Chapter 253: A Straightforward Strategy

"Alright, let’s get into the details of the plan for tomorrow."

Fury cleared her throat and began, "As you know, the first day and second days are the easiest. But don’t let your guard down because, after that day, the real game begins.

"So here’s the plan: all of you will conserve your HP, MP, and items. I alone will handle the skeleton swarm on the first day and the undead on the second."

"Eh? You alone?"

"Isn’t that dangerous?"

"Don’t get me wrong, you’re strong, but taking them alone seems reckless."

Voices of concern and protest started to fill the air while Xin observed the unfolding situation.

"SILENCE!"

Fury’s voice resounded in their ears, resembling the thunderous roar of a dragon.

Xin, like the others, was momentarily stunned by the impact of some kind of passive skill that seemed to silence them all.

The silence hung for a moment before Fury continued,

"Just as I was saying. None of you will fight until the third day. This is to ensure that you remain at your optimum health for the real battle."

"But . . ."

"I’m not being reckless here. In fact, I am serious. I’ve never been this serious in my entire life," Fury continued with a solemn expression.

"It’s the leader, Ragnarok’s decision," Fighting Bunny interjected.

Fury gave Fighting Bunny the dead stare. "Can you not ruin my moment?"

"Anyway, for tomorrow and the second day’s fight, it will be just the guild leaders fighting, while the healers support them," Fighting Bunny further explained. "This is to ensure minimum casualties and preservation of our resources. What’s more, the healers can focus on just four players, too."

The others exchanged uncertain glances, and some still weren’t convinced.

"I don’t think that’s a good idea," one player voiced his concerns.

Fury stepped forward, her imposing figure making the player who spoke almost shiver on his knees.

She crossed her arms and challenged him. "Pray tell, why do you think it’s not a good idea?"

The player looked to the side, stammering a little, "Well . . . what if you die out there? Losing the leaders early would be disastrous in this battle war."

Xin couldn’t blame him for stuttering and quivering on his toes. Fury’s tall and imposing figure was truly intimidating; even top solo players might find it challenging to meet her gaze.

Fury’s slit eyes burned crimson. "That won’t happen." She then grinned and pointed at herself. "Because I’m strong."

Silence lingered in the air, and the players could only gape at her confidence.

"I-is . . . is that so?"

Fury was full of unwavering confidence, Xin had to give her that.

Fighting Bunny sighed, shoving Fury aside. "Right, right.

That’s enough of that. Anyway, that’s the order from the top, so all of you should just trust the leaders and minimize the use of your resources. Trust me, you’ll need every bit of it on the third day and onwards."

"As of the moment, that’s the strategy. Simple and clear. The real strategy meeting will commence on the second night when we’re about to fight the third-day monsters. If you don’t have any questions, then this meeting is adjourned.

"You can stay in the town hall or inns. It’ll only cost you a little gil. You can also roam around, but make sure that you’ve rested and are prepared for tomorrow."

With that, the meeting ended, and the rest dispersed.

Xin scratched his head. The strategy for the first and second days was so simple that all he had to do was sit back and relax while the leaders dealt with the swarms.

He understood the need to save resources and keep everything simple, but . . . was this alright?

Anyway, he had more pressing matters to think about.

The [Mirage Mimicry Elixir] would soon lose its effect after 24 hours, and if there was no chaos in the battle, how could he gave the excuse the John and Brody got killed in the fight that’s why they were absent the next day?

The original plan was for John and Brody to die on the first day, then steal another body in the fray and assume their identity using the elixir, but now . . .

Xin crossed his hands and thought deeply. He was in a dilemma.

He then sighed and let it be.

"I’ll cross the bridge when I get there," he thought.

He could only hope that no one would suspect John and Brody’s disappearance on the second day. Getting another two identities wouldn’t be a challenge with Hilda around, so Xin wasn’t worried about that.

Deciding to go where Hilda was, he found her in the Tank unit. There seemed to be only one group of them, with fewer numbers compared to the damage dealers and mages. Xin took note of the composition.

"Ah, Lord—I mean, John," Hilda greeted and asked, "Is your meeting over?"

Xin nodded and glanced over the group. It seemed their meeting wasn’t over yet.

"I’ll be just over there then," Xin said, pointing to a nearby restaurant. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Hilda nodded. "I’ll be right there after I’m done here."

Xin then entered the restaurant and ordered some food. Though he wasn’t hungry, it was customary for him to order something, especially when he went inside a café or restaurant. He didn’t let go of that habit, even in the virtual world.

While waiting for a seat by the window, Xin noticed that many players entered the restaurant after every passing minute.

Looks like their meeting had already ended.

Soon, the restaurant was full, and Xin was relieved that their meeting had concluded early, and he had secured his seat. Apparently, there wasn’t much to discuss due to their straightforward strategy.

Observing the crowd, Xin realized that everyone seemed to know everybody, leaving him quickly feeling like the odd man out.

Xin noticed that Fighting Bunny entered as well, looking troubled when she found that there was no place to sit.

Despite his attempt to avoid eye contact, she spotted him and approached, beaming.

"Hey, John, right? We’re in the same group, remember."

Xin took a deep breath and sighed inwardly. He mustered a smile and offered, "Yeah. Do you want to share the table?"
