The melodious sound of bagpipes echoed through the air, their varying tones weaving through the sky like summer birds flitting through the forest, full of life and joy. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

When Thilan returned to the mountains of Northern 1st District, she was greeted by a long-missed gentle breeze. The wind occasionally lifted her wide summer dress, and her sunhat seemed barely able to stay in place.

As she walked through the campus, flocks of birds flew overhead from time to time, and many students strolled with their companions along the paths. A few large dogs with gray and white fur circled a girl, drawn by the bell she was shaking. In the distance, an upperclassman whistled to direct six swallows weaving ribbons in the air, while a freshman, similar in age to Thilan, rode a brown-haired wild boar, happily trotting down the road.

Compared to the competitive atmosphere of Edess Academy, this place felt like a paradise. Perhaps it was because, in the work of cultivators, playing with animals was considered part of the job.

Returning to the Skylark Tower, Thilan pushed open the door and was immediately greeted by a black shadow dropping from the ceiling and wrapping itself around her face. If it weren’t for her familiarity with the giant spider, an ordinary person might have been frightened out of their wits.

"Alright, alright, I won’t leave you here next time. Look what I’ve got for you—a new toy~"

Thilan coaxed the spider like a child, placing it on the table and pulling out a black crystal ball.

The black crystal ball contained Thilan’s purified Decay Sequence magic, emitting a soft, restrained glow that captivated the spider on the table.

"How about it? Isn’t it amazing? If you transform into your ethereal form, you can live inside it," Thilan explained patiently, enticing the spider to give it a try.

Knowing that her presence might make the proud creature hesitant, Thilan smiled and turned away, heading to another corner of the room to check on the hibernating indigo serpent.

"Already at Sequence 4?"

Thilan observed the faintly glowing indigo serpent in its cradle, sensing a different aura emanating from it. She woke it up and blinked, carefully examining its abilities.

"This little one has learned some bad habits too," Thilan thought, stroking the serpent’s head. It used to have such a sunny personality, but now it had chosen an invisibility-related ability during its advancement.

As Thilan pondered, the serpent and the spider began to clash. The two creatures bared their fangs and hissed at each other. In the past, the serpent had been no match for the spider and had avoided confrontation, but now that its strength had grown, it wanted to assert its dominance.

Previously, since the spider could hide in Thilan’s shadow, she had always taken it with her when she went out, leaving the serpent behind. Although this had never been explicitly stated, the serpent seemed to have figured it out. Now that it had gained a similar invisibility ability, it wasn’t willing to give up its spot anymore.

As the serpent’s silver scales grew brighter and the room grew hotter, while the spider’s form became hazy and its claws glowed with dark purple light, Thilan had to step in.

Thud—thud—

Two small ice hammers knocked on the heads of the two creatures, producing a dull sound. The serpent’s forehead gem instantly cooled, and the spider’s body was coated with a layer of frost.

"I’m still here. Don’t fight in the dorm," Thilan scolded, knocking them a couple more times until they calmed down. She then stood up.

Come to think of it, she had another pet. With that in mind, Thilan tucked the spider into her shadow and let the serpent coil around her arm, invisible, before leaving the room.

After leaving the small hill of the Skylark Tower, Thilan found the fish she had previously raised in a pond at the back of the mountain. Originally a Primordial Sequence 2 · Silver Rock Fish, it had advanced to a Nature Sequence 3 · Floating Brave Fish. The fish was currently darting through the trees by the lake, eating small, red berries. When it noticed Thilan approaching, it immediately jumped into the water and hid. It seemed the fish was still a bit afraid of its former owner, given how Thilan had once pinned it to a cutting board.

"Come on out. I’m just here to visit you today. I won’t take you back," Thilan called, bending down by the lake to look for the fish.

However, after a few minutes, there was still no movement on the lake’s surface.

"If you don’t come out, I’ll get angry," Thilan said with a smile, raising her finger. A spark of icy blue flame appeared, causing the lake’s temperature to drop by a few degrees.

Perhaps driven by some primal fear, a silver flying fish leaped out of the water, its scales glinting in the bright sunlight. It skimmed the surface of the lake for a moment before swimming over to Thilan.

"There, there, good job," Thilan said, carefully examining the fish. It seemed much stronger than before, likely due to its happy and carefree life.

With its newfound ability to fly, the fish could now move between the various lakes at Swallow Garden Academy, exploring and finding delicious food, no longer confined to a single place as it had been before.

"Not bad. Here’s a reward for you," Thilan said, opening her hand and tossing a transparent, crystalline cube into the fish’s mouth.

The cube was a highly condensed form of purified magic, offering multiple benefits to magical creatures. Whether used for recovery, advancement, or simply storing energy, it was an excellent resource.

"I’ll come see you again later."

Waving goodbye to the carefree flying fish, Thilan made her way to the deep pool at the back of the mountain. The area was rarely visited, perpetually shrouded in mist, and the path to it was difficult for most to find.

After navigating through the mist, Thilan arrived at the cold pool. However, the pool now had a distinctly summer feel, with many unique ice-cup flowers floating on the surface. These seemed to be an improved variety, resembling water lilies with their white petals and faint blue filaments. In the center of the pool, Thilan once again "saw" the Ghost Princess sleeping within the ice crystal.

To an outsider, it might have looked like nothing more than a large block of ice emitting cold air, completely transparent and empty. But to Thilan, the ghostly figure inside was as clear and beautiful as ever.

"I’m back, Teacher."

After nearly half a year, Thilan had returned.
