MMORPG: Divine Mech Hunter-Chapter 440 - : The Second Phase
Chapter 440: Chapter 440: The Second Phase
This was a pretty grand event, but Li Yao didn’t seem to care much. After being teleported to the field, Li Yao began observing the surrounding environment.
On Li Yao’s side, nothing was out of the ordinary—just moving straw men. However, instead of appearing one by one as before, they now appeared in pairs.
On the other side, inside a cave filled with jagged rocks, a dinosaur and a griffin were each confined in separate cages.
However, this time those held in the cages were not any leaders but two Silver Elites.
An ogre had already prepared a spit and bonfire on a slanted rock face. Afterward, his eyes rested on the pair caged.
All three creatures were of level twenty. But those caged were two twenty-level Silver Elites, while the ogre was a twenty-level Junior Chieftain.
“System: The player, ‘Prairie Fire’, is about to start the second level of the trial. Players may take over the control of the two Silver Elites at any time. The ogre tends to play with his prey before roasting it at the barbecue. Your mission is to control the two Silver Elites, cooperate with each other, and get to a safe place. The countdown starts: 15, 14, 13, 12, …”
Li Yao immediately took control of the two Silver Elites. In his previous life, he has faced similar tests, making it quite challenging.
After all, the difference between the HP of the two Silver Elites and the boss was substantial. Even though the Silver Elites were considered akin to boss-level beings, compared to creatures of the same level, they lacked by at least half in terms of HP and armor.
The gap was even wider concerning the attack. The amount of damage players could inflict on a boss was insignificant to bosses. But one boss attack could instantly eliminate a player.
Although the gap between the Silver Elites and the leader wasn’t as exaggerated, a few hits could easily be fatal.
Therefore, the trial requirements were not to receive too much damage and shocks. It was not difficult for Li Yao to escape and reach safety, but if he wanted higher scores, he must kill the ogre.
Even though the system didn’t mention it, it was indeed a task of judgment and choice.
“There’s one that isn’t a beast? What’s happening?” Li Yao didn’t have time to ponder these things. He quickly checked the skills of the two Silver Elites.
The velociraptor was a typical agile assassin with a role quite similar to the rogue class, while the griffin, although also having a high damage output, specialized in assisting and controlling, with favorable buffs.
The velociraptor’s leap, bite, and run were very agile, and it could make use of the complex terrain here.
The griffin had ball lightning and lightning totem for attacks. It also had the Hurricane spell and speed buffs, as well as a Magic Shield protection skill. Importantly, it could fly.
However, the exit had already been blocked by wooden fences. Escaping wasn’t as easy as it looked—both pets had to cooperate.
But Li Yao didn’t consider fleeing at all. To kill the ogre, he would need to cooperate even more.
It was a typical ogre with two heads. The ragged and crude mage robe it was wearing indicated that the ogre was a magician that excelled in shadow magic.
As the countdown ended, the Straw Men began moving.
At the same moment, the ogre had already opened the two cages, drooling as it said in a coarse voice, “You’re still hopping around, my food. Now, I’m giving you a chance. Escape and you won’t become my dinner.”
Li Yao, watching the slowly retreating ogre, didn’t move to attack. It wasn’t a wise move to act rashly without the power to defeat him instantly.
After all, if he got hit even once, his skin would at least get peeled off.
Li Yao commanded the griffin to float to the back of a bizarre stone while the velociraptor began slowly pacing along the cave’s edge, looking for opportunities.
The griffin then started casting the Ball Lightning spell. The ogre noticed this, one of its heads fixed on the griffin, and its hands also started to glow with a gloomy light. It started attacking as well, and its target was the griffin.
Bam…
The ball lightning pounded on the ogre, who quickly recited a spell. A shadow arrow was about to leave his hand.
Just at that moment, the velociraptor jumped fiercely, scratching out a few streaks of blood with its front claws while its jaws bit down on the ogre’s arm.
The ogre’s shadow arrow was launched as well, but it obviously deviated due to the velociraptor’s bite. The griffin didn’t need to move— the shadow arrow flew past its ears without harming a feather.
Meanwhile, the griffin lifted its hand, and a ray of light from the ball lightning fell onto the velociraptor. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com
“Damn bugs, your resistance is futile.” The ogre stomped on the ground, and a series of cracks began to spread. Simultaneously, a green shockwave was shot out.
But the velociraptor, under the griffin’s buff, had already jumped out when the ogre stomped the ground. It looked as if the shockwave had blasted the velociraptor away.
But in fact, the velociraptor wasn’t affected by the shockwave at all. It didn’t suffer any damage. The shockwave spread over a dozen yards before disappearing, while the velociraptor landed on the ground.
The griffin hit once and the velociraptor attacked twice, directly taking away one-fortieth of the ogre’s HP, while the two Silver Elites didn’t suffer any damage.
“Impressive, this inheritor of yours is pretty good. Even when commanding two creatures during the second stage, his archery is still elegant. And looking at his relaxed expression, it seems the general has taught him well.” The Chieftain’s eyes glowed as he watched Li Yao’s performance.
“He is quite a promising talent after all.” The queen didn’t hide her pride.
The leader of the Light Faction, the King, snorted, “Indeed, he’s quite skilled. No wonder he was blessed by the Beast God. But it’s just the beginning. Moreover, this rookie is too reckless, intending to kill a Chieftain with just two Silver Elites. It’s simply a path to self-destruction.”
Their insight was sharp indeed. They saw Li Yao’s plan at a glance.
Li Yao began to tease the ogre, still using the same tactics— one side drawing the ogre’s aggro while the other tried to interrupt the ogre’s spells.
Under this tactic, whether it was the ogre’s area attack or single-target spell, they couldn’t touch a hair of the two Silver Elites.
“Damn it, I’m already hungry. Come to my barbecue,” the ogre spoke. A glint flickered in one of its eyes, and its hands were raised high. A magical array appeared by his side.
Li Yao’s eyes flashed instantly. He realized the ogre was about to summon his demonic imps.
The griffon began to chant quickly, and the velociraptor jumped onto the ogre’s back, fiercely biting one of its necks. Its claws similarly left behind lines of bloody scratches.
A vague outline appeared in the magic array, filled with chaotic demonic energy. A demon imp wanted to be summoned from the void abyss to the ogre’s side in this world.
Although the imp wasn’t strong, it was still a chieftain. If summoned, the two Silver Elites would definitely be no match…
