Chapter 421: Chapter 421: The Strange Drop

Sister Li was very puzzled. As far as she knew, Li Yao was certainly not adept at gathering resources. Unlike the gathering of ordinary monster beasts, this type of gathering required professional skills, which Li Yao didn’t possess.

However, she knew Li Yao wouldn’t act aimlessly, and seeing the confidence on his face right now, she quickly realized that he must be up to something. Otherwise, he wouldn’t toy with the body of a monster that apparently didn’t yield anything worthwhile.

Even the members of the Leisure Guild were astonished. They had personally spent considerable effort just a while ago and were certain they didn’t leave anything behind.

Seeing Li Yao stepping forward, they actually thought he was going to gather some ores.

“Wow, very impressive indeed. It is truly fitting for the president of Starfire to be so thrifty.”

“Exactly, it’s no wonder he’s the president. He really knows how to save.”

“Look, look, all of you have to learn properly, learn how to become a great guild leader and peerless master.”

Members of the Leisure Guild sneered sarcastically. Even Brother Li was puzzled. He wasn’t in a hurry to leave anymore and decided to see what kind of trick Li Yao was playing.

Li Yao was indifferent to their comments. He walked to the head of the Sea Giant nonchalantly, brandished his ceremonial sword and tapped the skull twice, producing a clear sound.

Speaking seemingly to himself, he said, “I’ve heard that the Sea Giant is a type of Giant and is a creation of the Titans. What wonder what’s inside their heads? Are they mechanical, or like other creatures, filled with flesh and blood?”

Sister Li was speechless. Although she didn’t understand the purpose of Li Yao’s question, she complied, saying, “I guess it’s fleshy. I’ve heard that these Giants are not entirely elemental beings.”

Scratching his chin, Li Yao said, “So, they’re partially elemental creatures, huh? That piques my interest even more.”

“I doubt it would work though, their bodies are too hard to break, especially their skulls. They resemble unyielding diamonds,” Sister Li continued along Li Yao’s line of inquiry.

Li Yao slapped his forehead as if suddenly enlightened and said, “Had you not reminded me, I would have wasted my time.”

The players of the Leisure Guild were utterly confused. They couldn’t follow the conversation between the two, wondered if both of them had gone mad.

In fact, Sister Li was also at a loss. However, noticing the playful grin on Li Yao’s face, she guessed she had said something right.

“What should we do then?” Sister Li asked, still puzzled.

Feigning epiphany, Li Yao said, “Ah, I remember now. Apparently, these elemental beings fear the ancient power of gods the most. Luckily, I have it with me. This leader creature is so peculiar, dropping such scarce items. I must pry open his head to see.”

As he spoke, Li Yao triggered the Life Deprivation spell of the Touch of Darkness. Several black tentacles attached themselves on the forehead of the Sea Giant.

The miscreants of the Leisure Guild were not surprised at all. For the past few days, a piece of sensational news had been making rounds.

The news revolved around Li Yao, claiming that he had been disguised as a dwarf by the Dark Queen and had become a Dwarf Master.

The news further claimed that he had fooled the people of the Light Faction, slaughtering in the underground ruins dressed as an NPC, and ultimately gained the benefits and loot of the ancient god.

Even worse, after safely escaping the Light Faction, he had proudly announced that it was the members of the Light Faction who had averted disaster, leaving the Light Faction in utter embarrassment when the Dark Queen uncovered the truth.

The news had certainly caught player’s attention. An argument had almost started between the higher-ups of the three factions trying to deal with the Centaurs, precisely because of this event.

The incident had caused quite an uproar. As the news spread, many players who had returned from the Ruins started uploading related videos.

Upon hearing this news, War Horizon and Mage of the World were so exasperated they nearly spat blood. They had exposed themselves while trying to protect the pseudo NPC player.

They declared that they had suspected Li Yao from the very beginning, which was why he was excluded and had ultimately deceived them all. They vowed to take revenge on Prairie Fire.

However, the players were not concerned about that. They were curious about how Li Yao, having become an NPC, had managed to fool them all. They knew that just possessing the appearance of a race was not enough to blend in.

Those large guilds paid special attention to this matter. Through their extensive connections, they verified the specifics of the incident. They didn’t know everything but were well aware that Prairie Fire, as a player, had managed to deceive so many NPCs and players, and even obtained treasure from an ancient god.

Just this achievement alone made countless guilds envious and green with jealousy. This also made those guilds even more wary of Li Yao. Many guilds had issued warnings to their members not to provoke Starfire for now, and that any further action would happen after the pioneering period.

This was the exact reason why Brother Li didn’t want to interfere. After all, Li Yao was too mysterious. They had learned from various descriptions that Li Yao had an exceptional fighting strength. Seeing the black tentacles of corrosion didn’t surprise them, and they watched Li Yao with envy. No matter how sarcastic they were, they still felt jealous upon seeing the items of an ancient god.

Snap…

Just as Li Yao was attaching his tendrils to the head of the Sea Giant, two beads suddenly dropped out, shocking the members of the Leisure Guild.

Sister Li quickly picked up the two beads. After looking at their properties, she took a cold breath and said, “These are really good items.”

Li Yao immediately shared the properties of the two beads and while holding one, he said, “Are these the eyeballs of the Sea Giant? It’s strange that they just appeared suddenly. Brother Li, do you know anything about this?”

Brother Li’s initial reaction was that of surprise, followed by immense frustration.

For an Ice Mage, this item was absolutely amazing. For regular players, both the resistance and swimming speed were very useful. What’s more, it didn’t occupy an equipment slot and could function just by being in the backpack.

Hearing Li Yao’s question, Brother Li felt suffocated. He was being asked where this came from, but that was an obvious answer: It was a boss drop.

He had just announced in front of everyone that he wasn’t interested in the Sea Giant’s loot. He couldn’t just go back on his word now. What puzzled him the most was how, despite their extensive excavation efforts, they found nothing. Yet, as soon as Li Yao started, two epic equipments dropped…
