Chapter 245: A Confrontation

As the days drifted away like autumn leaves preparing for winter, Halloween loomed just around the corner.

With only a month left until the final project completion, Xin dedicated his weekends to double-time on his plates and projects.

The looming exams and the approaching main project auction demanded his focused attention.

In a rare moment of solitude, Xin found himself at a café, taking a break from his hectic schedule.

He and Victor had planned to meet up and work on their projects together, but an unexpected Guildbane meeting had kept him away from their usual spot.

Victor was deeply engrossed in Guildbane as they approached the Castle of Doom raid, and had become too busy for their usual collaborations.

Observing Victor’s tight schedule, Xin pondered if he could even finish on time.

Maybe he could lend a hand to ensure they both met their project deadlines.

Xin went back to work when without warning, a striking young man entered the café, accompanied by a discreet bodyguard.

The man adorned an impeccably tailored white suit that whispered luxury and sophistication. Every stitch seemed to be a testament to the craftsmanship of a master tailor.

The fabric clung to his form in a way that exuded elegance, accentuating his well-defined physique. The suit’s crispness and the subtle sheen of the material hinted at a level of opulence that transcended mere fashion.

His entrance into the café was nothing short of commanding. The room seemed to pause in collective acknowledgment of his presence. Heads turned, and conversations hushed as his aura effortlessly seized attention.

It was as if he had walked straight out of the pages of a high-end fashion magazine, a living embodiment of refined taste and stature.

However, Xin was already used to people like him because of Seraphina.

In fact, it became just a normal occurrence to him right now.

When the man removed his sunglasses, the girls in the café couldn’t help but be captivated by the revelation of his handsome face.

His carefully chiseled features. His amethyst eyes, drew others into their magnetic gaze. The air around him seemed to shimmer with an unspoken allure that left an indelible mark on the atmosphere.

As he casually ruffled his hair, a gesture that might have seemed casual on anyone else took on an almost cinematic quality on him.

Each strand seemed to fall back into place with calculated precision, as if every movement were a carefully choreographed part of his charm.

A radiant smile illuminated his face as he turned his attention to Xin.

"Xin, right?" he inquired with a voice that resonated with confidence.

"Who are you?" Xin asked with his usual expression of lethargy.

The man chuckled slightly and introduced himself, "I’m sorry. My name is Nathaniel Thornebridge. I’m Seraphina’s fiancé."

". . . Is that so?" Xin responded, oblivious to the fact that he and Seraphina were supposed to be dating.

Nathaniel’s attention was caught by Xin’s nonchalant attitude, and it irked him. Did Xin believe he wasn’t a threat? That’s why he wasn’t bothered?

Shouldn’t it be another way around? He specifically met him to make him feel that way. Not the other way around!

"I’m sure you’ve probably heard about me from Seraphina."

"Nope. She doesn’t mention you," Xin said, straight to the point.

A sharp pain shot through Nathaniel, and he groaned inwardly, but he maintained his composure. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

How could Xin be this calm when talking to him? He seemed unfazed by the gold, diamonds, and branded clothes adorning his body.

"Do you need something from me?" Xin asked when Nathaniel showed no intention of leaving. "If you’re looking for Seraphina, she isn’t here."

Nathaniel found himself bewildered by Xin’s nonchalant mention of Seraphina’s name, a stark contrast to the dreamy expressions others typically wore when her name was uttered.

"May I?" Nathaniel gestured to the seat opposite Xin.

When Xin nodded, Nathaniel took a seat, fixing a serious gaze on him.

"I heard that my fiancée is dating you, and I’m here to confirm if that rumor is true."

Xin paused, it was only when he was reminded about his fake relationship with Seraphina.

He studied Nathaniel carefully. Since Seraphina hadn’t mentioned this man’s name even once, it could be another admirer making baseless claims, so Xin opted to keep his mouth shut.

"I guess the rumors are indeed true," Nathaniel said, his eyes lingering on the watch adorning Xin’s wrist. "No offense, but you couldn’t possibly afford that custom-made watch. Just that watch alone, and you could already afford one unit in Diamond’s Palace."

Xin’s expression remained stoic, but a heavy weight settled on his heart.

Unbeknownst to him, he had been casually wearing millions of dollars on his wrist all this time!

While he anticipated the watch’s expense, the reality surpassed his assumptions.

Xin was now bothered by the thought of navigating public spaces, fearing the watch might get stolen, and the looming burden of owing Seraphina big time.

Of course, Xin knew that returning the watch was part of the deal once their charade came to an end, but the weight of this exquisite timepiece was something that Seraphina had willingly placed on his wrist.

He couldn’t help but wonder if she had any concern about him misplacing or damaging such an expensive item.

"So it’s true. You two are really dating," Nathaniel stated, leaning back and misunderstanding Xin’s silence as confirmation.

Xin remained silent, choosing not to refute the assumption, especially when he didn’t know the man sitting across from him.

"If you and Seraphina are engaged, then it’s probably best to ask her yourself," Xin suggested, internally congratulating himself on a job well done for passing the problem onto Seraphina’s shoulder.

The corners of Nathaniel’s lips curled upward. "Seraphina and I both have busy schedules. Which reminds me . . . I have to go and attend an important meeting."

Nathaniel rose to his feet, adjusting his lapel. "Anyway, I’m just here to check on the guy that Seraphina is dating. Nothing more."
