Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva-Chapter 1621 - 81: Holy Artifact Relocation
"Primordial Heart…" Adam muttered this term, feeling a sense of absurdity and powerlessness.
The absurdity lies in the fact that even after thousands, tens of thousands of years, people still sacrifice their lives and multiple generations for this elusive ideal. The powerlessness is in such an ideal, seemingly absurd and untouchable, yet sincerely believed by some. The ideological struggle that began since the Twilight Era continues to this day. They seem insignificant, but they influence the world in subtle and unseen ways, making it hard for individuals to challenge.
After discovering Tilan's secret identity, he began to hesitate. Based on his past thinking, he would naturally deny the other's claims. After all, citizens of the Federation now know that returning to the era of the Fifth Epoch is not a good thing. No matter how strong the leadership and civilization, once there's no room for choice, it becomes a prison.
This is also why he thought, if Tilan truly were the yet-to-awaken Black Sun, whether he should make the noble sacrifice of kin.
But now he starts to hesitate, because his experiences over these years have revealed the essence beneath the Federation's gloss. Everything is just a change of facade, whoever is in power, it all remains the same. This is society; disparities between rich and poor classes are inevitable. Moreover, should one really kill a life yet to show evil for such an elusive possibility? Perhaps that child might bring a better choice?
After all, he's just a mortal, unqualified and unable to judge such matters.
Yongrong, your two daughters are truly something extraordinary. I shouldn't have tried that attempt at the time, after all, it was youthful impulsiveness, and I made a mistake.
Taking a deep breath, he slowly lowered his gun, as if laying down the responsibility and obsession carried for decades.
"Looks like you've figured it out, Adam." The elder across wasn't surprised by such a result, after all, they had known each other for decades and understood each other's temperament.
"Come with us, there's much in the future that needs our witness." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"No, you go ahead, I'm just tired." He shook his head.
After the past obsessions faded, he felt an emptiness within that was a dangerous signal. He had seen countless colleagues and companions meet with accidents under such a state, dying in their missions.
'When your beliefs are not firm enough, it's best to stay away from any battlefield.'
Perhaps, it was time for him to leave as well.
"Boom—" A deafening explosion shattered the underground dome where the eight were located, followed by a hasty jetting sound. Armored personnel in dark red exoskeleton armor quickly descended into the dark underground depths with the help of jet boosters. Using goggles connected to scanners, they locked onto each enemy present and raised their guns to fire.
The dense sound of bullets swept across, piercing through several yet-to-be-activated shuttlecraft. Without pause, they advanced rapidly, launching small missiles trailing fire that exploded underground, instantly spreading into a flood of flames, depleting the oxygen there.
With the oxygen systems of their exoskeleton armor, they were unaffected, but the five people taking cover were in a dire situation. If they didn't leave quickly, their combat power would only weaken, and in such an intense chase, exhaustion meant death.
At this point, neither side had the mind to confront each other. They divided to avoid, with the five on the other side finding the only shuttlecraft, launching it swiftly towards the Dark River. However, during the process, it was blasted by members of the Burning New Department using high-powered artillery, the entire shuttlecraft erupting into flames.
Amid the bursting flames and waves, Adam and his companions took the opportunity to jump into the Dark River. They swiftly held their breath, quietly swimming far away along the river, while splashes dotted the water surface.
Half a minute later, several high-power bombs were thrown into the water, setting up a tumultuous explosion, sending a cascade of water and fire, severing parts of the underground passage. However, no bodies were found during the subsequent search; the man nicknamed 'Adam' had still escaped from here.
…
A month later, a report appeared on the black table in front of Prin Coco, detailing the results of the operation and the annihilation of the 'Prophecy Faction.'
"Such news is comforting to read." She turned the pages with her fingers, a hint of leisure in her eyes.
"You've done well." She nodded to the waiting members of the Burning New Department, to which they responded with devout salutes.
"Time for the next action, I want to acquire the 'Eternal Covenant' stored at the Holy White Melody. Bring enough manpower and fleet, and prepare to set off."
"Yes, Your Highness."
Regarding the 'Eternal Covenant of Loranshia,' not only was Tilan interested, but Prin also wanted it in hand. This thought seemed natural, like seeing the splendid scepter erected on the mountaintop and wanting to pluck it.
Holding the Federation was increasingly unsatisfactory to her; she wanted to further align with the Color-level Songstresses in history. Moreover, even with the demise of the Prophecy Faction, her curiosity about the origin of that prophecy grew.
A king's curiosity is drastically different from that of ordinary people. A single notion from her brings countless to action, countless resources tilt to realize that fleeting thought.
"As for the Sigma Mechanical Council's matter." Her fingers tapped on the table, contemplating the strength of the Sigma Mechanical Council.
As for that mysterious neighboring country and branch of human civilization, her knowledge is limited. Even with control over the Federation, she hasn't lost reason to the extent of easily waging war.
