The first thing that the power elders did was to go and determine the power of the man-eating plant. This cost them some of their lives because Ouroborus ate some of them.

Ouroborus is very slow for a being at the fourth mortal coil, but it is still faster than many people at the third mortal coil. No matter how some elders tried to escape, Ouroborus was able to catch up to them and kill them.

Once the presence and power of Ouroborus were confirmed, and it was determined that they couldn't defeat the man-eating plant, the patriarch of the cultivation family reached out to the Beast Training sect for help.

This time, someone from the Beast Training sect came to help. They had to come partly to save the cultivation family, but mostly to capture the man-eating plant and tame it. So Ouroborus was the bait in this fishing attempt.

Ouroborus played his part well and reeled in a big fish. But things were not exactly as Arthur had expected.

The fish that came seemed to know exactly what was going on. This was because when Arthur appeared to intercept her, she didn't seem surprised by his presence at all.

When she saw him, she said, "As expected, there is something fishy here. It wasn't a coincidence that there was a disturbance of a rank 4 beast just days after a cultivation family was destroyed nearby. This is a trap to lure someone out of the sect, and it could only have been done by the bloodthirsty freaks of the Blood Skull sect."

This made Arthur frown. Then he asked her, "If you already know, then why did you come out?"

Her eyes glinted sharply as she said, "I came out to fight."

She was mostly humanoid, but she had some colorful scales on her face, neck, and arms. This made her possess a reptilian appearance.

She was holding a long blue spear in her hand. This matched the blue color of her scales and hair. It also matched the blue color of her eyes.

Speaking of her eyes, they were focused on him. And in the, he saw a determination to fight. So it seemed to him that she wasn't bluffing about her intentions to fight despite knowing that she was walking into a trap.

However, he didn't let what she said fool him. It was also possible that she was bluffing and talking in order to delay him or make him lose confidence and let her go. So he didn't back down despite the glare in her eyes.

He snorted and said, "It sounds to me that you're just stupid. You knew that you were walking into a trap, but you still came anyway. It is clear that you like courting death. Let me do you a favor and send you on your way."

As he was speaking, he condensed a bolt of lightning in his hand. Then he threw the bolt of lightning at her.

The blue bolt of lightning disappeared in his hand and almost immediately reappeared in front of her. She blocked the bolt with her spear, but the bolt exploded and smashed condensed energy into her face.

If not for the energy barrier around her, the explosion would have taken half of her life. But even with the energy barrier protecting her, she was still injured.

The energy barrier was broken by the explosion, and because she wasn't a body refiner, the explosion burned away her skin and a layer of flesh beneath the skin.

Just one attack sent her flying, injured and disheveled. This kind of outcome surprised Arthur because he expected her to have something planned to deal with his power.

He knew he was strong, so he was certain that he could have killed her with a single attack. After all, he was more than twice as strong as she, even though she was at the peak of the fourth mortal coil.

But he also expected her to know that he was strong, be cautious, and have a card up her sleeve to deal with his power. This was why he had used a casual attack to test her and see her source of confidence for intentionally walking headfirst into a trap.

But instead of seeing her source of confidence, what he saw was her making a fool of herself. This made Arthur begin to ask himself if he was right to call her stupid earlier.

When he had called her stupid, it was mostly trash talk. But now, he wasn't so sure that she wasn't stupid.

He frowned and said, "Is this all you've got? Why didn't you even bring out your pet to fight me? Do you really want to die?"

As he spoke, he created more lightning bolts that he sent her way. He still didn't go all out or rush at her because he found this whole thing to be suspicious. He was suspecting that maybe this was a trap for him.

In response to what he said, the lady wiped the soot from the explosion away from her face and said angrily, "Just you wait. You will die soon."

Then she activated her beast pouch and released her pet. This didn't surprise him because, as a member of the Beast Training sect, she should have at least one pet to fight with. What surprised him was that her per was a worm.

The worm was a giant creature more than two meters long and as thick as the trunk of a tree. If not for the concentric rings in its body and the way it was moving, one would have mistaken it for a log of wood.

The worm was white and milky. It looked like a giant maggot. But then it latched onto the lady with its mouth and began to suck her blood.

As the worm siphoned her blood, it quickly changed from white to red. Then it coiled around her and began to produce tiny hairs on its surface.
