Mommy Wolf: Raise A Cub, Claimed By His Beast Daddy-Chapter 246: A Miracle Will Occur (I)
[Song Recommendation: Lullaby of the New Moon (I): Somnias A Luna.]
Sisi remembered the words that she had to chant so that the miracle would occur. But first, she had to kiss Jojo.
And she decided to kiss him right on his forehead.
She gently swiped the hair on his forehead up, and then planted a soft and loving kiss from a mother to her beloved son.
"Mmm... Mommy..." Jojo murmured in his sleep as he was kissed. There was a faint smile on his lips, as if he could feel the love from his mother.
Sisi giggled seeing how cute Jojo was in his slumber. He was very active and could be somewhat of a proud brat when he was still able to see. Sometimes, he even exaggerated his claims just to show that he was already a big boy and ready to hunt and protect Sisi.
But whenever he fell asleep, he’d turn into a curling ball that wanted nothing but to be cuddled by his loved ones.
Then, Sisi continued with the second part of the ritual. She opened the bamboo container first and saw the water from the Origin Spring was sparkling with gold dust, a sign that it had been blessed by the earth itself.
Sisi smiled and leaned closer to whisper in Jojo’s ear:
"May earth and heaven bless you with their undying love. May you become one with mother nature—pure, untainted, and loved."
"May this water heal you just as I wish to abandon my divinity for you—" Sisi paused for a second before muttering Jojo’s real name:
"Sael, the Dawn Star."
Sisi opened Jojo’s mouth slightly and slowly poured the water into his mouth. Jojo drank the water subconsciously. Since he was in the safe hands of his mother, all the teachings from his father about staying alert even when asleep went out of the window.
Sisi made sure that Jojo drank at least half of the water in the bamboo container, and then gently poured the remaining water onto his face.
She made sure to wash Jojo’s eyelids and let the water get absorbed into his eyes as well.
Once the container had been emptied, she gave Jojo a last kiss at the corner of his eye and whispered, "My dearest son, I’ve given up my immortality and divinity to save you from everlasting pain. You shall not be harmed by your own curse in the future. May you lead a prosperous and joyous life, just as we—your mother and father—wished."
Right after Sisi finished the ritual, her body suddenly jolted. She held her breath as she felt that her heart had been clenched from the inside, as if it could be crushed at any moment and kill her.
But she endured by biting her lip until it bled. She didn’t want to make a noise that would alert Kael or cause Jojo to wake up.
She closed her eyes and told herself, ’It’s nothing compared to Jojo’s happiness. I will endure even death to give him a happy life!’
But the pain persisted, and when she opened her eyes again, her pupils had turned violet.
The earth began to rumble as if it was angry that its darling had given up her divinity for a cursed being, and Kael was alarmed instantly.
He had been staring at the hut from afar the whole time, anxiously waiting for Sisi to come out.
But when the earthquake happened, he rushed towards the hut, ignoring the previous warning from Sisi.
"Sisi! Jojo!" Kael was about to reach the hut when an extremely bright light, akin to the sun, suddenly came out from the hut, blinding him.
On top of that, a mysterious force suddenly pushed him away from the center of the light, and no matter how much he tried to get up and find his son and beloved, he couldn’t move as he got pinned down by this invisible force.
"No... Arrggghhh! Sisi! Jojo!" Kael yelled at the top of his lungs. He couldn’t even shift into his beast form right now, as if the sun had truly suppressed him while the miracle was happening inside the small hut.
Meanwhile, Sisi was still enduring the pain in her body. Aside from her heart being gripped from the inside, she could feel like her entire body was burning inside and out.
The headache was too powerful that she felt her head had been hammered nonstop, to the point that everything became a blur.
Sisi really thought that she would’ve died here, and maybe...
Just maybe...
That was for the best.
She spent her entire life as a nobody and had never been wanted by anyone except by perverts like Mr. Piker.
She had no goal in life until Jojo came into her life and became her sole focus. So if she had to sacrifice herself for Jojo’s happiness, then she wouldn’t mind at all.
However, she did have a little regret... about Kael.
In the midst of her life-and-death situation, his face became so clear—his smile, frown, and the tenderness in his eyes.
When Kael gave her a ring, her heart was finally settled to fall in love with the Dusk Star. And though she knew they weren’t meant to be together, she regretted not spending a little more time with him.
And she also regretted not kissing him more.
She wanted more of him, a little closer and closer until they could become one...
Sisi began closing her eyes as the pain was too much to bear. However, right when she was about to shut her eyes completely, a blinding light suddenly came from Jojo’s body, and the warmth began enveloping Sisi, giving her strength to stay awake and also lessening the pain in her body.
Gradually, all the pain lessened until it was gone, but they were still covered in Jojo’s light.
Jojo slowly opened his eyes. His pupils were still golden, and Sisi’s heart broke instantly, thinking that the miracle had failed to cure Jojo’s eyes.
However, Jojo continued staring at her with his pair of golden eyes and giggled, "Sisi, why’s your eyes purple again?"
