MMORPG: Rebirth Of The Strongest Assassin-Chapter 88: Deal
It was true. He hadn’t initially planned to sell that information to anyone. But Life wasn’t like the others. She was sharp, and more importantly, trustworthy, or as close as you could get in this kind of environment. And if she was already investing half a million Dollars to delay the public release, then she clearly saw the same potential he did.
She exhaled slowly, weighing the offer. "Tch. I’ll admit... if what you say is true, that kind of head start could be worth it."
"So, are we making a deal?" Yone asked, smiling faintly.
"I’ll take both," she said, folding her arms. "Luxury and super-luxury. Just make sure it’s worth my money."
Yone grinned. "You won’t regret it."
The main reason Yone chose to offer this exclusive intel to Life was simple: there was no conflict of interest between them. Iron Fang, the Guild she belonged to, had its foundation rooted not in Golden Card City but in the capital? That’s not even close to happening right now.
Sooner or later, she would need to shift her operations there to continue growing her power. By extending this goodwill now, Yone was investing in a future favor that could pay off handsomely.
The competition within Golden Card City was bound to intensify. If a major Guild decided to suppress his development while he was knee-deep in critical quests and upgrades, having someone like Life in his corner could serve as a reliable backup. Based on her character, Yone was confident that she would help if the need ever arose.
There was also a secondary, more tactical motivation behind his actions...diversion.
The brightest lights draw the most attention.
Yone understood this better than anyone. As the first player to reach Golden Card City and make such bold moves, he had already painted a target on his back. By allowing someone else, specifically someone as capable and high-profile as Life, to temporarily take center stage, he could shift some of that spotlight away from himself.
The major Guilds would inevitably shift their focus to her, easing the pressure on him for the time being.
Two birds with one stone. All that remained was Life’s decision.
After several seconds of silence on the line, she finally exhaled and said, "Alright. I’ll buy it. When can you deliver?"
"In thirty minutes," Yone confirmed with no hesitation.
"Good. I’ll send the funds then," she said before ending the call.
Standing nearby, her father had overheard the entire conversation. He frowned, clearly displeased. "Daughter, I don’t mean to question your decision, but... Even if Requiem is a top-tier expert, how much useful information could he have possibly gathered in just a few hours? And now he wants half a million Dollars for it? That’s daylight robbery. He’s clearly just trying to take advantage of us."
Life sighed, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Let’s not jump to conclusions, Father. We’ll look it over before making any judgments. If there’s valuable information, then it’s not a loss. If not... then we’ll reconsider how we deal with him going forward."
"Also, you gave me this position and entrusted me with your guild, and trust me when I tell you going against him is really bad, we have to partner at all costs!" She said as she looked at her father’s expression, which seemed downcast.
"Father, are you alright?" She worriedly asked, kissing the back of his hand.
The players around them didn’t react as they knew the relationship between the daughter and father in private was so close; only on the outside did Life act like a stubborn child, but alone and in front of trusted people, she was what every father wished his daughter to be like.
"I’m all right," Dreven patted her head and continued," It’s just that I’m going to Legends and I don’t even want to, but because of your mother’s situation..."
Dreven didn’t continue talking as his eyes turned red as if he was about to cry.
"Don’t worry, Father, I promise I’ll one day get us out of that trouble. Please don’t burden yourself with all of it. I’m also here to help you," She reassured, her eyes shaking from fear.
Her father pinched her cheeks," You little angel, you grew up, huh? Well, just keep in mind that it wasn’t my decision that I attacked Requiem; it was that Serina and her supporters forced my hand."
"It seems like he knows that, which is why he agreed to partner with you and sell the guide, so I’m glad he is a smart man," Dreven looked at her and smirked," But your thoughts, keep them to yourself or else..."
Life’s face turned red and immediately waved her hand in a hurry," It’s not what you think, Dad, this is just for the guild, I swear."
"Sure, sure, hahaha," Her father laughed, and her friends around her also laughed.
They obviously didn’t believe her, and that left Life helpless about the situation and just turned a blind eye to it and went to get ready for their next grinding session.
Meanwhile, Yone struck a similar deal with Anonymous from White Wings. However, he didn’t offer him the super-luxury version. White Wings had its main presence stationed in Golden Card City. Giving them too much of a head start might hurt Yone’s own future plans in the region.
Still, Yone valued his old friendship with Anonymous. Selling him early access to the luxury guidebook was a show of trust, and Anonymous understood the gesture perfectly.
Deeply moved by Yone’s consideration, Anonymous didn’t just pay the guide’s base price. He added another 50,000 Dollars as a personal token of thanks.
Armed with this insider knowledge of Golden Card City, Anomyous finally had the leverage he needed to lobby his Guild’s upper management.
With solid intelligence, he could now push to start actively suppressing the higher-ranked guild’s foothold in the city, leaving the aggressive Guilds too busy to interfere with Yone’s movements.
