Chapter 123: Violet Blaze Unleashed

Clinging tightly to the back of the Violet Thunderwing Steed, Marcus lowered his gaze.

Below him stretched a vast expanse of emerald-green forest and open grassland, a continuous sea of green that seemed to roll endlessly toward the horizon. From this height, the land looked untouched and pure, as though it had never known war, greed, or decay.

At the very heart of this green world lay a massive blue lake, shaped like a six-pointed star. Its waters were so clear and radiant that they reflected the sunlight like polished crystal, resembling a giant sapphire embedded within the grassland itself. The sight carried an indescribable sense of elegance and quiet nobility, soothing the mind and lifting the spirit almost instantly.

Above the lake and plains, flocks of proud Pegasi soared freely through the sky, joined by groups of large, graceful birds and all manner of strange and exotic flying creatures. On the ground far below, herds of tall, powerful steeds ran unhindered across the fields. The entire scene struck Marcus with overwhelming force, leaving him with the unmistakable feeling that he had entered a realm beyond the mortal world.

"Unbelievable," he breathed out, the wind snatching the words. "It’s actually a paradise."

Seeing such beauty with his own eyes, rather than through a screen or a story, stirred something deep within him, a feeling he had never experienced before.

"Star Lake," Marcus whispered.

A deep sense of wonder washed over him. Dominion was far more than just a game, its realism was almost frightening. It truly felt like a second world for humanity, another place where life could unfold. At that moment, he understood why Dragonfly Corp dared to make such bold claims. Only their technology could create something on this level.

’Dominion, how many secrets are you still hiding? How many more paradises, and how many terrifying realms are waiting to be discovered?’

No wonder Silas the Wanderer had been so obsessed with exploration. Marcus felt his own heart stir with the same restless desire, a growing urge to roam every corner of this world and uncover all of its mysteries.

The Pegasi circling above Star Lake noticed the approaching Violet Thunderwing Steed from a great distance. Almost instantly, they scattered, instinctively making way for it, none daring to show even the slightest hint of disrespect.

Several Pegasi, drawn by the Steed’s overwhelming presence, let out sharp whinnies and began following behind it, willingly acknowledging its authority. To them, the Violet Thunderwing Steed was a natural ruler, a Horse King worthy of submission. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

What surprised Marcus even more was that the leaders of several Pegasus groups abandoned their own positions and fell in line behind the Steed as well. Their respective herds followed without hesitation, accepting the new hierarchy as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

In the blink of an eye, a massive formation of more than eighty Pegasi was flying behind the Steed Marcus rode, and their numbers were still steadily increasing.

It was painfully obvious that the Violet Thunderwing Steed possessed extraordinary attributes and an exceptionally high rank. Among herd creatures, strength defined authority, and for beings like these, the strongest was king.

"Ding! Stonehaven, your Taming skill has failed."

"Ding! Stonehaven, your Taming skill has failed."

The system notifications echoed relentlessly.

High above the breathtaking landscape of Star Lake, Marcus and the Violet Thunderwing Steed were locked in a fierce and exhausting struggle, man and beast pitted against each other.

His attempts at Taming continued to fail without exception. ’Is the success rate really zero when the level gap between the player and the mount is too large?’ The thought gnawed at him, frustration slowly creeping in as doubt began to take hold.

The battle between them had already reached an intense stalemate. The enraged Steed had carried Marcus through the skies for nearly half an hour, yet it showed no signs of fatigue. Its strength and stamina seemed endless, its movements still sharp and full of vitality. Meanwhile, Marcus’s Taming attempts yielded nothing but failure, and the constant system prompts were starting to blur together, making his head ache.

Then things took an unsettling turn.

After entering the domain of Star Lake, the Violet Thunderwing Steed gradually began to calm down. Its furious thrashing subsided, its flight slowing as it stopped performing wild spins and violent aerial maneuvers.

Marcus’s heartbeat quickened.

He did not believe for a second that the Steed was surrendering. This is the calm before the storm. Whatever it was planning next, it would not be simple.

"Hiss..."

As if to confirm his fears, the Steed suddenly reared up in midair, its powerful forelegs lifting high as it released a long, piercing cry. Its entire body tensed, clearly preparing for a decisive move.

Marcus tightened his grip around the Steed’s neck, pressing himself flat against its back. No matter what happened next, he refused to let go. As far as he was concerned, this was the safest place to be, and he would cling to it with everything he had.

No matter how powerful the Violet Thunderwing Steed was, it couldn’t bite its own back, could it?

It couldn’t smash its own back with its hooves, could it?

And it certainly couldn’t flip itself upside down in midair, could it?

Marcus refused to let go.

It was a dirty tactic, something closer to a rogue’s mindset than a knight’s pride, but at this altitude, pride meant nothing. Letting go meant falling, and falling meant death. He had no intention of experiencing the sensation of freefall from the sky, not now, not ever.

"Oh, come on," Marcus muttered, his eyes wide as adrenaline surged through him. "You’ve got to be kidding me. This is insane."

The Steed did not perform the extreme maneuvers Marcus had feared, but as it reared up and released a piercing whinny, the white lightning symbol etched into its forehead began to glow, slowly shifting into a deep, ominous purple.

In the next instant, the blue sky above them twisted violently.

A massive bolt of Purple Celestial Lightning tore through the heavens, forming directly above Marcus. It was identical to the lightning that had struck the Wild Steed Leader during its evolution, and Marcus instantly recognized it. The air vibrated with terrifying power, and he could feel the destructive energy pressing down on him before it even struck.

That lightning was aimed straight at his head.

’Heavens, help me.’

This had gone far beyond reckless. There was no evasion, no defense, no countermeasure he could take in time. All Marcus could do was brace himself and pray that he would somehow survive what was coming.

The Violet Thunderwing Steed, now eerily calm, was no longer relying on brute rage to shake him off. It had chosen a far more efficient solution.

It was using a skill.

"Thunder Flash!"

The sky erupted.

With a deafening crack of electricity, the purple lightning slammed down, striking Marcus head-on. His vision went white, his body stiffened, and in a single instant, his Health dropped straight to zero.

Marcus was instantly killed by the Violet Thunderwing Steed’s Thunder Flash.

"Ding! Stonehaven, your Ring of Resurrection has activated. Status fully restored. You are under a three-second invulnerability effect."

"What the hell?" Marcus shouted the moment his consciousness snapped back.

"You’ve got to be kidding me. You can use high-level magic too?"

Rage surged through him like wildfire. The spell had been cast so fast he had no chance to react, and its damage was absurd, enough to instantly kill him despite his high Defense and massive Health pool as a Knight. To be one-shot like that felt like a personal insult.

"You piece of trash," Marcus roared, completely losing his composure. "How dare you one-shot me?"

All of his pent-up frustration toward these stubborn, maddeningly powerful horses exploded at once. Without thinking, he raised his fists and began slamming them down onto the Violet Thunderwing Steed’s head again and again, striking with raw anger rather than technique.

"Violet Blaze!"

The Violet Thunderwing Steed felt the purple lightning strike Marcus directly, yet he emerged unscathed and even more aggressive than before. For a brief moment, fear flickered in the Steed’s eyes. But as a proud alpha, it could not accept a human clinging to its back, much less one who continued to attack it after surviving its strongest blow.

With a furious roar, the Violet Thunderwing Steed unleashed its ultimate skill, Violet Blaze.

This skill ignored all defense, dealing two thousand damage per second to all enemies within a three-meter radius for three seconds.

As the Ring of Resurrection completed its revival, Marcus’s body was still enveloped in a warm, golden light. In the second second of his invulnerability window, the Violet Thunderwing Steed activated Violet Blaze.

Its entire body ignited.

Violent purplish-red flames erupted outward, raging wildly as if the Steed itself had transformed into living fire. The flames clawed at the surrounding air, scorching everything within range, completely engulfing the space around its body.

In an instant, the Steed became a blazing inferno, and the roaring flames surged toward Marcus, threatening to swallow him whole.

From afar, the Violet Thunderwing Steed streaking through the sky looked like a burning meteor, a massive fireball suspended in midair, radiating terrifying heat and destructive energy. The sheer intensity of the flames sent shockwaves through the air, throwing the more than eighty Pegasi following behind it into panic and chaos, their once orderly formation breaking apart in fear.
