefly, then Lu Wanwan took Xie Liancheng upstairs.
"This is my mom’s room..." She opened the door, looking at the furnishings that remained as before, "After Lu Jingtian remarried, this room underwent a big change. But after we drove them out, I restored it."
The room was simple, without excessive luxury decorations or priceless antiques, the only ornament was the painting of her grandfather on the wall.
Xie Liancheng didn’t say anything, silently looking at everything.
Finally, he took out an old photograph, his hands slightly trembling.
The photo was a solo picture of Ye Jing, with the background being this room.
Xie Liancheng gazed at the landscape painting for a long time, finally placing the photo in Lu Wanwan’s hand, "This is your mother’s thing, consider it as me returning it to her."
