MMORPG: Rebirth Of The Strongest Assassin-Chapter 85: Weapon that Moved Mountains to Pay for!
Nora’s eyes locked onto the flame-red crystal in Yone’s hand like a cat spotting a dangling ribbon. Her earlier indifference vanished; now, her gaze trailed the crystal with hungry fascination.
Rare forging materials were a weakness even for someone as aloof as Nora.
All forgers shared one obsession: to craft something epic and beyond that, even, an artifact that would reverberate across the world. But to make such a thing, you needed extraordinary materials. The True Ice Dagger, for instance, had gained its fearsome reputation thanks to the Mermaid’s Core, its core component.
And the Mermaid’s King? That monster wasn’t just powerful, it was a force of nature. A single wave of his hand from it could wipe out a city. Its very presence warped reality. Forging a weapon from its core wasn’t just rare, it bordered on myth. Yet the result, the True Ice Dagger, became the ninety-ninth strongest weapon in Eclipse Online, its power feared even centuries later.
"Would you consider selling that crystal?" Nora asked at last, her voice soft but intense.
Yone didn’t hesitate. He shook his head. "I’m afraid not. Lord Chester asked me to bring it to you for a custom commission. But if you’re too busy, I’ll find Master Han instead. I hear he’s available."
"What? That old relic?" Nora’s eyes widened. "You’d seriously hand a material like this to Han? He’d butcher it! If you want something forged, I’ll do it. And since you’re an Assassin, I could probably shape this into a high-grade Raging Flame. But hand it to that fossil, and you might as well toss it in a furnace!"
Nora stared at Yone with her almond-shaped eyes, her hands on her hips; she looked like an angry lioness. This scene dumbfounded Yone; he did not know what to say in this situation.
Before, Nora simply reacted with cold indifference towards him, yet now, she was so obedient?
The Raging Flame was a weapon that only Nora knew how to create, and it was also her most famous creation. It was a weapon that all Assassins dreamt of having.
In Yone’s previous life, as long as one was an Assassin, they would have a hundred percent have begged Nora at least once in their life to create such a weapon for them. In fact, many billionaires and even the trillionaires that never showed themselves to the public made an appearance, shocking the whole world.
They went as far as promising the player who placed his hand on such a weapon anything they wanted as long as whatever they asked for was reasonable enough.
Even Yone had wished to have such a weapon, but given his low status, he was left in the dust and never managed to obtain it. Only a few people managed to do so, and their fame kept rising from that point onwards.
Although Yone had already achieved his goal, he couldn’t resist stringing Nora along a little longer. He pretended to hesitate, and sure enough, panic flickered in Nora’s eyes. The idea of that old fossil Han getting his hands on such a massive Starfire Crystal was more than she could stand, especially if he came around later just to brag about it.
"You realize I’m the best Master Forger in Golden Card City, right?" Nora said quickly, her voice rising. "I don’t make average gear; every piece I forge is a cut above. And lucky for you, I’m in a very good mood today. I’ll even throw in a rare material from my personal stash to forge a Raging Flame tailored for you!"
Before Yone could say a word, she grabbed his arm and dragged him into her smithy. "Come on, see for yourself!"
The contrast was stark. From the outside, her smithy looked like a rundown, forgotten shop. But the interior was a different world entirely, polished floors, glowing crystals embedded in the walls, and rows of display cabinets holding finely-crafted weapons and armor.
Every item on display was at least Gold rank. And more than just high-tier, these were top-quality; each piece boasted superior Attributes compared to other gear of the same level and rarity.
Nora crossed her arms proudly and pointed to the top shelf. "See that dark-red greatsword? That’s my work. A Rare Weapon. One of a kind."
Yone’s eyes narrowed as he examined the blade. It was a Level 120 Rare Weapon, and its stats far outclassed anything he had seen in his past life. Yone felt goosebumps spread all over his body just from gazing at it.
’Truly a fearsome weapon, no wonder this weapon is sought after by everyone.’ Yone shook his head and darted his eyes towards Nora. The more he looked at the woman, the more he knew why everyone wanted her to forge their items in real life.
In fact, such an occurrence was simple and even he, in his past life, was one of those people, but although he knew her, his strength, components, and weapons that he could bring and provide for her were never enough; hence, she never treated him in such a way before.
If anyone were to see this scene right now, and Nora’s eyes lighting up each time she looked at Yone’s amazed face, they would kill him to death and demand an explanation afterwards. Her fame reached such a level!
Yone obviously would not reject her offer, but he suddenly recalled something as he asked," Do you know of anyone called Kael Durnforge. He is a forger of the Golden Gate Kingdom."
Bam!
Suddenly, Yone heard a loud sound coming from beneath Nora’s feet, and when he looked, the whole floor under her had turned into lava, and the entire house was shaking.
"Nora, Nora, wake up!" Yone kept yelling as the woman seemed to enter a state of unconsciousness, not hearing any sound around her or seeing a thing.
Finding no other way to wake her up, Yone slapped her and took several steps back, fearful that the woman might slap him to death out of rage.
Haaaaah
Nora took a deep breath after Yone’s slap as if she hadn’t breathed for the past several seconds, her face shaken and pale, and her hands shaking before she dropped to the ground on her knees.
She looked at Yone with hesitation as she hardly uttered," Who...who did you just mention?"
Yone didn’t know whether to say the name again or not, but thinking it over for a moment, he just did as told and was about to utter it when Nora waved her hand hurriedly.
"No, stop, don’t say the name, I got it already." Placing her hands on the floor and helping herself stand up, Nora looked at her feet and sighed. With a wave of her hand, the floor became clean again, and no lava could be seen anymore; it was as if everything was merely an illusion created by Yone’s eyes.
’This is not normal,’ Yone could recognize the symptoms were going for as he also went through a while ago,’ That’s fear, and not just any fear. It’s a deep-rooted fear.’
"You might be shocked, right? You are probably asking what just happened with me?" Nora said before she took a seat on her red sofa, her heart beating a bit faster, and her face still pale.
Yone nodded absent-mindedly; he truly didn’t know what could garner such a reaction from such a forger.
Nora had earned her reputation as a genius in the forging world thanks to a stroke of luck, she had accidentally crafted a Rare Weapon. For any forger, let alone a Master Forger, that was nearly unheard of. The odds were simply too low. Normally, only Grandmaster Forgers could pull off such a feat with any consistency.
But despite her talent, Nora had hit a bottleneck. She was perpetually one step short of ascending to Grandmaster status. That frustration, coupled with her obsession with perfecting her craft, was why she secluded herself in the Free Zone of Golden Card City, away from distractions, away from noise, fully immersed in her research.
This is why Yone found no reasons for her feat, he felt that such a woman feared nothing, and her reputation was evident for that. Yet, here she was, shaking to death and almost destroying her house.
If not for the fact that he knew who she was, he would have assumed that she was a madwoman who had a trauma from a certain accident. But Yone, knowing better, he knew that it must be related to the name he had just uttered.
’Overseer Rakan, what the hell did you get me into?!’ Yone yelled inwardly, but from the outside, his face was just full of surprise and questions written all over it.
" I know that you are looking for answers, but I’ll need some time to think about this." Nora said outright," I don’t know who gave you such a name, but all I can say is that I’ll try my best to calm down before I speak, or else I might hurt you. Come back tomorrow, please."
Seeing the emptiness and fear in her eyes, Yone could only nod and leave the house,’ Rakan, you not trying to cripple my account aren’t you?’ He cursed inwardly as he left the house and headed towards his next destination.
The market!
