MIGHT AS WELL BE OP-Chapter 1030: Strange Domain
Collins’ foot collapsed into the Angel’s temple with the force of a dying star, the Angel’s body tearing sideways as he was smashed into the body of the coiling wingless dragon. A huge charge of lightning immediately drowned into his body, surging violently through his Faith Energy and overwhelming it completely.
Collins didn’t give up the advantage, lightning crackled wildly around his fists, his hands turning into a blur as he unleashed a hundred punches into the Angel’s chest in less than a millisecond, each strike carrying devastating force and precision.
And with booming force, the Angel’s chest exploded outward in a shower of golden blood, fragments scattering as his body immediately turned into a charred, blackened corpse. He had come to catch Collins off guard, only to be killed with overwhelming ease.
Throughout the moment of the Angel’s arrival and the exchange of attacks between him and Collins, not even a single second had passed, the entire sequence unfolding faster than thought itself.
Collins’ eyes snapped to the side, and seeing that the explosion had ended, he immediately acted without hesitation. The coiling wingless dragon instantly uncoiled itself under his precise control, its massive form shifting fluidly, and before the remaining two Angels could even blink, the wingless dragon roared toward them with blazing speed, lightning tearing through the space in its wake.
With Collins’ ridiculous control over mana and the lightning element, he didn’t need to deactivate the Forbidden spell just to cast an attacking spell; he could simply convert the defensive construct into an offensive one on the spot with seamless ease, and that was exactly what he had just done without the slightest delay or inefficiency.
[Barrier Magic: Strange Domain]
One of the Angels acted immediately, appearing beside her comrade in an instant as she cast a defensive spell with flowing ease, her movements refined and precise, a golden-reddish barrier encasing both of them in a protective dome that radiated divine energy and resilience.
The lightning wingless dragon slammed into the barrier with maddening force as a deafening roar tore through the air, lightning exploding outward upon impact, but still, the barrier held firm without collapsing or bursting apart, its structure stabilizing under the immense pressure through sheer divine reinforcement.
The moment the lightning attack was nullified, the other Angel immediately moved, his wings flapping powerfully as he shot toward another direction with incredible speed, the direction where the lightning cocoon that held Irene was located. The moment he got close, his sabre slashed forward without the slightest hesitation, golden flames trailing behind the arc of his strike as he enhanced his attack with his element, intent on destroying the cocoon in a single decisive motion.
With star-wiping force, both sides met at a single point in space, their energies colliding violently, and an overwhelming torrent of rampaging shockwaves of catastrophic proportions tore outward from the impact, distorting everything around them.
The force slammed directly into the Angel’s chest with merciless ease, sending him reeling backward instantly.
The Angel immediately spat out a mouthful of golden blood as he was thrown off his feet, his body sent flying as the moon he and the lightning cocoon were floating on burst outward with chaotic and unstable lunar energy, cracks forming and spreading rapidly across its surface. The breastplate the Angel was wearing finally shattered under the pressure, its divine enchantments and augmentations vanishing the moment it broke apart, leaving him far more vulnerable than before.
The Angel frowned deeply, confusion flashing across his face as he struggled to comprehend what had just happened. Wasn’t it just a normal lightning cocoon? How had it withstood his sabre technique so effortlessly?
But unknown to him, the lightning cocoon wasn’t being sustained by mana, but by Collins’ vitality, his literal life force, a far more fundamental and potent source of energy.
With the presence of a Twelve Winged Angel looming over the battlefield, Collins had gone as far as using his own lifespan to protect his wife without the slightest hesitation. Besides, why should he hesitate? He was barely over a thousand years in age, he still had an immense lifespan to burn, an abundance he could even replenish through countless rare treasures if he so desired.
But the moment the Angel attacked and was repelled, Collins had already acted. He appeared beside the dazed and disoriented Angel instantly, a lightning blade forming in his hand as he swung it in a vicious arc toward the Angel’s neck, his expression cold and devoid of emotion.
But the Angel reacted immediately, raising his own sabre to block the incoming strike, his instincts still sharp despite his condition. However, the moment the two attacks were about to collide, Collins’ blade flickered out of existence as he dissipated his own lightning construct, forcing the Angel into committing to a now useless defensive motion. In that same instant, Collins recreated another blade in his hand with perfect timing, and with lethal precision, he slashed forward, cleanly decapitating the Angel in a single fluid motion.
While he may have been a mage and lacked deep mastery over the blade, it didn’t mean he couldn’t use his magic to his advantage in situations like these, blending unpredictability with precision to devastating effect.
His eyes snapped to the side once more, and there, floating with a grim and resolute expression, was the last Angel. She stared at Collins with pure killing intent burning in her golden eyes. All her comrades had been slain, yet she didn’t take a single step back, she didn’t fear death, she welcomed it wholeheartedly, for in death, she believed she would return to HIM, purified and complete.
With a final battle cry, she shot forward with blitzing speed, her form becoming a streak of golden light as Faith Energy roared violently around her. Collins stared at her with an indifferent gaze, completely unmoved. Both of them understood the reality of the situation, she was not charging toward victory, she was rushing toward her own inevitable death.
Faith Energy surged around the Angel as she prepared to unleash everything she had left, but before she could even act, a colossal pillar of lightning tore down from above with unstoppable force, striking her mid-flight and erasing her entirely, reducing her to cinders before she could even comprehend what had happened.
Of course, under normal circumstances, an attack like that would not have been enough to guarantee such an outcome, but she had already committed fully, charging blindly with death in her heart and no regard for defense.
Seeing that every last one of them had been wiped out, Collins’ eyes slowly rose toward the heavens, his black gaze locking onto the same condescending presence that loomed above. He didn’t dare break eye contact, his expression calm yet serious. Although he had taken care of the Eleven Winged Angels with apparent ease, he knew without a doubt that this next battle would be entirely different.
In this battle, he would bleed, and he could very well face True Death, something he had never once been forced to confront before. His mana boiled within him, surging restlessly, ready to erupt and respond to the slightest hint of danger.
The Twelve Winged Angel finally moved, but not in the way Collins had expected. The Angel broke eye contact with him as though he couldn’t be bothered to continue acknowledging his presence. With a single thought, a portal in the shape of a radiant star tore open in space, its edges shimmering with divine energy.
Without sparing Collins another glance, the Angel stepped through it and vanished entirely.
To the Angel, Collins was nothing more than an insignificant ant. And if he went about killing every ant he encountered, then his title might as well change to something far more trivial, something beneath his status
Collins didn’t speak, he simply watched in silence. He didn’t give chase, there was no need to. Him rushing in blindly to fight the Twelve Winged Angel wouldn’t magically save the Acarnis Galaxy, nor would it halt the ongoing invasion from the Divinora Galaxy.
To him, there was no reason to fight if the Angel himself had chosen not to engage.
But deep down, Collins understood the truth. A significant part of the reason he didn’t make a move was because of his own weakness. If he weren’t weaker than the Twelve Winged Angel, he would never have allowed him to simply step through that portal so freely; he would have ended that golden-winged chicken without hesitation.
Collins let out a quiet sigh as he forced those thoughts aside, refusing to dwell on them any longer. His gaze shifted toward the lightning cocoon that housed Irene within it, his expression softening ever so slightly as his focus moved away from the battlefield and back to what truly mattered.
