MMORPG: I was BUGGED-Chapter 236: The Sea Elf’s Last Stand
"You have at least a minute, Lord Schrödinger!" Elysia called out, her voice echoing with urgency.
Xin didn’t like the sound of that. He knew that Elysia couldn’t stay long in this dimension, but he had hoped she could easily defeat the vampire lord with a single strike, ending this ordeal swiftly, just like what she had done in the past.
His wishful thinking had been shattered, replaced by the harsh reality that this battle was far from being simple.
As Xin was close to the ice encasing the vampire queen, a sudden eruption of force shook the chamber.
Lord Valerian emerged from the rubble of ice with a feral cry. "Stay away from her!" he roared, his eyes ablaze with possessive fury.
In a swift response, Elysia parried the vampire lord’s advance with a wall of ravaging water. The force of the water crashed against Valerian, sending him stumbling backward again, his rage-filled cries drowned by the roaring waves.
"Your opponent is me," Elysia declared, her voice cutting through the air like a whip.
"Begone, you ugly sea elf!" Lord Valerian hissed.
"Ugly?" A vein popped on Elysia’s forehead, her anger boiling over like a tempest. "I don’t want to hear that from a dead, rotting wannabe vampire lord!"
Their clash was a spectacle of elemental fury. Elysia manipulated the water with unmatched precision. She conjured torrents that swirled and surged, creating a barrier of liquid force between her and the enraged vampire lord.
Lord Valerian relied on his speed and skills. His attacks were a whirlwind of desperate strikes, though deadly against players like Xin, it was no use against someone like Elysia.
Amidst the chaotic clash between Elysia and Lord Valerian, Xin found himself embroiled in his own battle of wits. His mind raced as he desperately sought a way to shatter the formidable ice imprisoning the vampire queen. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Initially, he commanded whatever remained of his Golems to break the ice, but to his dismay, the crystal proved far more resilient than he had anticipated.
Devoid of any visible HP, it seemed indestructible, defying his attempts to break it down.
Frustration gnawed at Xin as he placed his hands over the icy surface, squinting to catch a glimpse of the child within. She appeared to be peacefully sleeping, her features obscured by the frosty veil.
Panic set in as time slipped away. Thirty seconds had passed, and each moment he dallied brought them closer to failure.
There was no more room for hesitation.
In his desperation, a spark of inspiration struck him. His mind raced through his inventory, searching frantically for a solution.
And then, he found it –– the [Reverie Reversal Fungus].
With trembling hands, Xin grasped the item, his heart pounding in his chest.
Good thing that he hadn’t auctioned or used it as a material for his Golems.
Like an idiot, Xin held the fungus in front of the sleeping girl. His breath caught in his throat as he prayed for it to work, hoping against hope that it would awaken her from her slumber before the time was up.
Xin stood frozen, paralyzed with uncertainty, as the seconds ticked away, reaching a minute, and yet the girl remained unmoved, trapped in her icy prison.
"Lord Schrödinger!" Elysia’s voice, laced with worry, snapped him back to reality just before she unleashed a mighty blast of water magic.
The water spell had a power that seemed boundless. The energy surged around her, forming into a torrential wave that glistened with a mesmerizing aquamarine glow. The air sizzled with energy as she channeled the vast elemental forces at her command.
In an instant, the raging wave crashed upon Lord Valerian, enveloping him in its relentless grasp. The water seemed to come alive, each droplet charged with potent magic.
As the wave surged, it struck the vampire lord with an incredible force, shattering his body into pieces.
The impact was cataclysmic.
Lord Valerian’s form disintegrated under the onslaught, his limbs torn asunder, and his once formidable figure reduced to nothing more than scattered fragments.
The chamber echoed with the sound of the destruction, a symphony of power that resonated through the air.
In the midst of the chaos, Xin watched as the vampire lord’s body succumbed to the onslaught of Elysia’s magic. The water engulfed Valerian, tearing him apart piece by piece until nothing remained but liquid red blood that slowly came together to piece him back again.
Elysia had bought precious moments before she disappeared.
The chamber, once filled with the intensity of battle, now fell into an eerie silence. The sea elf had disappeared, her time in this dimension exhausted, leaving Xin alone with the remnants of the vampire lord.
For a moment, Xin stood there, catching his breath, appreciating Elysia’s effort and her buying him more time.
Without wasting another second, Xin turned his attention back to the crystal, his mind racing as he sought a way to set the vampire queen free and end this nightmare once and for all.
"It’s futile," the vampire lord laughed triumphantly, his body still in the process of regenerating. "You’re all alone now, and victory is mine."
Amidst the chaos and despair, Xin’s mind was oddly clear, a lucidity that came with acceptance. He knew he was already defeated, but something inside him refused to surrender completely.
The weight of his mistakes bore down on him — his tendency to rely too heavily on Elysia, overlooking the limits of her power and the rules imposed by the system.
It was a harsh lesson, one he vowed never to forget.
For a fleeting moment, he tore his gaze away from the girl trapped in the ice, his focus shifting to the vampire lord who stood proudly, reveling in his impending triumph.
Xin readied himself for the final strike. It was a long journey, but he didn’t regret anything.
The attack came swiftly, the vampire lord’s movements a blur that Xin’s eyes struggled to follow. He found himself immobilized, a sitting duck for the vampire to feast upon.
His golems, in a futile attempt to save him, moved desperately, their efforts a stark contrast to the overwhelming power of the vampire.
Just as the vampire lord was about to deliver the fatal blow, a brilliant crimson light burst forth from the crystal and time seemed to stop.
