The sight of the progress he has made filled him with encouragement to continue.
There hasn’t been much progress in terms of the training of his techniques, just an increase of a few percentages here and there. So the largest source of encouragement is the increase to his karma.
In just one week, he has earned a total of 87,000 karma. 70,000 was from the lives of the members of the Black Band gang. 7,000 was from his dojo, while 10,000 was from his distribution of bread.
He should have earned 8,000 karma from distributing bread. He earned 2,000 more because of the increase in the budget for bread thanks to the infusion of funds from the coffers of the Black Band gang.
He didn’t spend all the money he had looted from the chest on bread, but even if he had, the amount of karma he would have received from it wouldn’t compare to the amount of karma he received from liberating the people from the tyranny of the Black Band gang.
The karma he received from killing the members of the Black Band gang is the major source of karma for him this week. It was a free source of karma that didn’t cost him any money. He even earned money from the act.
The only thing he used to earn that much karma is his time and his life. He had to risk his life for that karma. It is why he hasn’t gone to attack the other gangs yet.
He had gambled his life when he attacked the Black Band gang. For the risk he took, he earned karma. But things could have easily gone the other way.
He also knows that even though he was victorious in that encounter, it didn’t mean things would always go his way during subsequent attacks. Especially since he would have lost the element of surprise.
He attacked a gang the first time and got away with it. Even though his reaction was unreasonable, he has the excuse that they were the ones who came looking to him for trouble.
But he won’t have such a moral high ground if he takes the initiative to attack other gangs. Even if he succeeds, the other gangs might not sit still anymore and will come to him looking for trouble.
This is the sort of thing he expects to happen if he attacks a gang again. It would be much worse if he attacked a group of gangs while they are fighting over the vacant territory that was left behind by the Black Band gang.
They are fighting each other, but that can easily change if he enters that whirlpool of conflict to kill one of them. All of them can unite against him and try to get rid of him.
He knows that it was easy to kill, and he got a lot of benefits from it, but he didn’t let that get to his head and make him lose caution. After all, if he can kill, he can also be killed. It is something that he has to be prepared for.
So even though using the lives of gang members can be his largest source of karma, it is the most dangerous and probably the most expensive. After all, he has only one life. Once he loses that one life, things are over for him.
On the other hand, while running a dojo or giving out bread is a slow source of karma, it is steady and risk-free. He can do them without putting his life on the line.
After thinking of all of this, he said to himself, "This is why I need to exercise."
There are a lot of problems with trying to earn karma by getting rid of gangs, but these problems can be solved with strength and power. Since strength can only be earned by training and working hard in his exercise, he has to exercise.
He nodded after making up his mind. "With more power comes longevity and freedom. With more power comes more karma, and with more karma comes more divine abilities. So I must exercise."

After encouraging himself, he stood up and went to where his sledgehammer lay. Then he picked it up and began what would be a two-hour exercise session that would leave his body broken and battered.
Ruff followed him silently and lay down beside him. The dog closed his eyes after a while and went to sleep soon after.
Meanwhile, the result of his assessment by the lackeys of the alliance of dojos had been taken to the officials. The officials met to decide on what to do about him.
Just like he did, the first thing the officials did was to gather information about him. They had better information channels and were willing to pay more, so they got to find out a lot more about him than he did about them.
They found out that at the age of five, he experienced an unexplained growth spurt that caused his body to develop rapidly. This growth spurt made him develop a second transformation body at the age of seven.
This development made him start training early. Then he used 4 years to go from the second transformation to the seventh transformation.
They also learned who his mother is and what he did for most of his days. They heard about how he terrorized his neighbors, sanded their soup, and killed their dogs all to get bread, which he gave away for free.
