"Is it that hard to say a word to me?! If you'd just given me the smallest hint, I wouldn't have fallen into such despair!"

"What about you?! I asked you to be Lucy's pillar, so why did you just leave her alone?!"
Each word spoken shifts the air around us.
It’s not just a change in atmosphere. The very feeling in the air is changing.
As a result, several of the servants caught in this fight had lost consciousness, and even the distant branches of the Allen family were gasping for breath. The knights, who were still somewhat intact, were unsure of how to intervene and were looking around nervously.
"What are you all doing?"
Seeing their pathetic state, I narrowed my eyes and scolded them. Immediately, everyone rushed to me as if they had found a savior.
"Lady! Please stop this fight! You're the only one who can do it!"
Seeing the usually calm butler kneel before me made me realize the situation was indeed serious.
"Right now, they’re fighting, but who knows when it’ll escalate!"
If that happens, not only would this mansion be destroyed, but we’d also have to worry about the very survival of the estate.
"Isn’t this a bit of an overreaction?"
While I understood the butler’s worry, I couldn’t agree. Both of them are adults who know how to take responsibility, and they’ve led many people before.
More than that, they’ve learned and grown a lot over the past few years. I couldn’t imagine them letting their emotions get out of control to the point of causing trouble now.
"Couples fight sometimes when they feel upset, don’t they? What’s all this fuss about?"
"I’m not denying what you said, but they’ve already clashed once..."
"...Huh?"
"Look over there, at Porsel, who’s being treated in the corner. He got caught up in their clash and ended up in that condition."
Porsel, the leader of the Allen family’s knights and the second strongest after Benedict, was literally plastered to the wall with his eyes rolled back.
"After one person was sacrificed, they calmed down for a bit, but the atmosphere quickly flared up again."
The reason I couldn’t imagine this happening was because it had already happened in reality. No wonder everyone looked so desperate.
‘Grandfather! Help!’
<...You want me to end up like that knight?>
‘But you’re different, Grandfather!’
<Honestly, you’d probably be more effective by stepping in between them and being cute.>
Hmm, that might be true. But first, I need to calm them down.
Taking a deep breath and smoothing my cheeks, I entered the room with a smile I had carefully crafted.
"Mama~ Papa~"
Until I entered, they had been glaring at each other, but as soon as they heard my voice, they exchanged glances and tried to lift the corners of their mouths.
"Lucy, you’re here?"
"Welcome. You seem light on your feet, as if you’ve had a good conversation."
"Yep! I just went around saying thank you to my friends and everyone else!"
Suppressing the curse rising from my dantian, I acted as cute as I could, and their faces, Benedict’s and Armandi’s, softened with sincere smiles.
"That’s good to hear. Really, I’m happy for you."
"Now you’ll be able to create happy memories."
"But, hey. I heard a loud noise from outside, what was that?"
"Oh. Well..."
"What’s this?"
"Please don’t tell me you fought?"
I asked casually, pretending not to know anything, and both of their shoulders twitched. How honest.
"Heh~ there’s no way we’d fight, after being reunited after so many years! That’s just not possible!"
"Of course not!"
"The emotions from our reunion were just so strong that it made things a bit loud."
"Right? If we really fought, I would’ve been so sad! I love both Mama and Papa too much to let you fight!"
"Don’t worry! That won’t happen!"
"That’s right. How could I not love you both so much?"
But when they looked at each other, their eyes were shaking.
How much had built up for them to go from affection to this?
Still, the fact that I was able to hold back my urge to retch and act cute had some effect.
The emotional fight had probably been going on for a while, but if I just step in and calm things down, it should settle.
"Benedict, you’ve always treated me with great care. How much did you cherish me for you to abandon Lucy as soon as I disappeared?"
"Why are you bringing this up now!"
"Why? You did the same thing when you first met me, didn’t you?"
"Did I say something wrong?! Didn’t you give Lucy such harsh trials?! Didn’t Lucy suffer terribly because of your loss?!"
"I know! But I had no choice! You think I didn’t feel my heart being ripped apart when Lucy cried?!"
...Ugh. Just when I thought things had calmed down, it’s all a mess again.
I threw off my mask and, with a disdainful look, watched the two of them. The heat rising inside me made me slam my hand down on the desk.
The desk, unable to withstand my strength, split in two, and both of their gazes immediately turned to me.
"Lucy?"
"I’m sorry. Our daughter, we..."
"Shut up♡"
Why do adults act worse than children? I don’t even need Fabi here. If I just brought Arthur or Joy, they’d know exactly what to do.
"Papa♡ The continent’s greatest knight can’t control his emotions properly?♡"
"Sorry."
"Really? Did I ask you to say sorry?♡ Papa♡ Are you saying you don’t want to hear me anymore?♡"
"That’s not it. I just didn’t want to make excuses..."
"How pathetic♡ That’s an excuse♡"
Benedict, who was sulking and silent, finally sat straight, and when I quickly turned my head, Armandi straightened up too.
"Lucy. I..."
"You know, Mama♡ Who was the god who gave me the power of tolerance?♡"
"That... that was me."
"Then why can’t you tolerate this?♡ I really don’t understand why you’re making a fuss over something that you did right, but now you’re acting like this♡ Both Papa and Mama abandoned me, didn’t they?♡"
Saying there was no excuse doesn’t really mean much. Not to Benedict. Not to Armandi. They both had their own reasons.
And they understand each other’s reasons.
So why are they fighting like this?
I could say this, but I have to say it anyway.
This fight is happening because both of them are acting like children.
Benedict is probably resentful that Armandi, who whispered sweet words to him, said nothing to Lucy, and Armandi feels hurt by Benedict, who never understood how much she had to sacrifice for the world.
The problem is, instead of talking about their feelings, they brought up everything else and started blaming each other.
Rather than honestly sharing their feelings, they’re tearing each other down. How childish is that?
"In the end, shouldn’t I be the one to get angry?♡ Why are the two of you fighting while blaming each other for hurting me?♡"
"I’m sorry."
"I’m sorry."
"Do I need to tell you how much I suffered? How much it hurt when I lost Mama and Papa abandoned me? Do I need to say that again?♡ Huh?♡"
Both of them lowered their heads, unable to make excuses, looking at me for guidance. Seeing their dejected faces made the irritation that had filled me just moments ago turn into a sense of pity.
"I’m not blaming Mama and Papa. Everyone was just struggling. So, Mama and Papa, please, try to be reasonable. You’re both adults."
Why is it so hard to just say what’s in your heart and comfort each other?
Even kids do that.
If adults can’t do that, what does it say about them?
"I’m leaving now, so make sure you two reconcile. I won’t talk to either of you until you do."
With that, I figured they’d figure it out.
If not, I’m outta here.
I left the room and, ignoring the expectant eyes, walked toward Porsel.
As I gently touched his head with a hand filled with divine power, Porsel quickly opened his eyes.
"Ah... Lady?"
"You’ve been through a lot because of two masters who aren’t even acting like proper masters."
"...Haha. It’s fine. If it’s for the family, I can do anything."
Porsel, who had come out from the wall, dismissed the onlookers who had gathered by the door.
"Why are the servants watching the master have such an important conversation?" he said.
The butler, seeing that the situation had improved, bowed and apologized, then immediately gave orders to the servants.
"By the way, Porsel. Are you interested in fame?"
"Every man wants his name known across the continent. Why do you ask?"
"You were the one who first taught me how to wield the mace. If you tell the people of the Art Academy about it, they’ll love it and create stories about it."
"An attractive story, but I can’t agree. The one who truly taught you about the mace was Sir Ruel, not me."
"Then, is there anything else you want?"
"Maybe a sparring match later. With the current Lady, I think we could have an interesting contest."
"...Are you serious?"
"I am serious."
Well, if I go all out now, I might just have a match, but... Hmm.
"Alright. I’ll do it later."
"Thank you."
"But you’re second. The first opponent is someone else."
"Who is it?"
"Who else? My puppy."
The knight, who had been standing at a distance, widened his eyes upon hearing this.
"Afraid of losing?"
"No, Lady. I’m an Allen knight. Whether I win or lose, I’ll accept a fair match gladly."
"Then that’s fine. Come at me. You’ll have to prove you’re worthy of protecting me."
This time, no need to hold back. Go all out.
I’ll show you how sharp my puppy’s teeth are.
