Miracle Farmer with Special Abilities-Chapter 709: Obtaining the Inheritance in the Cave_1
"This is the place."
In an uninhabited high mountain canyon in Tibet, Li Taiqing pointed at an unremarkable cliff.
"There’s nothing special here?" Zhang Bin and Xiao Qian asked, their faces clouded with confusion.
"Don’t be hasty," Li Taiqing said, a mysterious look on his face. "When the time is right, you’ll understand."
The moon gradually rose higher until its light finally crested the mountains and shone upon the stone wall. Then, something magical happened. An image of a Green Ox suddenly emerged on the cliffside, standing there with a tranquil air, so lifelike it seemed as if a real one had just appeared.
"How magical," Zhang Bin and Xiao Qian breathed, so shocked they were almost stupefied. They couldn’t comprehend what kind of wondrous magic this was. There was no hint of technology here; it could only be a spell.
"I stumbled upon this valley by chance and witnessed this miraculous phenomenon," Li Taiqing explained. "It made me very curious. After studying it carefully for over a month, I discovered that the image only appears on moonlit nights, and only when the entire cliff face is illuminated. It lasts for just ten minutes. I couldn’t find anything else. However, one day, on a whim, I mimicked the sound of an ox, and the secret revealed itself."
"Moo..." Zhang Bin immediately and eagerly mimicked the sound of an ox.
The image of the Green Ox seemed to hear him. It turned its head to stare intently at Zhang Bin and Li Taiqing, a strange light shooting from its eyes. For a moment, it was as if it regarded them as the children it had been searching for for many years.
Then, it fiercely struck the stone wall with its horns.
RUMBLE!
A sound like thunder echoed as sparks flew. A pitch-black cave entrance appeared, exuding a mysterious aura. As for the image of the Green Ox, it had vanished completely, as if it had never existed at all. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"Holy shit, that’s incredible! Which grandmaster designed this Mysterious Cave Mansion?" Zhang Bin exclaimed, jumping up in shock.
Xiao Qian was so stunned she was speechless for a long time.
"This," Li Taiqing said with a smile, "is the most important place for our Taiqing Sect. Come on, let’s go inside."
They quickly entered the Cave Mansion. The moment they were inside, the entrance vanished silently behind them, as if it had never been there.
It was a deep, seemingly natural passageway that carried a primordial atmosphere. There were no lights, but they were all powerful cultivators. By releasing their Divine Sense, they could see everything clearly. Soon, they traversed the roughly one-kilometer-long passage and entered a cavern.
The cavern was very simple, containing only a single, peculiar statue: a Taoist riding on the back of a large Green Ox. The Taoist had the elegant bearing of an immortal, with flowing white hair and a beard over a meter long. He was dressed in a Blue Daoist Robe embroidered with a black and white Tai Chi symbol. A Gourd was tied to his waist. In his right hand, he held a horsetail whisk, and in his left, a Jade Scroll. Beyond that, the cavern was completely empty and utterly desolate.
However, Zhang Bin’s jaw dropped. Heavens, isn’t this the great Laozi, Li Er, who achieved Ascension to the Immortal Realm while riding a Green Ox?! he roared inwardly.
Ever since embarking on the path of cultivation, he had carefully researched the two human titans who had achieved Ascension to the Immortal Realm: Bodhidharma and Laozi. He was naturally familiar with the legends of Laozi. It was said that when Laozi ascended, he rode a great Green Ox and vanished into a cloud of purple energy, leaving behind only the Tao Te Ching. His complete inheritance was never passed down; even his own descendants did not receive it. Could it be that Laozi did leave his true inheritance behind, right here in this cave, and no one ever knew? But why would he do that?
"Greetings, Ancestor Master," Li Taiqing said as he knelt and kowtowed respectfully.
Xiao Qian also knelt reverently. Zhang Bin, however, did not kneel, merely offering a respectful bow.
The statue remained motionless, giving no reaction.
"Ancestor Master, I have come today to retrieve the subsequent inheritance. I ask for your fulfillment," Li Taiqing said, raising his head. His gaze burned with intensity as he stared at the Jade Scroll in the statue of Laozi’s hand.
Naturally, the statue still did not respond.
"You two, step back a bit."
A Middle-Grade Flying Sword—the one Zhang Bin had given him—suddenly appeared in Li Taiqing’s hand as he slowly walked forward. His face was a mask of vigilance, and a vast aura of power and Oppression rose from his body.
Zhang Bin and Xiao Qian backed away, watching with curiosity. They knew that Li Taiqing had obtained one Jade Scroll here in the past, seemingly without much difficulty. However, he had been unable to acquire the second one. Clearly, there was something strange about it.
Finally, Li Taiqing reached the statue and his left hand shot out to grab the Jade Scroll. But before he could touch it, the statue moved. The horsetail whisk in its right hand lashed out like a bolt of lightning.
WHOOSH...
Countless white threads flew out, blanketing the sky and filling every inch of space. The power and speed were immense—too fast to describe with words.
"Break!" Li Taiqing shouted, the Flying Sword in his hand dancing wildly as he tried to parry the horsetail whisk.
Bursts of sharp Sword Qi shot out. But it was useless.
The horsetail whisk instantly enveloped him, binding both Li Taiqing and his Flying Sword in the blink of an eye. It then shrank rapidly until he was the size of a mouse, left dangling precariously from the whisk’s tip. No matter how much he struggled, he couldn’t break free. The statue then became motionless once more, simply holding the horsetail whisk aloft.
"Holy shit..." Zhang Bin and Xiao Qian’s eyes nearly popped out, and their jaws nearly dropped.
How could this unassuming statue be so powerful? So terrifying? It captured an expert as formidable as Li Taiqing alive?
"Ahem..." Li Taiqing coughed, his face a mask of embarrassment. "It’s no use. I still haven’t met the Ancestor Master’s requirements, so he won’t allow me to obtain the subsequent Cultivation Technique. Don’t even think about trying to rescue me. The whisk will release me in half an hour, and I’ll be free."
Clearly, this wasn’t the first time he had been bound by the whisk. It had undoubtedly happened many times before, making him particularly experienced in this matter.
"If I were to walk over and take the Jade Scroll now, how would the Ancestor Master attack me?" Zhang Bin asked curiously.
"Ahem... You’re tough-skinned. If you’re not afraid of pain, you can give it a try," Li Taiqing said with a wry smile. Seeing Zhang Bin’s eager expression, he felt he probably couldn’t stop him anyway.
He had brought his wife, Yan Ni, here in the past. As powerful as she was, she too had been unable to take the Jade Scroll and was taught a harsh lesson by the statue.
