Chapter 538: With the team-1

Anthony’s figure reappeared within a room. Without waiting for anything else, he took off his clothes and stepped into the bathroom.

Despite having been in this world for almost twenty years, Anthony still hadn’t gotten used to performing mundane tasks like bathing or washing up using simple mana control.

He preferred the feel of doing things himself, it made him feel human in a world where everything could be done with magic.

After an hour of sitting in the bathtub with his phone in his hands, laughing at wild internet conspiracy theories and ridiculous online rumors, Anthony finally stepped out, his body on full display.

His universal clothing, attuned to his body, instantly morphed, covering him in a seamless transition of fabric and energy.

As he was about to sink into a seat and resume his internet activities, he paused, letting out a long sigh as he sensed familiar presences walking toward his room from a distance.

’I barely just got back... Can I at least get some private internet time?’ Anthony muttered mentally as his phone vanished into his system storage space with a flicker of light.

The door instantly opened, and Dale and the rest of his teammates stepped in without knocking, as usual.

"Where did you go? We suddenly didn’t see you for a whole day!" Reynold asked the moment he entered. Since they didn’t have an official military rank or designated squad at the moment, the group had simply been staying together in one large building allocated to them.

Anthony’s gaze turned to them as he replied plainly, "I was with the League Of Supremes."

"What?" Everyone’s voice came out at the same time in shock and disbelief.

"You met all the Supreme Monarchs?" Reynold asked, clearly stunned.

"Tsk... Indeed, having connections is a powerful thing," Dale clicked his tongue in envy as he spoke.

"I’m sure your mom took you to introduce you formally, probably to prepare you to become a Supreme Monarch yourself in the future," Dale continued without hiding the sarcasm in his tone.

"You misunderstand. I was simply there to brief them about our personal mission regarding the Bleeding Hollow Zone and the Severed Crown of Echoes," Anthony replied as he shook his head, brushing off Dale’s assumption.

"None of that matters, man. The main point is, you met all nine Supreme Monarchs. Did you get a signature or at least a souvenir?" Reynold asked, eyes wide with curiosity and admiration.

Anthony simply shook his head. Who would dare ask for a signature after slicing off an entire arm belonging to the Second Supreme Monarch?

"Tell us about it," Seraphim spoke, clearly calmer than the rest. She had spent most of her time since arriving at the military base training and reading, trying to improve herself after nearly dying multiple times during the previous war.

After all, she didn’t possess Dale’s abnormal regeneration abilities.

Anthony gave a general summary of his time with the Supreme Monarchs but intentionally omitted the part where things went sideways. Even if he told them the truth, they likely wouldn’t believe him and would probably assume he was exaggerating or just trying to show off.

Because really, who in their right mind would believe that an Ecliptic-rank individual could injure a Supreme Monarch? Even Warlords weren’t capable of such a feat.

Still, they pressed Anthony for every tiny detail. To them, the Supreme Monarchs were literal gods, beings on a level so far above that even seeing one in person would be a lifetime honor.

"I’ve also taken care of our military rank issue," Anthony said casually, changing the topic. "We’ll be reinstated as an official team and can perform missions as usual. Although, we’ll be getting some new teammates."

"Phew, thank the heavens," Reynold sighed in relief. "For a moment, I thought we wouldn’t get our ranks back anytime soon, or at all. Unlike you, we don’t have connections to remain untouched."

"Who are these new teammates?" Kingsley asked from the side, clearly interested in the details.

"It’s those two sitting beside you. And also someone else," Anthony replied without much buildup.

As for the two he just mentioned, they were Clement and Spectre.

Dale, Reynold, Kingsley, and Seraphim weren’t surprised. After all, those two were Anthony’s subordinates, and both were bound to him by mana contracts.

Besides, Spectre and Clement were undeniably stronger than most of the team, even Kingsley had to admit that, and that was saying something. It would’ve been a waste not to add them to the squad.

Besides, who wouldn’t want overpowered new teammates who could cover your back during life-threatening missions?

"Who’s the other new teammate? Hopefully, it’s a beauty. This team is already greatly unbalanced. We’re literally six men and one woman," Dale spoke with a theatrical sigh. "I’m tired of hearing only thick manly voices and seeing all these rough male faces."

"Why don’t you create a harem, then? That way, you and your harem members can go on missions together," Spectre spoke from the side, his tone as casual as if he had once tried that very idea himself.

"Hooo... Now that you mention it, I should’ve done that from the very beginning," Dale said as his thoughts began to spiral, the idea growing in his mind.

"Don’t even bother. No woman would want to be with a weakling like you," Reynold instantly poured cold water over Dale’s fantasy.

"Tsk. If you don’t want me on the team, just say so. No need to use other methods to try and convenience me," Dale retorted with a half-hearted glare.

"I’m not trying to convince you. You can leave the team now, the door is right behind you,"

Reynold said with a smile, casually pointing toward the exit.

"Hmph." Dale said nothing more and simply snorted. Deep down, he knew maintaining even one woman was expensive, talk less of a harem.

In this world, it wasn’t just about charm or looks; it cost military points. And Dale barely had enough for himself, let alone a group of high-maintenance harem members.

After all, only the wealthy had the luxury of forming harems. What group of elite women would willingly gather around a broke soldier?

"Tell us who the new teammate is. Leave those two idiots alone," Seraphim said, clearly irritated by Dale and Reynold’s usual back-and-forth banter.

"Well, yes... our new teammate is a girl," Anthony said with a smile tugging at his lips.

"But you have no hope with her."

He didn’t mention that she was his soon-to-be girlfriend.

"I’ll be the judge of that," Dale said confidently. "After all, which lady wouldn’t fall for a vampire’s charm?"
